No
I love Gal as Wonder Women. However i think Gunn should completly reboot everything and start on a blank slate. Don't keep any of the DCEU actors.
Absolutely not
No thank you
I don’t hate her as an actress but no just recast her
I appreciate Gal Gadot's WW as much as the next fan but... If you're determined to do a full reboot and start FRESH? Then DO NOT half-ass it by keeping actors from the past universe. Redo and recast EVERYTHING.
They already can’t do that as Gunn has committed to doing Peacemaker S2 and a Waller spin-off.
So they keep Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman because they love her role but they fired Henry Cavill?
@@liamphibia Do you realy think that DC uses logic in their choises?
No half measures waltah
@@geenkaas6380
Nope. James Gunn has a lot of cleaning up and freshening things out to do. Being CEO of an entire studio is not gonna be as easy as being a director and writer.
I truly think that the only way the DCEU is going to work if they start from scratch, and do something truly new. Anything else immediately requires a multiverse, and even for Marvel who built up to this for 10 years it's clearly something that is hit or miss with each movie. It needs to be grounded and unburdened by the convoluted bunch of movies we already have.
Thing is, they're already going to do a Peacemaker Season 2. So there's already characters coming back. Unless you completely separate Gunn's Suicide Squad from the DCEU. And I'm guessing he'll keep Margot Robbie as Harley as well.
@@aprophetofrng9821 The TV shows need to be kept separate as well. Do what Netflix did with their Marvel shows.
@@equivalentexchangeisalie5726I'd love that too but they also want their series and animated shows connected to the new DCU. Even the new animated DC Universe, the Tomorrowverse is already having a Infinite Crisis event just to reset the universe again with less than 10 movies because Gunn also wants the animated universe to be part of the DCU. But like what you said, it may be better if they just stick to movies because that's what I'd want too. Either way, I think it isn't Gunn's fault since Warner probably wants to milk the DCU as much as possible if they become successful that's why they're doing these moves
It wont. The genre is exhausted and rather than better up and coming actors , they are coming up with weaker leads and mouthy politicised actors ... it wont matter if it is recast. it makes sense, but it wont matter.
What about the Show Superman and Lois? They used the same actors that were introduced in Supergirl, but these characters are in a different universe from Supergirl, even though they used the same actors playing the same parts! Seems to me they can reboot a universe and still cast some actors that were in the previous show.
Given what they did to the Wonder Woman character in the LAST WW movie, I would think Gal Gadot would rejoice in separating from the NEXT DC Universe fiasco.
You mean you don't want a rapist Wonder woman?
She doesn’t want to be there and it shows.
Even if that was the case I don't think it would be in her best interest to say that
@@blakeburressthen why does she keep coming back for cheap cameos?
She'll come back if they pay her.
I would love more if they Recast Wonder Woman and start DC from Scratch.
Everybody wants this and it’s infuriating that Gunn won’t do it to keep his friends employed. I don’t care how talented he is because the level of selfishness with him is exhausting and doesn’t work with his role as a CEO.
Why though? Why even have a comic book universe if they're going to reboot it 5 times in 10 years? Why not just go back to how superhero movies used to be when nothing was connected, they were just standalone movies
The thing is that DC almost seems to be restarting from scratch, but it never works.
Make One More Than Recast
That would make too much sense therefore DC won’t do that.
DC should just give up on the idea of a cinematic universe altogether, the time for that has passed. Even Marvel is struggling to make it work now. Just do great standalone movies/trilogies, and leave it at that.
completely agree. DC dropped the ball way too early, and now it's too late. the ship has sailed
It way too bad to not have an alternate agenda. There's no way people are agreeing that everything in the last ten years was a good idea. No way
@@user-mm8vw1ow1x lol I love the idea of a real-life lex Luthor burning billions of dollars of WBs money just to ruin Superman's reputation
The issue with Gadot weirdly reminds me of the problem with Finn Wolfhard, where when he was cast it was such an exciting hyped up time and was carried by a huge ensemble cast that it launched him into stardom and he started showing up everywhere, only as he got older and appeared in more stuff it became very clear that he had a very limited range in terms of acting ability.
ID say he is a lot better than most teen actors this generation
Welcome to anchor fatigue. Why do you think we are sick of girls asking Tom Holland to play every male character and Zendaya to play every female lead?
🤣 Bro he's only 20. Give him a break
Finn si still better than Gal Gadot.
@@Blast2224Before Zendaya it was Jennifer Lawrence with her Hunger Games success. That actress was EVERYWHERE.
It should've been a complete reboot for the DCU. Regular movie goers are going to be so confused on which actors are in this universe.
I think hardcore fans forget 90% of people that go to the cinema don't care about universe stuff.
Gal Gadot appears "oh the wonder lady, I like her".
