This is why I love Kanye. He literally is Bridging the Gap between the old school soul music and today's hip hop kids. The man is a musical encyclopedia. Also, the Remix of Diamonds comes first because the original was already out as a single before the album came out. Ye chose to mix it up when he released the album and put the Remix in there instead.
This album to me is overshadowed alot when it comes to Kanye Albums but it’s a gem cause to me it was the last time Kanye didn’t go so super technical and sticked to the traditional style of his production but to me Graduation is his Greatest Album Period! But Late Registration is Kanyes most smoothest listenable album after Graduation no doubt and the production is so laid back on this album✍🏽🐐🔥🔥🔥💯
@@jortsgod7892 that's the beauty about Kanye's music. Everyone can have a completely different top 10 and they would all be valid rankings. Kanye has the greatest discography of our generation
For me, sharing music with you two is like therapy. Listening to good music is like learning something about yourself, and the world around you. Thank u
I haven't been this invested in a series in a long time 😂 you and your pops are dope and I love how he breaks down the meanings of the songs without even needing you to explain it 👏🏾
Oh man, respect to the Lupe shoutout. He’s arguably one of the top lyricists of all time, if not the greatest. F&L is so under appreciated, as is Lupe! Imo, “The Cool” is his greatest work. Would love to see reactions on both! Keep up it, man. I’m grateful for being able to experience this era of music!
On the Late Registration CD, the Diamonds from Sierra Leone Remix comes before the original Diamonds. I remember way back around when the album dropped Kanye was asked about it and said he always intended for Jay-Z to on it to begin with. Late Registration came out at the height of the Jay-Dame beef when Jay had already left Roc-a-Fella for Def Jam and "retired". So it took him a while to get Jay into the studio to record that song.
So glad you brought up Common’s Be album. That came out a few months before Late Registration and it was a resurgence to Common’s career. I recommend that album to anyone, it was towards the end of my sophomore in high school. So much soul and deep lyrics. Your pops will definitely enjoy it
Thank you for this ! I cant wait to see more kanye is truly amazing, this album pretty much got me through my childhood fr I’m about to enjoy this whole video now
At 16:41 when you were talking about Lupe, I 100% agree. Hearing Lupe now and then his Food and Liquor album shows so much growth as a rapper the way he improved his breath control to spit some dope shit. Listening to any early track of Lupe and then hearing him do King Nas is mindblowing, personally. Can't wait to see what your pops thinks about Lupe's growth through his albums if you decide to branch into that.
To this day, this is still my favorite Kanye album. And yes, the remix to diamonds from sierra leone is also first in the album. And lastly, Diamonds are Forever which is sampled in Diamonds is in fact from a James Bond movie. With the same title that came out in 1971.
I agree, I think this is his best album, but there is plenty of competition. I actually like Diamonds From Sierra Leone with just him more than the remix, but I think Gone is the best song on the album.
This is not only my favorite Kanye album but this is my favorite RAP album of all time. I know I’m biased because I was born and raised in Chicago and my mom would play this in the car with me growing up, but being 25 now and revisiting this album on the regular I can take a deeper dive and really dissect it in sections and it’s just an absolute BANGER from start to finish of a piece of art. From the intoxicating smooth beats with jazz and funk elements,to the fantastic transitions into one another. The lyrics are engaging and well sounded. You can actively listen and here what he’s saying with his incredible word pacing and flow through it all. Incredible features that really lift the songs their on to another level. And all in all, the atmosphere and over all vibe/feel of this album is just so great. Makes you feel good and like you can take on the world, to sad and personal moments that you can really hit in your feels at times. I will always love this album forever and ever and I listen to A LOT of rap of all decades and time periods and I love rap, but THIS ALBUM, THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE, THIS SHIT FOREVER HOT! Sorry for the book, but if you read it all you’re a real one lol
I mean, I notice the dad paying a lot of attention to the instrumentals which I often miss because I'm focused on lyrics. His dad probably misses bars all the time (or at least would without lyrics up). I really think it's all to do with what you go into music looking for, and his dad's probably used to focusing on music more than words. Kanye is imo the quintessential rapper for people who focus on the beat.
These first three albums play such an important part in my life, the first 5 or so do but especially the first 3, I was in europe withdrawing from stuff I was addicted to at the time and felt like hell the whole week, but I was listening to these albums on repeat the first time I heard them and it was a game changer, practically every single song was on constant replay
Definitely have you two react to Common's Be, that's like a companion piece to Late Registration as he produced both records simultaneously in 05. This my favorite Kanye record of all time too so watching people listen to LR for the first time is real special for me. Props
I like that your dad said it’s a classy rap album, Kanye really bridged the gap between the hood and upper class enjoying rap music. He made rap acceptable in higher society.
