IMO Kanye’s best album. I’ve always loved this arrangement top to bottom. Glad to see your dad enjoying this for the first time. It reminds me how I reacted 17 yrs ago hearing this for the first time 👍🏿

This series is genius because I get SO EXCITED to see his reaction to these incredible tracks. This album is so unbelievable and it’s so much fun to watch somebody hear it for the first time.
I’ve been saying this for years lol I don’t feel like his verse has been appreciated and analyzed enough to this day. So many bars that I didn’t even catch until years later
I love the end especially “Now let me end my verse right where the horns are” which is followed by the song’s brass melody. It’s simple but it’s just so good
Bro I’m so happy with his reaction towards Diamonds From Sierra Leone, that song is insanely good. Every single time I listen to it I get chills, such an amazing piece 🤌🏽
Be by Common would be a great album to listen to at some point. With how much he's shown up on the channel and with Kanye's production it would be perfect
For me late registration was Kanye’s best instrumental album. Heard em say, touch the sky, drive slow, dfsl, drive slow, roses, celebration, late, and I’m sure there’s more. All their instrumentals are TREMENDOUS and I’ve spent hours listening to their instrumentals alone
Kevin would really enjoy Late Orchestration where this album was performed with a full orchestra. It might not be quite suited for a full video, but it’d be cool to see his opinion in one of the monthly recaps. As always, great vid and keep it up.
I can’t wait for him to hear how ye’s music evolves especially after 808s. I really hate to say it but his mother’s death really changed his music and hip hop as a whole. RIP Donda
@@chillywilly4282 I agree, especially with his understanding of music theory, we can all miss the old Kanye but appreciate what he's done and continues to do in every album
I loved your dad’s reaction to Diamonds from Sierra Leone. Yet another one of Ye’s underrated masterpieces. I get shivers every time even after hundreds of listens.
I think this album more than any of his others is his most Orchestral sounding. Lots of horns, violins, percussions. One of the reason it's my personal favorite Kanye album. Edit: My favorite track is "Gone"
In the last couple weeks or so I've gone back and listened to this album with headphones (I doubt I had done so prior). When I got to, "Gone", I was astonished that I had never paid much attention to the composition, and specifically the orchestration. Undoubtedly it is one of my favorites now. "Late", also blew me away with the bass, but the overall sound reminds me heavily of something MF DOOM would rap over, which I like. Still, my favorite song from this album remains, "Addiction".
100% Gone in my top 5, although in no particular order, Devil in a new dress, runaway, hold my liquor, Gone, flashing lights. I also agree that Gone was a slow burner for me, it's quite a long album so was lost behind Touch the Sky and Heard em Say
Hey Mama always makes me emotional, it was really special seeing your dad react to it. Thank you for sharing, I love this channel so much, everything you put out feels so authentic I really enjoy it!!
Your relationship is so beautiful. I lost my dad on thanksgiving, and our shared music is what keeps us together, and me alive. How beautiful. The things we’ll cherish forever.
could just be the beers but watching them listen to touch the sky brought some happy tears to my eyes. really threw me back to the days when i was 10 and 11 listening to the copies of college dropout and late registration that my mom bought me. made me remember when i was really starting to fall in love with a genre of music that shaped my life. beautiful moments and videos.
being born in 2003 I've never heard these albums in full. Just the big singles released and songs that have remained relevant in pop culture years later. Watching this and College Dropout with your dad is not only his first time, but mine too. That goes for every other album as well. (I wasnt a sit down and listen to an hour long album sort of person, I am now). Point is I'm happy I can pop my cherry with your dad every week :)
Please update with your fave album once you’re updated! I was born in 98 but I remember listening to his first album in 04 when my older brother got the cd.
I was around 11-13 when Kanyes first 3 albums dropped man it was huge back in the day. Songs still hit til this day. So much nostalgia from those years.
Best one yet guys. Please do continue letting your dad play some guitar in-between bathroom breaks I love the format of this one and Connor you seem better able to chill on this one. Good work guys
I really appreciate how you don't allow any bias for songs to seep through before you play them. You just give the pure information about the song, and let your dad give his completely fresh opinion. Great work.
Watching someone who is very open minded when it comes to music and isnt familiar with kanyes music is great content. You can literally see him become a fan in real time. Cant wait for Graduation!
No mention of JON BRION!? He co-produced the entire album, he did Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Portishead, Fiona Apple…Kanye brought him on to handle all the piano and orchestration that’s why this album is so cinematic and warm with layers
man I wish they could work together again, but I guess Ye's sound currently is very different, completely minimalist and stripped back rather than the layers we hear on LR or MBDTF. Brion's work with Mac Miller is the closest
This is my favorite video of yours!! I knew Kevin would get emotional on Diamonds and Hey Mama. They are two crazy emotional songs and some of my favorite Kanye songs
Gone and Late were originally hidden tracks that weren't listed on the CD. You had to listen to nothing for 2 minutes after the official last song to listen to them
21:40 That's Gil Scott-Heron. The vocals were sampled and modulated. 28:32 Yes, that's a sample from Bill Withers. What version of the album are you guys listening to? There's supposed to be a solo version of "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" between "Gone" and "Late."