@@cancerino666 I literally heard a lady as she walked past the poster for MCUs Marvels say "Ooh, Women!"😂
I think they have been soft-pedaling it because management expected The Flash and Aquaman 2 to be billion-dollar movies. Following the disaster of The Flash and diminished expectations for Aquaman, I suspect we'll get a full reboot, plus/minus holding over Beetle (if that movie works) and some of the Suicide Squad/Peacemaker stuff. None of that was actually tied enouh to the main DC heroes that you can't handwave it.
@cancerino666
Yeah, definitely.
It's 2023, and post-credit scenes at Marvel have been a thing for FIFTEEEN YEARS, and yet at every cinema screening there are still 90% of the audience that are normies walking out as soon as the credits roll.
With all of these movies, only fans give a shit. The general audience won't have seen the Cavill post-credit in Black Adam, and will just accept any actor with an S on his chest. Likewise with Flash, it'll have been "oh cool, Batman" and maybe a percentage can recall that it's meant to be 1989 Batman.
I mean, did anyone get confused (or actually care) when Ruffalo appeared as Hulk instead of Norton?
@@EmeraldCityVideo In their defense, they also really manage to get lead actors who end up being widely hated by the public. First Amber Heard and then Ezra Miller.
They really needed to do a Full 100% reboot
Honestly, I don't really enjoy Patty's vision of Wonder Woman and I'm ready for someone else helming Diana Prince.
samesies. I think it got by a lot on the fact that it wasn’t the worst dc movie we’ve ever seen and also that no one had done a ww big screen movie before and not much else. the bar was really low.
@@SunnyGoesIn1DYes, the landscape in 2017 was very different. We were seeing comparisons between Wonder Woman and Black Panther -which would never happen now. People were excited about it being the "first". I did enjoy WW in BvS that version was much more epic than what 1984 would offer...
It wasn’t Patty’s vision of WW. I liked Zack’s vision of WW
The first movie made 650 mil in profit............. A third seems logical. We have no idea of the second would have done well because of the release
Why are you blaming the actress? Why not blame Patty instead? Do you want her race swapped? Do you want a black woman to play Wonder Woman is that why?
Personally, I'm 100% OK with Gadot leaving. She never really embodied Wonder Woman to me. Plus, she's just not that good of an actress. She was fine in the first WW movie, but aside from that, she's always seemed pretty stiff acting wise.
What? What are you talking about?
@@liamphibiait’s true Gal’s not a great actress, especially since that’s not her original profession. In her first few appearances it was palatable but if you watch any of her recent movies her delivery almost always falls flat
True. And needless to say she's also not a good voice actress either.
*Cough* Ralph Breaks the Internet *Cough*
I don't mean to be too negative, but I was thinking the same thing earlier today. I've never felt like she was a good fit for WW and her acting in other movies i've seen of her hasn't convinced me so far. Maybe she'll do great in something in the future, but it's not this character.
I was actually surprised to hear Cap'n Midnight mention it as well, because I've never really heard people talk bad about her acting
She is a model and a good one. When a scene needs her to pose, she does a damn good job. Like that scene from JL where she's standing on a statue and posing, watching a bank robbery; A class. In the DC reboot she can be cast as one of Batman's gargoyles.
Lets be honest. They should just make solo movies without connections between them. Make a new superman that resembles the Christopher Reeve ones. Invest in the RP Batman, etc. DC works better with solo movies and with great directors own touch. Less is more.
Glad they aren’t listening to you
@@Michael-mt6yb he's right tho

I think in general audiences are very burned out on super hero movies, personally i just roll my eyes at hearing about any super hero films in the last year.
Correction: burned out on Bad superhero movies
@@ajanaya8055 true unfortunately that's what's been coming out, souless corporate superhero movies 🥲
People are tired of sub-par movies in general, it has nothing to do with Superheros. Look how popular and well received Guardians 3 was, look at stuff like The Boys and Invincible on TV, they're 2 of the most popular shows that exist right now.
@@omegashinra7672 I think for comic fans, or die hard fans of the genre, there will always be a place for superhero movies. For your average consumer, not so much. Comics and superhero movies have a lot in common with soap operas and serials in that you have the same characters recycled over and over again. This isn't a problem for die hard fans but the average movie goer will get bored and these movies require absurd amounts of profits to make back their absurdly high budgets. I suspect that the headwinds effecting the rest of the industry will impact the superhero genre as well in that we'll see smaller budgets and scaled back productions that focus on more intimate storytelling as the overall movie industry contracts (possibly implodes).
Whilst I thought Wonder Woman was a good and entertaining movie, I have always had trouble with Gadot being cast in the role. I always felt that whilst she was able to convey warmth she lacked charisma and at times coming off wooden. Without sounding harsh (as English is her second language to Hebrew) I felt she struggled with enunciation of words and felt her acting range was limited.
