- This time in Breath of the Wild, we show how Talus have a secret ability that Nintendo never told us, a new powerful glitch to start the new year, and a multitude of small secrets hidden around Rito Village.
In the video above, we cover 18 facts, tips and tricks that aren’t quite as well known, ranging from secrets to glitches, so me that are pretty simple and others that are fairly complex. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been out for four years at this point, and players have found some amazing things, intended or not, that keep the game and its sense of discovery feeling fresh.

That Nintendo added the Talus skins, but didnt use them was very intresting to see.
@@romanfuchs1932 It was only found on accident because of his BOTW Randomizer mod, when these Talus started popping up randomly like this when it wasn't modded, pretty cool!
Hey thought I'd mention this but LegendofLinkk and I co-discovered certain aspects of RMS (Reverse memory storage) and Lux and I discovered ARMS. You can check this in the spreadsheet pinned in the speedrunning discord under glitch hunting.
I've actually seen it before in a different video, probably over a year ago now. I can't for the life of me remember who it was though

Agreed! This is fascinating, just how the code of this game behaves and what it implies about the development and possible scrapped content is an entire rabbit hole I love to surf down from time to time

I don't think it implies that Talus camouflage themselves, but rather each Talus is made of whatever the ground is made of. If you took the cobblestone Talus into the grass, it would still be a cobblestone Talus.
They could honestly reuse the talus camo in ToTK. That is a pretty neat detail.
considering ToTK will use the same engine and likely reuse plenty of assets or have them changed slightly I'm pretty sure that the Talus Camoflauge is here to stay
Instead of rain making you fall off the side of a mountain, it would be cool if all the sudden the side of the hill rumbles and you find ourself on the arm of a Talus and it then flings you. :P
We already saw talus encampments in the second (?) trailer so I’m sure there will be more to show off the really cool textures!
It definitely feels like a sort of "future proofed" feature, where they could place a Talus more or less wherever they wanted without it seeming out of place or worrying about making new specific textures for it. Super cool stuff
This game will forever be one of the best openworld games I've ever played. The little details are what makes its replay value so high. There's also this strange sense of freedom, the fact that you could beat the final boss from the start is clear proof of that.

@@YaBoiDoi I think what the commenter meant was that most open worlds are very limiting and restrictive. Especially when it comes to the story and the open world, they end up being very separate, limiting what the player can do. But in breath of the wild, there is far more freedom to do whatever you want, which might be considered strange compared to other games in the genre.
These are my most favorite videos of BotW to watch. It turns out this game has so many small details that it can keep us entertained until TotK

@@browniez_ This may sound odd but sometimes Idk whether to count down in months or days. GamExplain was the 1st time I'd seen it done in weeks but it's bcuz of that weekly series they've had to count down to it. It's been since 2023 began as they see the release as the highlight of the year
The moon shadow was my favourite!
A look into the future: The year is 2189. There are still things we didn't know about Breath of the wild.
I managed to find out about the moon shadow one on my own, but it was on my 9th or 10th run of the game. I was climbing the tower at night and I thought to myself “why is that pedestal lit up?” And then I noticed the shadow from the moonlight. Absolutely amazing level of detail
I shot the pedestal from the tower when it was lit. That works also apparently.

I just picked it up before last Christmas after owned a switch since 2019, 70hrs into it and I feel like I have barely seen all that it has to offer.
Another fun fact about the Talus camouflage. There is actually a parameter to override the camouflage. Only one Talus in the game does not auto-camouflage with this parameter in use at Champion's Gate North. I think there is about 60 or so different materials that can be used with this parameter. Tested some of the more crazy ones not shown in this video like Cherry Blossom talus, Green Lawn Talus and Zora's Domain Blue Stone Talus a few years back.

The shadow thing for that shrine!! I cant believe that was hidden for so long lol love it!
I tried to flex my arms to make a shadow, but it wasn't big enough. Waaaaa....
Its amazing that we get one of these every month. We have now gone through 22 episodes already and I have watched all of them. This is a truly marvelous series. Keep it up Gamespot!

During number 14, I had that shrine be activated by a shadow of a Ice Lizalfos jumping at me. I guess the shadow was in the perfect spot and that happened. So yeah, that shrine can be activated with ANY shadow, and it’s great.
The Taluses are such an impressive showcase of how much attention went into this game

Cactus plural form is cacti not cactuses. So should it be tali instead of talusses for the word talus. Noun or proper noun does it matter. Oh well. Peace out

Breath of Wild seems to have reached Ocarina of Time levels, how years later, people are still making discoveries in the game. That much love and effort was put into the development.

my favorite part was learning about the rental and wild sand seal speed difference. One of my favorite things in BotW is to shield surf in the desert with one of those seals. Now i can do it faster

The talus camouflage would be a nice dev timesaver - no need to pick a texture! It also probably saves memory, since they don't have to load anything that isn't already loaded for the environment (by definition!)

This was actually one of the better episodes! After all this time you still bring out heavy hitters, very nice. The Rito sleeping, Talus and shadow mechanism was all news to me. Arrigatoooooo
The Stone Talus camo was interesting.
Definitely would make for a simple but good mod for the game to add some Taluses in unique locations.

The camouflaged skins was definitely the coolest thing I learned that I didn't know!!
The electric lizalfos aura could've been an amazing detail added to hard mode. Sadly the only thing that DID happen was giving enemies more health. (Floating structures were fine, i guess)

If you unlock the divine beast Dungeons but leave before getting the map, you can talk to the champion successors and get unique dialogue. Teba will even curse.

2 New facts
1: when doing a 1 hander spinattack after 1 shorts attack u can see a new Charge Animation anf you even hit enemies two times eith this spin
2: Sailing around the Maze island in akkals is the scarriest thing ive ever done and Fish as well as Lizalfos can sporn there

I unlocked it by standing on top of the shrine Tower, and shooting an arrow onto the center of the platform. When the tower's shadow was on it.
It took me so long to get the right angle and timing, but it finally worked.
this is probably known by some players already, but i didnt know it before: early in the morning at around 5:00 AM, koko will go to kakariko village's graveyard to visit her mum's grave, and begin to cry, but is startled out of it when Link comes close. i never knew about this, could be cool to include in the next video

the fact that you can replace the snowball with items that are big enough is genius and such a time saver. never again will i have to stand there for 5-10 min and wait for the sun to be the perfect angle, only to realize my snowball was too small and I have to start over