This channel is a gift. Love watching you guys listen to albums and talk about it. Also loved the dad-playing-guitar interlude during the break before Celebration. Wouldn't mind hearing more of that.
It’s so wholesome that Kanye adored and appreciated and celebrated Donda when she was alive and continues to do so after her passing. You can tell how much she meant to him. RIP Donda ❤️
gone is my favorite track on the album and it made me so sad that they didn't have anything to say about the last 2 verses. i think they're amazing, along with the chello which gets progressively more prominent as the song goes on, perfectly matching the tone of each verse.
I cannot express in words what pleasure I get watching your videos. Especially listening to Kanye's albums, because I am a huge Kanye fan myself. Thank you for sharing these reactions with us. Your dad is fantastic. From Russia with love. UPD: You must definitely show your father late orchestration

Dad’s reaction to Diamonds is heartwarming. It’s a top 5 song of all time for me so it’s cool to watch someone enjoy it for the first time!
without a doubt top 5 all time. beat is always different and developing. so slept on
non remix better
@@bradleyl0488 fax
@@bradleyl0488 naw jay verse is cold
@@just-a-guy9857 The perfect Diamonds from Sierra Leone would include Kanye’s verses from the bonus track and Jay Z’s verse from the remix
Your dad’s genuine emotional reaction to this album is such a beautiful thing to have captured.
on "My Way Home", the guy singing is actually a sample from Gil Scott Heron's "Home Is Where the Hatred Is" that's pitched down. Not sure if either of you will see this but since you said you loved his voice I thought I'd let you guys know where it's actually from :)
Man has one of the coolest voices ever
Also comment #1 and #2 by him was used at the end of mbdtf for those who didn’t know
The father would eat up some of these samples if he knew about them.
Have you listened to We’re New Here - Jamie XX vs. Gil Scott-Heron?
This the comment i was looking for
Man I love this channel. Also pointing out that "Hey Mama" was a celebration when it came out but now its an emotional poem is an important call out
This series is genius because I get SO EXCITED to see his reaction to these incredible tracks. This album is so unbelievable and it’s so much fun to watch somebody hear it for the first time.
Lupe's touch the sky verse is SO underrated man. Midway to the end every line is a double, literally insane.
I agree. He should introduce his dad to Lupes Food and Liquor and The Cool.
First time I heard lupe was this verse! So great
I’ve been saying this for years lol I don’t feel like his verse has been appreciated and analyzed enough to this day. So many bars that I didn’t even catch until years later
I love the end especially
“Now let me end my verse right where the horns are” which is followed by the song’s brass melody.
It’s simple but it’s just so good
"I'm back on the block like I'm laying on the street"
If your dad really liked the singer on track 7 the original song is called “home is where the hatred is” - Gil Scott-Heron
Literally came to the comments for this 👍
yeah pieces of man is a proto rap record even
Gil Scott-Heron is such a legend
Bro I’m so happy with his reaction towards Diamonds From Sierra Leone, that song is insanely good. Every single time I listen to it I get chills, such an amazing piece 🤌🏽
Be by Common would be a great album to listen to at some point. With how much he's shown up on the channel and with Kanye's production it would be perfect
Also an entry point to JDilla
@@purdeegood One of my favorites ever
Connor said in a recent video that they were planning to react to it, if I remember correctly!
oh man that would be dope, Ye and Dilla's production is amazing on that, the intro track, Love Is... so good
As someone who grew up without a father I appreciate this even more. Thanks for sharing this wholesome experience.
lost mine the same year too. may they rest In peace
We major 🥹
His best lyrically to me as well
Bring me down, wish I could hear that for the fact time again after roses after those two I knew it was my favorite album
The wait was worth it! This is personally my favorite Kanye album and Brings a lot to his discography glad he enjoyed it
Thx Brub :)
@@kevinfromttt Yoooo kevin the legend himself
I got “shivers” just knowing how it feels to listen to diamonds from sierra leone for the first time
Don't you remember when you heard it first? For every first time listener, it must be a chilling, eye opening track.
@@ebenezeramare1 mustve been about 10 and it changed everything
I love your dad’s appreciation for the lyrics! He would love ALOT of hip hop🙌🏽👏🏼
RIP Donda
I feel like based on his reactions to the album's so far he's gonna be one of those fans that misses the old Kanye
@@Eli_jah_ well he seems to be really open-minded and I think he'll appreciate each album for what they are individually
@@chillywilly4282 I agree, especially with his understanding of music theory, we can all miss the old Kanye but appreciate what he's done and continues to do in every album
His take on Common is amazing. Nailed that shit right on the head. Well done dad!
Really envying your music relationship with your dad man, it’s honestly beautiful.