But going back to her strengths, Gadot's warmth as person is what shines.
i mean diana's first language is greek so you can explain it in universe
"I can’t understand a single word that this b*tch is saying" - Mike Stoklasa reviewing Gal Gadot’s performance in Batman v Superman
Innthe comics wonder woman was all over the place- I don't remember any really consistent WW personality.
@@MichaelJohnson-vi6eh That’s absolutely true and nobody can admit it. In contrast to Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman never had a clear personality.
Golden Age Wondy was fetish material for the author. Silver Age was Bland Generic Hero. Linda Carter was Christopher Reeves with boobs. Bronze Age was briefly depowered Emma Peel. Dark Age was either bitchy feminist or We Don’t Care.
They could establish a completely new personality for her for the movies and nobody would notice.
She is a bit stiff but can learn her trade, wasn’t she a beauty queen? Long way from beauty queen to staring in a movie.
I was typing “the problem is Gadot can’t act” but I was thinking nah that’s too mean. But yeah it’s kinda just the truth and I’m glad someone’s saying it
It's not mean to state the obvious, cuz she's beautiful people aren't honest about her
Margo Robbie is a better example of being beautiful and able to act
@@ninjanibba4259Exactly. Ppl wanna chalk up Margot fame to only looks, and yeah duh thats a big part of it, but like her and Ana de Armas, their career is full of actual risk-taking, really good character-work, and consistent depth. I mean there’s plenty attractive stars that don’t get too far cuz of skills, even Armie Hammer is an example. Also Margot is a damn producer now, she literally hired Greta Gerwig for Barbie, and also worked on I, Tonya outside of the acting. Gal Gadot has never rlly proven willing to do much but coast on her fame, she’s not that bad of a person, but she’s also not that talented either, and that sounds mean but I’m glad someone else finally said it in the nicest possible way. I mean i dont think Gal herself thinks she’s amazing either or anything
@@GuineaPigEverydayAna de Armas is an example of an actress who keeps pushing herself and, more often than not, delivers.
I love how she started off finding difficulty speaking English but now can do any English-speaking role very convincingly - that is truly a sign of good acting talent.
KAL AL, nooo.
Everytime I see her in a movie I think she's a gorgeous model.
She doesn't have the acting skills for character work and she didn't improve much over the years.
Rebooting the entire universe while simultaneously deciding to continue with pre-reboot continuity for some characters seems pretty accurate to DC's comic book universe reboots.
When they announced the DC Studios slate, Gunn and Safran made an interview where Gunn said that Gal was ready to return and they didn't know what to do with that.
There's also Gunn's comments on Twitter/X about wanting to make a Wonder Woman animated series.
My guess is that Gal will return as Wonder Woman in said animated series, but not in live-action for now.
She's bad enough of an actress I can only imagine how bad she's as a voice actress.
If animated series, no one should voice Wonder Woman more than Susan Eisenberg.
@@night1952ironically, the very core of Wonder Woman is her voice. That is how you get a solid performance of an actress who should play Wonder Woman. Listen to Eisenberg in JLA. You can feel it in the very core of your soul that this is Wonder Woman. Gal doesn’t have that. She has the looks, the costumes and sometimes the smile. But never the voice. Which is crucial. Gal would be horrible as a voice actress.
As good as Gal Gadot is in portraying WW, its mostly been the story and the writing that has carried the movies than Gal Gadot herself. We need a powerhouse of an actor to take it all the way in future movies.
Who though?
Gina Carano
@@randyschwaggins No. She's a terrible person with too much controversy around her.
@concept5631 how is Gina a terrible person?
@@electronichaarp2835 Transphobia
Honestly the best thing to do to reboot DC would be to take a solid 5 years and not do anything with them. Remember back in 2012 when Sony rebooted Spider-Man people still thought that was too soon. Take a few years develop a solid plan, get everyone behind the scenes on the same page, and casual audiences will move on from the old DCEU the way they did from the old Batman to Chris Nolan’s movies. Sadly WB executives won’t do this.
WB doesn’t seem to understand the sun has set on superhero movies.
What’s their plan? 2 Superman’s, 2 Batman’s, a WW, a flash, maybe a couple other side character movies like green lantern, then their new justice league? That’s 10 movies…who the f*** is all in for 10 more comic movies? I’m honestly curious what kind of person could stomach that in 2023.
Build out your Dune universe. Unlike your last 5 comic movies, Dune 1 was successful, Dune 2 looks amazing. Great director behind it. Tons of lore and books to use before rubbish writers run out of source material.
Well, the biggest issue with rebooting spiderman that fast was they got alex kirtzman involved and it was terribly written.
Had it been good people wouldnt have cared. They could have multiple different spiderman versions at the same time and people wouldnt care as long as they were done well. Thas been prove by the batman and joker. Even when one version of those characters isnt so liked, they can make a version people do like at the exact same time.