Man, I really love you guys. I’ve loved hip hop my whole life. Most of my life hip hop was my whole life but only a small amount of my life I had a chance to enjoy hip hop and all music with other people how you guys enjoy music together. Not only do I enjoy watching people enjoy music and critique it but your channel in particular is reacting to the most influential albums to me in my life being a baby of 91. Kanye, 50, Eminem, dr Dre, pac, biggie, outkast. nas, jay-z, and etc etc really is awesome seeing a father of our generation enjoy it. Your father’s ear for music production, melodies and orchestration is amazing. I really feel like he’s someone who appreciates music as much as I do. I just discovered you less than a week ago and have watched you react to 5 or so albums together and a bunch of clips from instagram and it’s truly therapeutic for me being someone who moved to another country and haven’t had this connection with someone over music besides reaction videos really people and channels like you online have become my friends to enjoy and share music with. Thanks for doing what you do. Thanks for being cool and really and enjoying music the way I do. Kanye specifically really resonates with me and makes me emotional. He’s so great at everything he does but has been truly destroyed by the loss of his mother- he was never the same and he really seems to take criticism to heart and he’s so criticized for just being him, even if he’s wild and you don’t agree with him and what he does it’s tough watching what I feel is a truly sensitive, genuine and free thinking artists. The production and genius of Kanye really shines on this album. The first two songs are all you need to hear to know that Kanye’s production level on this album was out of this world. I don’t agree with ye but I always empathize with him and maybe forgive him more than I should because of his genius in music and his influence on my life. I feel money, fame, arrogance, people putting him down no matter how great and legendary he’s become and On top of that losing his mother and knowing what she meant to him it’s hard not to sympathize and empathize with him for me. You can’t box him in, he’ll always be an outside of the box, genius.
Awww shit. I just subscribed to y’all waiting for this reaction and a few days later here it is. I’m with Dad, off top “Heard Em Say” sets this album apart from his debut. Late Registration is def my favorite Kanye album. Love how you explained screw music to him and would love to see y’all explore some Gil Scott Heron (especially a track like “B Movie”) 🙏🏽♥️🔥
when it comes to early kanye late registration is my go-to cuz of all the classics like gold digger, we major, touch the sky, diamonds and so on but also cuz of the insane amount of amazing “deep-cuts” like heard em say, gone, crack music, celebration, late (basically the whole tracklist). u can really tell that he put all of himself into this album and him working with jon brion was exactly what he needed to make it so cinematic and classy. im glad u picked up on the same things i do when listening to this. yet another dope video from yall keep it up !
Common- Be Kendrick- TPAB Tribe- Low End Theory Lupe- Food n Liquor Nas- Stillmatic Lauryn Hill- The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill(Although considered both half Hip Hop and R&B) All different generations but i feel your Pops will like the beats and the rhymes
It’s so cool watching someone react to something for the first time when I’ve heard it a million times. Just drives home how much of a masterpiece this album really is.
The music for Diamonds from Sierra Leone and it's remix were in fact taken from the theme song for the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever. Kanye has said when he was working on this song that he was trying to go for a Rock Power Ballad type of sound kind of like the 1986 song The Final Countdown, from the Swedish Rock band Europe.
LR is top 3 Kanye for me. In my opinion it’s the best release to come out of Kanye’s old school soul sampling production. There’s rarely a song here that is below a great in its rating. Just to show how consistent and engaging this album is. Love what y’all doing content wise♥️ so far I’ve watched good kid maad city and this video but I’m already hooked
It’s crazy how underrated Ye still is as a WRITER for this time, people act like it’s just the production and his rapping is ok but songs like crack music are like amazingly written. The parallels to cooking and cutting crack to doing the same with music is the kind of thing you’ll probably never hear him do now he just doesn’t go that deep anymore
I think that's cause nowadays it's not his priority, but when he wants to rap he RAPS, i mean there's ass verses on Donda and then you get something beautiful like Come To Life
Crack Music is one of my favorite songs off this album and I love Roses. Kanye's musical ear is unmatched. Every time I hear Crack Music I imagine an hbcu band and the fraternity step dancing to it. I can't wait till your dad hears Graduation. Flashing Lights is going to blow his mind.
Nice catch pops cuz "Diamonds are forever" is a sample from exactly that. A James Bond movie with the same name from -71😉 The original is a real great song to✌🏽 (Diamonds From Sierra Leone)
Your Father is ABSOLUTELY going to LOVE Graduation. Shorter album, but really expanded the sound. Killer pieces of production and arguably Yé at his peak.
