For me PES 5 is the best PES game. PES 6 was good but not the Goat. Pes 2013 was really something, but i really loved play to PES 2011 and PES 2012 at the time (and i still play sometimes). PES 2018 was fun and give me great memories. And the worst for me was PES 2014... (I don't play PES 2008 on PS3)

PES 2011 and 2012 could have been the much better, but both are still good. They improved it in PES 2013, but unfortunately all the classic heroes and legends were gone from the game by then.
Yes, the Ps2 graphics are smooth, the Ps4 2017 graphics and models are smooth, in 12/13 they are weird bobbing models. But 12 13 are the most complete atmospheres
I still remember my excitement at the store buying PES2008. I was like if PES6 was so much better than the awesome PES5, I cannot imagine how good PES2008 might be! And then I played it. Once. And then got back to PES6 again.
PES 2017 is the last truly great pro evo game on the ps4 era. It was excellent and in my opinion one of, if not the best pes of all time. It is on par with the 2013 and 5/6 versions. The problem is that, after the disasterous 2014 version and the mediocre 2015 version, many people switched to fifa and never came back. 2016 ironically was a good game and better than the previous ones but 2017 was peak gaming, way better than 2016, the must fun and most balanced pes, hands down. 2018 made me feel weird when paying it. It was something that i just didnt like about that game. The graphics, the AI behavior, the grass which looked like a big green plastic hall, i dont know. The one that i bought (again) recently is 2019, because i think that after the datapacks and updates it became a VERY good pes indeed. It just had a rough start on the season. Efootball 2020/21 were the reason i stopped playing pes games and this says alot.

Every single pes game was more realistic than it's FIFA counterpart, the one thing they always got right was the spin on the ball anyone that plays football or a sport with a round ball knows what I'm talking about

Ok so about the rankings of 1-3. Trust me when I say they were really good games back then. For us back in the day Iss pro evolution 1 was decent, 2 was Very Good and 3 GOAT tier.
It’s mind blowing just how far ahead PES was over FIFA. Pro evo 3 compared to FIFA 2003 is laughable. Agreed on pro evo 6 being goated though. Am playing it this weekend with an old school mate. The nostalgia is going to be epic.
In my personal opinion I think PES5 should be ranked Very Good, PES6 is obviously GOAT. PES2009 was quite decent and 2011 probably the best they every made. I don't think you actually know a whole lot about these games at all because 2011 had groundbreaking tactical progress, for example, which you aren't even mentioning as a change or improvement over 2010.

Someone isnt old enough to have played pes1,2 and 3 when that ahit was the pinnacle of football games and everyone would laugh at you for even suggesting fifa (i still remember fifa 98 and how by spamming the sprint button which was triangle for some reason, you could phase through players just run into the goal. I remember winning 38-0 and scoring from mid field. It was just a shit broken game). Me and my stepbrot would play this shit on vacation and they would bring their modded japaness winning eleven copies and fighting sticks (good old time when arcade sticks were used for pes) and they had all the current jerseys and shoes and teams, all the latest and coolest nike and adidas shoes like the total 90 II abd total 90 III, which i actually used myself while playing football in the little leagues.. Pes 2 was good but pes 3 and 4 were the GOAT. Hands down the golden age of football and football videogames.