Which is already kinda hapening with the animated spiderverse movies and tom holland spiderman.
So the ongoing strike is a blessing in disguise.
Thank You! This, so much. I have been saying quite a bit lately, Gadot doesn't have the cache she thinks she does. It's clear she went to the Dwayne Johnson school of marketing, but aside from WW, the original, she's been downright awful in everything else. I also don't think she has the status that is needed to stand next to the dumpster fire that is Rachel Ziegler and the new 'Snow White' movie and come away unscathed.
Bro I’m glad someone finally made a video about this, because as a DC fan who’s super excited about the DCU, this aspect has been annoying!
Imagine where we'd be if the DCEU was started from a place of passion instead of being a half assed, greedy attempt to chase trends and catch up with their competitors.
@@cyatram BRO I KNOW. I’m super hopeful for this new version, and I think it will be good, but I worry that even if it is, it may bomb since it seems like the DC brand was permanently tarnished by Batman V. Actually, I think you CAN attribute a reasonable amount of these movies failure to James and Peter. It was a foolhardy decision to go and announce the reboot with four DCEU movies yet to be shown! Rank amateur mistake.
Yeap, bad decision.
So obviously stupid, it's astonishing that anyone thought of it, let alone went ahead and did it.
I don't owe a millionaire actor anything so I have no problem trashing Gadot's acting. When she began her exposition of Earth's "grand" battle in the Snyder's cut, I began laughing so hard that I couldn't take anything else the movie said seriously. The awful caterwauling of that choir already had me giggling, but that really sent me over the edge.
Here's the thing about Gal being so connected to the old DC continuity though: Why was she everywhere, doing lots of cameos and just being in all of it? It seems like it was because she had *genuine passion for the project* on top of being popular with fans. The original Womder Woman is still probably the best-regarded of the whole mess of a series, with only really Aquaman and Gunn's Suicide Squad competing, and they'll probably at least try to keep Mamoa and Marco Robbie around too just because their characters and performances were popular.
I'm not against them *trying* to keep the handful of things that actually *did work* in those movies. There aren't a ton of them, but if the whole point of a film continuity is building on the things people liked before, then it doesn't make any sense to throw out the things people *did like before* when you actually have some.
My problem with keeping Gal and Momoa isn't that they're kept (I love their performances), but the fact that they threw out Cavill for this but kept them
Nah, if you are going to reboot, you got to recast everyone
The more studios try and fail to create an extended universe, the more we realise how amazing it was that Marvel got it right. Truly capturing lightning in a bottle.
It’s not lightning in a bottle, its a thing called planning
@@Michael-mt6yb Right. Kevin Feige makes plans and tries to stick to those, DCEU had no actual planning.
@@Michael-mt6ybfr like even Marvel is trash now BECAUSE OF LACK OF PLANNING , nothing special as comics have done it for decades but its the cash grab nature of Hollywood and movie studios in general that fail
The thing is, the people behind the DCEU tried to take shortcuts. As a result us DC fans looked like clowns. Sad to see such a great franchise be represented like this. At least we still have the animated stuff 🤷🏽♂
@@cyatramAnd the comics! The comics themselves are great!
I like gal gadot a lot , I don’t blame her at all for this stuff.
Wonder Woman is a very difficult role to cast. She’s not just a beautiful princess, she’s not just a butt-kicking action heroine, she’s not just an ambassador preaching a message of peace, she’s not just an inspirational icon of femininity-she’s a weird amalgamation of all of them. That’s a big part of why we’ve had tons of live-action Spider-Men, Supermen, Batmen, etc., but only two (officially released) Wonder Women. They managed to get someone who can encompass all of that in Gadot, and I fear trying to find someone new will ruin that delicate balance.
100% spot on awesome summary of the issue.
There's a few latina actresses I can think of that could do that.
Gadot is most of that. Her acting just isn't good.
Most heroes are amalgamations of a wide range of positive messages, WW is no exception really. I don't think WW as a character is that hard to cast, unlike a character like Moon Knight, for example (with the actor needing to convincingly play 2-3 roles, all at once). The only prerequisite is that the actor being given the role should be good at acting, which for all the positive things that Gadot has going on for her as WW, can't be called her strongest suit
Agreed. I think people are understanding what Gadot brought to the role. Just the few clips of the WW TV pilot from a few years ago, the woman playing Diana just did not have it.
I have a bad feeling blue beetle is gonna flip bad. I haven’t heard any online excitement about it except from core fans. And might do the same if not worse than Shazam
Every trailer I see makes it look better. I was kind of interested in seeing it on Max but now I want to see it in theaters.
I saw it in theaters and enjoyed it, but I only knew it existed because I pay attention to my theaters showings. I haven't seen a SINGLE piece of marketing for this movie.