This a top 10 all time rap album for me personally...shit is amazing...I remember standing in line to buy this and being amazed blasting it all the way home threw my CD player
Yessssss listen to food & liquor and the cool definitely classic albums!!! I remember listening to lupe on this. I was like who is this? I loved watching thundercats as a kid because of my older brothers and he spit “ I’m laying on the street, I’m trynna stop lion like mum ra but I’m not lying when I’m laying on the beat” so crazy man I love that bar. Also him coming into the verse saying “guess who’s on the third lupe steal like lupin the 3rd” he’s so clever man!!!
I highly recommend showing your pops 'Conflict Diamonds' By Lupe, which uses the Sierra Leone instrumental. That's a great introduction to his lyrical talent before showing him Food And Liquor. Another great up load, bro 👌
“Crack raised the murder rate in DC and Maryland, we invested in that, it’s like we got Merrill Lynched” That bar is so insane it’s one of my favorite Kanye bars ever.
This is going to sound like an oxymoron, I’m a big kanye fan but never listened to college dropout and late reg in full. Loved the singles growing up but started listening from graduation and just never went to listen to the albums. Finally did and that’s what led me to look at reactions. Late Registration is top 3 kanye albums and it’s not number 3. Amazing I have it on repeat. Celebration is my favourite after 3 listens of the entire album. Love this reaction video.
@@kingglobby4179 I loved hearing the album in order, I love that the singles still standout till this day - All falls down, new workout plan (my favourite), through the wire, Jesus walks (obviously). I just loved filling in the listening gaps of hearing how these singles sounded within an album and it’s such an excellent debut. (That through the fire sample is still so fire).
When your father said it gives him James Bond vibes he was technically right on Diamonds from Sierra Leone. That song sampled Diamonds are Forever which is featured on a James Bond film.
Kanye most full and best album not one skip and 21 tracks !! Slept on cause of graduation and MBDTF but people forget about this classic , following y’all for a min and still enjoy the old vids I wasn’t around for !
I think your dad mixed up Adam Lavine with Blake Sheldon when he called him a country singer 😂. So happy your doing reactions to the discography of one of the most iconic artists in hip-hop. I’m hoping for some more Kendrick though and TPAB in the near future.
Love this concept. I lost my dad in 2018 and miss him so much. I know you said you didnt like the Eminem show that much but as much as your dad liked the marshall Mathers LP I still think it would be entertaining to watch you revisit it with him. Maybe you'll like some of it more, maybe not. Look forward to more from you guys regardless..
Gone is a masterpiece. Loved watching yall react, I’d love to see dad react to cams first few albums come home with me and purple haze. And the diplomatic immunities he might really appreciate the new type of production sound they brought to hip hop.
The sample from "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" was the opening track by Shirley Bassey for a Sean Connery James Bond movie ("Diamonds are Forever"), so yeah, it does sound like a movie score =)
I'm just like you when I listen to this album, I just gotta rap along. Late Reg is probably my fav Kanye album and it's great to see your dad take to it so well. Kanye + Jon Brion is a match made in heaven.
“She said she wanted diamonds so I took her to Ruby Tuesdays.” I swear, Kanye’s humor is so underrated in his rhymes.
I worked at ruby Tuesday when this album dropped, loved that line...
He’s Luda level funny
"If a stripper named Porsche n she get tips from many men, then her fat friend, her nickname is 'Minivan'"💀💀
Agreed. Everyone loves when Eminem does it. But when Kanye does it they call him stupid?

Shout to you guys all the way from Saudi Arabia .. love your energy.. watched this while I’m in the gym
Yooo shout out to Saudi Arabia!
Tell me I ain't the only one hyped for the Food & Liquor reaction! 🔥🔥
35:18 undeniable. Everyone eventually comes to the same conclusion when analyze the art.
Lets goooo! My favorite of the College series! Ya pops be loving the background harmonies 🤣
Love this album and yasss definitely can't wait for the Food & Liquor reaction
Thanks for doing this for the culture! This is my fave Kanye album 🙏🏽
@S l i m S h a d y ツ it’s the top tier soul sample production with some of Kanye’s best lyrical outings. Top 3 for sure
Both of your energies bring me joy, love those videos
Let's Go!! Rapid fire with the 2 Ye albums, love it
Man I love your videos, great to see people having an appreciation for rap and Kanye.
