The '69 Torino's were some of the cars in the parking lot when I was in high school. Never thought I would see one running 11.2's with a 302 someday. Great job!

your car rips, with a 302, really something. just subscribed. not familiar with your car setup, but seems there's more in it if you can get it to launch a little better. losing too much rpm and flywheel energy when clutch is engaged, but that's often part of running a small displacement engine. you are having fun with a great car, engine and performance. I just stumbled across this channel for the first time tonight. I played around bracket racing at NED back in '73 with my '69 428 SCJ Mach1. I'm a diehard Ford guy and have been my entire 75 years ! Back in '68 I ordered up a '69 Torino GT fastback 390 4spd. car, loaded with all the bells and whistles at Lexington Ford. Street raced the shit outta that thing. Broke it in hard and it ran really good. Looks like a Ma. plate on your car ? I was born in Lexington. You may not want to divulge your location, and that's understandable. Anyway I'm subscribed now so I'll see any new stuff. We gotta keep the Fords all FORD !! Hate this LS shit in Foxbodies 😠!!
@@mikeymac9 Oh ok. I drove a triaxle dumptruck for a couple of years for a friend in Marlborough that had a stroke back in 2014. And yes ALL FORD for sure.
That car looks just like my brothers best friends car back when we were in high school in the early 80's. Same year and same color. Can't remember if it was a 427 or a 428. His dad was one of the top mechanics for a local Ford dealership and they spent several years building it. Nice car.
Im very happy for you your personal best , it was neat to see how excited you were, there is just something about this car i get a kick out of seeing you run this thing , that little motor just really pulls hard nice job
This was an awesome video. I am so happy for you. I wish I could duplicate your performance. Did I hear something about a GT500 that runs faster? Is there videos that I’m missing of that?
@@Goodvibrations-Impickingup I have a 2011 GT 500 that I don’t race at all. But we are taking it to test and tune tonight to see how we do. Going to take it easy and not break it but it make 665 wheel hp. Probably won’t video.
Outstanding! It's lighter than I expected. Have you tried going down to 13-12 lbs in the tires? Maybe that will help the 60ft, of course that slows reaction time a tiny bit because the tires have to wind up a little more. I'm impressed with your consistency with the stick with lifting on the gas on the shift. I agree, with the decision to put it up for the season while it's running great. Wipe it down, put a wrench on everything, drain the water, get the slicks off the ground. Now, get those edges sharp and lube and test release the bindings, maybe loosen the settings just a tiny bit till you get warmed up. Carve some turns and bash some moguls for me. None of that down here in Alabama. I have an input seal leaking on my C6 in my 64 Galaxie, so I guess I'll pull the trans soon.
@@davidkeeton6716 I have tried lower but it gets into bogging pretty good. New England Dragway is prepped pretty good. I should have added more air and see how high I could have gotten it but I was trying to be consistent.
@mikeymac9 Have you thought about going to a heavier flywheel to maintain rotational energy on launch, like they used to do back in the 80s in M/P cars and the old junior stockers turning 9-10k on the line. ZZZzzing! I mean you have rev limiters.. Just a thought.
@@davidkeeton6716 I have had a heavier flywheel. It’s faster with the light one. I think the heavy flywheel is a very old school way of thinking. Why not put a heavy crank pulley on it too right? Guys today have shared data showing the little gain on the starting line is lost down track after each gear. Cale Aronson has a great video on it. Worth the watch. My issue is clutch application. Need an adjustable clutch or just do a better job lol
Man that thing is beauitful and Fast! the 11R heads are killer, and if that thing weighs 3160 with you in it(you don't look like a small human 🙂) it is a giant tin box! do you run a thin cometic head gasket? wondering if a touch more compression might pick up anything. ever do full throttle shifts? will the T-5 handle it? would a better oil pan/windage tray/crank scraper help any? curious about another 5-10 hp here and there. bowl work? touch up the valve job? not sure if any of that would help. she runs killer man, and looks great doing it. keep it up!