I know I have no insider knowledge whatsoever, but I think they did say that to her and were going to go with Gal, but Shazam & The Flash bombing made them have to rethink some things.
I LOVED the DCEU. Even when it sucked I’ll always love it. But at this point there is nothing to salvage. Films like WW84, the false promises of Black Adam and The Flash have completely driven what remained of possibility into the ground and it’s best just to completely start over. For a long time I resisted that and when this shake up began last year I saw a potential way to carry over some of the old while introducing the new, but at this point I just don’t see a point.
This shows that WB/DC never learned their lesson, this is another case of, "your favorites are coming back...until they don't", it's Henry Cavill all over again.
No it’s not 🤦♀️
Not to pile on but I' kind of glad someone else has put it out there that Gal Gadot isn't an actor with all that much range. It seemed like she always got a pass and I thought maybe I was the one going mad because I just didn't see what everyone else seemed to.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. I didn’t think highly of her either.
I think Gadot is a good Wonder Woman, but there are big (non-sexism) reasons that some people don't like her as a person.

I’m glad someone said it I understand she’s a model a lot of people find her attractive but I haven’t seen her in anything where I thought she was particularly strong as an actress or anything but I kind of thought it was an odd casting from the beginning so I’m not super attached to it
Snyder is himself a clipmaker. Him hiring a model is kinda normal
I have faith in Gunn, but at the same time, the way they are handling everything makes me fear that he's going to be the scapegoat if things don't work out, even before Superman Legacy gets done. I have very low expectations for Joker 2 and any projects outside Superman Legacy.
He’s an executive now. It all falls on him and Safrin.
My expectations for Joker 2 are the same as Joker 1, knowing it's the same production team.
For me, it'll be the same when Battinson 2 rolls around.
Even if Gunn is now the "Kevin Feige" of DC, it'll be Todd Philips and Matt Reeves helming each of those projects. I wouldn't hold Gunn accountable for them.
I still remember my mom and I laughing at how bad WW84 was on Christmas day. It really did shoot all the good will from the first movie in the foot.
I think Gal knew she was out. She was just exposing Gunn as a liar
That was my first thought. An "If I'm gone, I'll make sure you look bad when it happens" kind of move. Don't know how effective it'll be, though
The thing with Kevin Feige and Marvel, is that unlike most executive, bring Marvel as a universe to the screen is likely a life long passion and goal. So given the choice, he likely kept doing it until he dies. It's like James Cameron with sci-fi visuals and water effects, Quentin Tarantino with stylized violence, Wes Anderson with being Wes Anderson. It's a passion that goes beyond being an executive. It wouldn't be wrong to say he became an executive just so he can do what he wants to do with Marvel.
😂😂😂😂
Have you seen the state of the MCU recently? Either Feige's stretched too thin, or he doesn't care as much about Marvel as you seem to think he does.
The state of the DCEU reminds me of that one scene in the Polar Express when the train is on the rapidly cracking ice, desperately course correcting back and forth while more and more of it goes underwater.
I don't for a second believe that she will be Wonder Woman once we get to it. Definitely will be recast.
Im so glad I'm a part of the "who cares, just make a good movie" crowd. Its kinda liberating 😊
Another great video as always!!
7:37 yup that fact makes me appreciate kevin feige alot man
I've said this before and I'll say it again: How is it 2023 and DC and Warner Bros. still don't have it together?!
If they're going to reboot the DCU, then yeah they have to give Gal Gadot the boot. It doesn't make sense to keep her around, but none of the other established actors. The real question though, is should they even bother? Other than the DC hardcore, will people actually turn out for these movies after all this? Time will tell.
Theres still good will for the Teen Titans and Static. The films haven't even cracked the surface of how deep the DC rabbithole goes and theres still plenty of characters/teams who haven't had their legacy destroyed. Hell, I know they wont go this route but considering the fact that some people think Batman is an Avenger, it would be easy to separate a character from the DC brand entirely. (basically allow the director to bring about their own unique interpretation of the character. Think smaller characters given "The Batman" treatment)
One of the most painful things is that, somewhere in the multiverse there is an unadulterated Snyderverse with a second JL movie by now
Good video, but could you make the music in the back a little louder I could barely hear it 🫄🏻
Gunn expects more from his actors then Gadot can provide, if she becomes Wonder women its because Gunn was forced too and I assume Gunn took the gig as he has full control to do what he wants. So it will be telling for the future if she stays Wonder women.
Man I miss the days when I could just go to a Batman or Spiderman movie and outside of a sequel or two, that was it for those movies
Welcome to the club.