1:27 no puedo imaginarme el placer de encontrar una canción que te gusta siendo usada de sample, realmente me hypeo un montón ver a tu papá asi!

Love this! Gonna be great seeing the progression
Can’t wait to tune in a listen to this one, I need my bridging the gap fix lol. A group to consider should be the fuegees
Come To Life is an absolutely fantastic song from a writing perspective but it's definitely not his main style nowadays
The last track on the delux album is ' we can make it better,' one of the best on the album your father would love it
Thanks for sharing your love between you and your father. Early Kanye hits deep for me!
Best Kanye album I will stand by this forever
Heard Em Say, Roses & Hey Mama so good. Hope ur pops likes them, just starting the vid
We major is the definition of mac-nasty. Absolutely love these videos!! Keep it up man
Your Father is ABSOLUTELY going to LOVE Graduation. Shorter album, but really expanded the sound. Killer pieces of production and arguably Yé at his peak.
College Dropout and Late Registration have some amazing vibes. Dude's a legend!
Finally had to subscribe. We got the same era and ear for it. Good Kid, Food and Liquor and Late Registration
This a top 10 all time rap album for me personally...shit is amazing...I remember standing in line to buy this and being amazed blasting it all the way home threw my CD player
Let's go! His best album and it's not close! 10/10 front to back PERFECTION.
Best part about Kanye is you could quote this in regards to like any of his first 6 albums
MBDTF is def his best album.
@@bored4161 TLOP as well

Yessssss listen to food & liquor and the cool definitely classic albums!!! I remember listening to lupe on this. I was like who is this? I loved watching thundercats as a kid because of my older brothers and he spit “ I’m laying on the street, I’m trynna stop lion like mum ra but I’m not lying when I’m laying on the beat” so crazy man I love that bar. Also him coming into the verse saying “guess who’s on the third lupe steal like lupin the 3rd” he’s so clever man!!!
I like everything about this your pops really know what he’s talking about aside he has good vibes !!
nice catch by dad with the james bond ref. shirley bassey (the voice of the diamonds sample) was the singer on sean connery’s james bond soundtrack.
I highly recommend showing your pops 'Conflict Diamonds' By Lupe, which uses the Sierra Leone instrumental. That's a great introduction to his lyrical talent before showing him Food And Liquor. Another great up load, bro 👌
seeing ur dad's reaction to addiction really brought me to the point where I heard it for the first time, one of my all time favorite kanye songs
I'm listening to all his shit I'm order, I'm on Yeezus
TLOP next
What did you like from TCD?
@@kingglobby4179 I loved hearing the album in order, I love that the singles still standout till this day - All falls down, new workout plan (my favourite), through the wire, Jesus walks (obviously).
I just loved filling in the listening gaps of hearing how these singles sounded within an album and it’s such an excellent debut. (That through the fire sample is still so fire).
@@fitchgirl02 I actually don't think there's a single bad song, either
Really lookin forward for the rest of the Kanye reactions crazy how he just keeps getting better
I love the vibe of celebrations
ouu can’t wait to watch this, i’m in a long car road trip this is gonna be so fun to watch 🔥🔥
Have a safe trip!
@@BridgingTheGapYT thank you!
I lost my dad three gears ago yall videos give me life
Luv ♥️
My dads bestfriend is Really Doe from the track We Major, i found out Really Doe is helping Kanye with his new album in Germany
That's awesome. Ye and really doe knew each other since like the early 90s or something, I think he was part of Kanye's group the go getters.
@@tadknuf7979 yea it’s great seeing how much connections can be made in this world, god bless you bro
Really doe?
@@watchf yes
this is great. excited for more reactions
My favourite album of all time, can't wait to watch this, hope your dad enjoys it
Gone is a masterpiece. Loved watching yall react, I’d love to see dad react to cams first few albums come home with me and purple haze. And the diplomatic immunities he might really appreciate the new type of production sound they brought to hip hop.
The Kanye train. 🚂 You can never go wrong here.
I hope this channel keeps growing 🙏, wishing the best for you guys! I enjoy the videos the bond between you two is amazing
The sample from "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" was the opening track by Shirley Bassey for a Sean Connery James Bond movie ("Diamonds are Forever"), so yeah, it does sound like a movie score =)
Ready for that Graduation 🔥 Hope your pops likes it
The intro and first few lines of heard em say always grab my soul
BROOO THIS JUST MADE MY FUCKIN WEEKEND
I'm just like you when I listen to this album, I just gotta rap along. Late Reg is probably my fav Kanye album and it's great to see your dad take to it so well. Kanye + Jon Brion is a match made in heaven.