Yalls mixing is amazing, the sound quality of the album is incredible and your voices are the perfect volume in comparison
Gone is so underrated
facts.
@@joshkellerman4553 I think its top 3 kanye
100% Gone in my top 5, although in no particular order, Devil in a new dress, runaway, hold my liquor, Gone, flashing lights.
I also agree that Gone was a slow burner for me, it's quite a long album so was lost behind Touch the Sky and Heard em Say
Cannot wait for Kevin to listen to 808s and heartbreak especially after his reaction to hey mama and how Donda's death affected Ye
I absolutely love how excited Pops gets when experiencing the music!.. I wish Ye could see y'alls reactions... I'm sure he'd appreciate it!
Hey Mama always makes me emotional, it was really special seeing your dad react to it. Thank you for sharing, I love this channel so much, everything you put out feels so authentic I really enjoy it!!
this has become one of my favorite channels. it feels like I'm listening to my favorite albums again for the first time. keep it up guys
love seeing an older generation appreciating and listening to Kanye. makes me happy more and more people are still appreciating his discography
I expected Hey Mama, but seeing him tear up at Diamonds from Sierra Leone was a very welcome surprise
Kanye has a full and well rounded package
Well this aged like milk considering Donda and TLOP and Ye existing.
A phd, a pretty huge discography

Your relationship is so beautiful. I lost my dad on thanksgiving, and our shared music is what keeps us together, and me alive. How beautiful. The things we’ll cherish forever.
I'm sorry for your loss, live on
Your father's reaction to Diamonds a Forever and Mamma are priceless. I love listening back to these classics with you guys. Keep them coming!
could just be the beers but watching them listen to touch the sky brought some happy tears to my eyes. really threw me back to the days when i was 10 and 11 listening to the copies of college dropout and late registration that my mom bought me. made me remember when i was really starting to fall in love with a genre of music that shaped my life. beautiful moments and videos.
being born in 2003 I've never heard these albums in full.
@@Diana-zl3ue okie dokie. I'm only listening when they listen so it'll take as long as they do
Dude I'm in the exact same situation as you
03 gaaang
I’m loving his references to other hipho artist as he’s expanding his experience with this genre it’s so cool
Best one yet guys. Please do continue letting your dad play some guitar in-between bathroom breaks I love the format of this one and Connor you seem better able to chill on this one. Good work guys
Thx Ryan :)
Dad is a real music head. You can see that he knows his stuff eventhough it's a new genre to him
I really appreciate how you don't allow any bias for songs to seep through before you play them. You just give the pure information about the song, and let your dad give his completely fresh opinion. Great work.
I look forward to these the same way I look forward to movie releases, you are quickly becoming my favorite reaction channel
Watching someone who is very open minded when it comes to music and isnt familiar with kanyes music is great content. You can literally see him become a fan in real time. Cant wait for Graduation!
Late Registration is my all time favorite album, love that you're doing a reaction to it 🙌 👏
No mention of JON BRION!? He co-produced the entire album, he did Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Portishead, Fiona Apple…Kanye brought him on to handle all the piano and orchestration that’s why this album is so cinematic and warm with layers
man I wish they could work together again, but I guess Ye's sound currently is very different, completely minimalist and stripped back rather than the layers we hear on LR or MBDTF. Brion's work with Mac Miller is the closest
Punch-Drunk Love too
This is my favorite video of yours!! I knew Kevin would get emotional on Diamonds and Hey Mama. They are two crazy emotional songs and some of my favorite Kanye songs
I really dig your vibe guys, thank you for creating this little community of music lovers, really hope you can keep discovering that good music.
Gone and Late were originally hidden tracks that weren't listed on the CD. You had to listen to nothing for 2 minutes after the official last song to listen to them
This is the only Chanel that makes 45 min + videos that I actually sit through
kanye has one of the greatest discographies of any artist, idk how he can release such consistently good music
I don’t think anyone has one better
Love how he felt on Hey Mama. Such a powerful song till this day
21:40 That's Gil Scott-Heron.
Feel u. Gone is one of the fews I always go back to
@@Kneezus53 oh for me late registration is one of my favorite albums of his, so i listen to like at least 3/4ths the album constantly
I cannot express in words what pleasure I get watching your videos. Especially listening to Kanye's albums, because I am a huge Kanye fan myself. Thank you for sharing these reactions with us. Your dad is fantastic. From Russia with love.
UPD: You must definitely show your father late orchestration
y’all gotta do 808s and let him know he made that shit in 2 weeks
They are doing the releases in order
i didn't know that
808's a really hard one for me, because while it's got a couple of Kanye's best songs ever written, and is obviously one of the most influential albums in rap-pop... it also has two of Kanye's absolute worst songs too.
@@Yawnscast robocop and see you in my nightmares?. For me in Graduation that happens with Barry bonds and Drunk and hot girls

Can’t wait for you guys to get to 808’s and heartbreaks, and yeezus. Two of my favorite albums of all time.