The way Gadot so confident, I think somewhere in her heart she's very sure that only her is fit to play the role ... But sooner or later Wonder Woman will inevitably recast for new DCU... Hope it will not disappoint
What is nice jazz music playing in the background?
i love how gal gadot is so bad at acting the directors determined it was easier to have all the amazonians speak in israeli accents as opposed to gal speaking in a greek accent
You realize one can't just change many things of their accent? You try speaking another language and with an accent of another country.
If that was doable, every English second language speaker would have an american or British accent.
@@cancerino666 🤦♀️
@@cancerino666 i dont expect a normal person to be able to speak in different accents, but expecting that from a professional actor is not beyond the pale

I think Gal Gadot has a quality in that she looks like Wonder Woman, like the stills of her in costume IS Wonder Woman. They even made the comic version look like Gal. I personally think that Gals problem is that English isn’t her first language so she has an accent. Even during interviews one can tell she can struggle with the English language. I just fear that a new Wonder Woman casting won’t live up to what Gal looks like in the suit.
Meh. Not a whole lot. Wonder woman has more hips and muscle.
With all the recent box office bombs WBD has had in recent years, I wonder if the DCU is actually worth it.
Isn’t the whole point of the DCU that its new and not the studio execs that thought The Flash was a good idea?
General audiences are confused, fans are disappointed. "Were professionals, we swear!" 😂
Both Gal Gadot & Henry Cavill never stood out in anything else outside of the failed divisive DCEU. It's best if they just totally replace them for James Gunn's future DCU going forward.
I think Monica Barbaro could be an excellent choice for WW. She has the acting chops, is gorgeous and is a rising star
I like Monica Barbaro from Top Gun, but with the new Schwarznegger series and the romcom, idk i dont rlly see her acting chops yet. Then again i havent seen Chicago PD or whatever network show she did prior. She has the look of Diana Prince though for sure, and honestly she’d be a good fit for that Themyscira series
I liked Gal as wonder woman, but like you said she is very limited as an actress. All of her other movies are unwatchable and she plays the same character in them all. She is a very attractive person but thats about it.
I still find it hilarious how much better the animated DC content is (generally) and they need to at least bring in some of those writers tbfh

Time to give the DCEU the Rebirth treatment.
I don't know why this doesn't get talked about as much, but the Flash movie wasn't the big Flashpoint reboot we thought it was going to be. It was basically a soft reboot to allow Gunn to reshuffle the DCEU deck; keeping profitable characters like Aquaman, omitting/sidelining the ones that were unsuccessful like Shazam and rebooting ones where he wanted to do his own version, in the case of Superman. Its not so hard to imagine Gadot as Wonder Woman is the same vein as Momoa's Aquaman. If Gadot fits the vision of what he sees as WW, they could easily continue her story and shuffle/retcon the details of her origin to fit whatever they see fit.
Also pointing out Gadot's acting ability is a non-argument. No one ever said she was a great actress. She's in movies because like the Rock, she's a star.
Well I personally think what they're talking about with universe consistency through the different mediums is something like how Star Wars had done it, where the comics are canon, the TV shows are canon, the books are canon, the game's canon it's just a great thing I loves honestly, but even there, the sequels completely ignored a lot of the canon already established so maybe even that's not really a good example of it working with film, but the Ahsoka show, Rogue One, and even the Mandalorian are great examples of this working and being great for the average star wars nerd.
Great video man :]
I loved Shazam Fury of the gods way more than the first. I'm sad it's unlikely it's getting a 3rd movie. The flash I found okay and I'm really excited for Blue Bettle.
Definitely, I hate the fact that Shazam 2 got just about the same treatment as The Flash despite not relying on cameos and nostalgia to get butts in seats. Wish the series wasn't connected to all this other crap, but it seems like things can't seem to stand on their own anymore.

It takes little effort to not to lie to creatives and talent. DC has brought this upon themselves.Gunn and Saffron deserve plenty of blame along with everyone else who came before. The movies that tanked this year were really hurt by the announcements of the regime change during and before major releases, and Gunn’s inability to shut up on social media and put his foot in his mouth
And a lot of people don’t like admitting this, but the only reason why the dark Knight made $1 billion it was because of the death of heath ledger because Batman begins, didn’t even make 400 million globally although I prefer that movie over the dark night because concentrating so much on the joker is becoming redundant. At this point that’s why I don’t watch any of the animation. So much Batman and I don’t care if people say that he’s there cash cow that’s the reason why the movies are failing
@@Christian_Ada1 i love me some Batman, and if they make good Batman movies that don’t retread his origin, I’m there. But there’s been more than enough opportunity to develop non-Batman franchises and they’ve failed because DC won’t stick to a single vision, nor lead. Instead they follow. DC should have been the first to release a major film involving legacy characters (Titans?) or the multiverse. But they’re so maddeningly reactive
@@Christian_Ada1What? It made a billion because it was a phenomenal movie with an iconic character played excellently by Ledger, not because of his death. Batman begins made less because 1. It didn’t feature as iconic of a villain and 2. It wasn’t as good as TDK

ayo, background music goes hard af.
She is the only actor at this level who has completely taken me out of the story during every. single. performance. I don't want to shit on someone's passion and hard work, but how tf does she keep getting jobs?_?
I'm hoping Blue Beetle does well.
As for Shazam and Flash, they did better than I expected. I thought they were going to do worse.
I say reboot everything. Including wonderwoman and batman.
doubt it when the directors of blue beetle don't know when to shut up.
@@damonlam9145 Oh god, MORE drama? What happened?
@cyatram The only thing i found is that he's puerto rican and thinks that mexicans and Southwest are all the same along with the Southwest and having the grandma say batman is a fascist.

Could you make a video about Desmond from lost?
Very random request, but I’m into it!
@@captainmidnight Noice! I really loved his story
Even if GG was straight up lying to curry favor & momentum from fans she would have nothing to lose by doing so. People know she cannot act and is little more than an aging, pretty face. Without WW, she doesn't have much of a theatrical career. So worse case scenario, DC sticks to their gunns and continue to not use her. But if they caved for whatever reason then she scores millions.
As long as they don't let Patty Jenkins direct, I think it will be good
Jenkins did a great job directing the first one. The problem was that they let her write the second one.
Gunn could just debunk this WW thing or acknowledge it since he does pretty much any other news. But the fact that he stays quiet on this one is pretty telling. All of the sudden, not very transparent.
there are 3 actors who breathed life into comic superheros: 1) snipes in Blade 2) bale in batman rises 3) Jackson in Wolverine/Logan etc
some actors can just embody the hero.. some can squeeze by, but i dunno what she brings
I guess the big problem is not if she keeps being Wonder Woman or not, but rather that James Gunn is picking and choosing who stays from the previous universe. I get that that is his job, but I believe the most sensible thing to do would be to do a full reboot. Wipe clean the slate for storytelling purposes even if it means losing talented actors such as Oscar winner Viola Davis. The only way to distance from the previous universe (whether people like it or not) is to start fresh. A lot of the excruciating anger from different fans stems from the notion that Gunn will keep his friends or family that inhabited a universe he wants to distance from.
I’ve been thinking about Brave and the Bold. My thought is that they should do Battle for the Crowl. And have Dick Grayson take up the mantle of Batman. Since I think Damien is supposedly the Robin, I think Dick has a better dynamic and it would differentiate the two Batman movies
It’s not even a mess. Just actors talking while misinformed
I like gal as wonder woman but they need to completely start fresh
They've already decided to not completely start fresh, though, Gunn is carrying over some of his favourite actors.
@@ColonelGreenthen they arent starting fresh if they still have the same actors from the old regime.
DC animation has been able to create cohesive interconnected universes for decades now. Even when they've had extremely limited resources and time, they've been able to do well. Like how the straight to DVD animated films each have about the budget of one and a half episode of Family Guy and the same team work on an expedited schedule where they have to make 2 - 3 of them per year. But they've still been able to make a lot of solid movies.
Maybe WB should give their animation department some respect and try to learn from them. Get some of those people in consulting and planning roles.
I'd be interested in your take on Gunn's strategy to cast 5 other superheroes in the first solo Superman movie in a decade.
I distinctly remember pundits giving Marvel crap for casting other heroes in the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies and suggesting that Marvel's take on the character wasn't strong enough, which is why they cast Iron Man, Nick Fury and Dr. Strange in all three of his movies. Enter James Gunn who's rebooting Superman yet again but instead of focusing on the movie on him we'll have Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho and Plastic Man to learn about and connect with. And that's to say nothing of the villain who's yet to be cast, though that announcement is likely a result of the current writer and actor strike. Still, along with 6 superheroes and a super-powered villain we'll also have secondary characters like Lois and Lane and since the movie is said to take place at the Daily Planet that means we'll likely also meet Perry White and Jimmy Olsen. We might also get a flashback of Jor El, John Kent and my guess is Martha Kent will make an appearance.
I'm sorry but that's just too many characters to connect with, identity with and potentially relate to. I get that Gunn is trying to create a rich and robust universe for Superman to exist in but this just feels like way too much for a movie and characters we've never seen before. I can't help but feel that Gunn is recreating the same issues that plagued the DCEU from the start. Too much, too fast.
6:05 I bet that she'll play a live-action version as The Evil Queen in the remake "Snow White" and yup, that would've made her better whether Rachel Zegler played a mix Colombiana Snow White and returning back again Fast & Furious franchise after her death in 6th movie and now ressurected again Fast X? Why?
Bad acting is kinda a staple for the Snyderverse to me. It’s why i really think they should start completely fresh for this new universe. I’m not gonna miss any of the performances of the past version of these heroes
Id love to see a video like this on Disney and Marvel
They're not in any real messes, certain members of their audience are just angry it's nit a "White Male Savior" setting anymore
Marvel is nowhere near the level of public, messy disaster DC is having.

Why do people call her "Gadoe"? The name is Gadot. There's a T in the end. It's not like T at the end of a word is extraordinary, Captain Midnigh.
I think the approach they are taking, making works that are more thematically connected rather than necessarily by plot, makes more sense. It'll be more like an anthology and from an artistic perspective I find this a lot more interesting and a great way to set themselves apart from Marvel Studios.
The thing about the MCU is, it is made by a Studio That is exclusively making Marvel movies. All their time and resources are bend on it. And they tend to compromise the artistic vision of the individual directors in favor of Kevin Feige's vision who serves basically as the showrunner of a massive megaseries.
Back to topic, while maybe recasting Wonder Woman maybe inevitable now, I think it could be interesting to recast Gal Gadot as for instance Queen Hippolytha. She has a very stately air about her as an actress so that could work, if she is directed well. They could even make her the first Wonder Woman and bring in the JSA as backstory if they want.
I’m still confused by the online Gal Gadot backlash. I get WW84 was disappointing and Gadot’s acting range is limited, but her Wonder Woman performance has always been a DC highlight. Are we just in the “hate for the sake of hating” moment again?
She was part of that cringey and out of touch Imagine cover from celebrities when the pandemic started. That lost her good will along with the bad WW84 movie.
@@NTNG13 Dude, I agree the video is cringe. But if people are still holding that against Gadot years later, you need better hobbies.
Disappointing is an understatement for 84, it straight up made WW a rapist what with the fucking some guy possessed by Chris Pine without the owner of the body’s consent. Not to mention the other shit.
@@benwasserman8223 i mean its that and the bad acting and the support for israel's colonization of palestine. Definitely enough and diverse ressons for people to dislike her
Highlight? Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is a highlight. Gal Gadot's WW was never good.
When she was first announced as Wonder Woman back during the filming of "Batman v Superman" my first thought was "she's too skinny!" But she's proved me wrong and in the course of the films she's been in, she's OWNED that character. Replacing her would be a tragic mistake.
I have no problem with them keeping her, but your first reaction is STILL correct. She is too skinny as Wonder Woman and her fighting choreography needs work, fighting style is not believable, too telegraphed. So of that I place on the director. However, Gal OWNED the role of Diana Prince. She was awesome when not dressed as Wonder Woman.
I enjoyed Wonder Woman 2. Yes it was a bad movie but I was still happy to see Gal in action. It entertained me. The first section with the Amazon trial was decent enough.
Shazam idk how else to sell it other than people just dropped in when they were curious, and Flash has had a bunch of bad PR and word of mouth after seeing it, idk if it's worth keeping Ezra on for it when he's become the reverse Flash irl. Black Adam was going to be a smaller project but besides the Rock taking over another movie idk what people expected to see.
I had fun with WonderWoman 84 but she seems to just be in for cameos, even if people could be sold on a third movie with more focus. She's a good actress and I don't mind her in any role, but when they're already jumbling the actors so of course they'll replace her. Chalk it up to bad direction or playing it her own way but I'm not the most critical of how actors behave in already struggling movies.
DC is in a very strange state where they've rushed through their universe from Superman Man of Steel, Death of Superman, Justice League with Superman, and now Flash Point resets all that. I also just want them to make good movies but they're giving up on ideas before they've really developed them then crashing on intermediate projects. Aquaman wasn't the worst thing ever but Justice League had a bunch of troubled development, so they're still playing catch up while Marvel is slowly working towards it's next phase after a lackluster phase.
I think Gadot is just a mediocre actress who just happens to look amazing in WW costume. I'd rather Gunn recast the role because she carries the Snyderverse baggage and would condemn the WW sequel from the get-go.
Yes
That tone changed QUICK for Red Notice lol.
Dude, good content, as always, but the background music on this one? What the hell? I literally had to turn it off after seven minutes and couldn’t finish it.
They should recast. Having her carry over to a new universe is just confusing and she is not a great actor regardless
They NEED to start fresh. They're confusing general audiences by keeping some stuff and getting rid of others
She probably lied trying to corner DC into keeping her by telling the public they can rest assured she will not only be back for 3rd movie but would be involved with story
One amazing trivia that everyone forgets is that Suicide Squad (the first one) and Wonder Woman (the first one also) were pretty much as commercially successful: similar budgets, similar box office.
Based on how they were perceived you would think SS1 was the biggest bomb before Indy 5 and WW1 was the second biggest box office success behind Avatar 2. But no, they were both "moderately successful".
Which in the case of WW1 was enough to craft a narrative that is was a cultural phenomenon and the first time a female-lead movie ever succeeded (until Captain Marvel).
