A friend recently introduced me to the concept of partnership Hearts and I immediately thought it would be an interesting variant on Rebel Princess! I also immediately thought of that groundbreaking intro so had to rewatch. Lol
Thanks for the review! Rebel Princess will be printed here in Brazil on December and our "trick-taking guild" here is very happy with that. Also this year in Brazil between trick-taking games, climbing/shedding games and other "card-ish" games that we can relate to the feeling of traditional card games, we had almost 15 releases, which is much more than any year. Our market is still not so big as most countries that have board and card games as a family tradition, but we are trying to have a place on the sun. You should check Stonks and Dobro, two of the latest trick-taking/climbing games from Brazil. I don't know if PGC still have copies of it, but they imported our versions of Papayoo, Trick of the Rails and with that, some copies of Stonks and Dobro. Stonks is a trick-taking game with stock market and Dobro is a climbing game that don't focus on shedding, but on not taking the result of climbing (if you need to pass, you take it, and taking cards is not good).

I actually just got a copy of Stonks recently from Portland Game Collective! I can't wait to play it. I have been looking at Rebel Princess for a while and have been thinking of getting it.
That opening sequence was EPIC. Taylor en Español - that microphone - the newscaster fish - I sat watching with a huge stupid smile on my face.

Sounds like they missed out on a good chance to make the "suits" be the "suitors". But this is cool too!
It's also a good way to reduce the chaos by having only one-time-use powers that are known from the start. The scenario rules are a bit wacky though!

Taylor! Just saw previews for Rebel Princess Deluxe being released by Bezier Games. It looks like they have tweaked a few rules and added two new princesses, Rapunzel and Thumbelina, upgrading some of the cards and adding a shoot the moon aspect to the game. Have you got to check this out yet? I already have the regular version and I am curious if the deluxe version is something to add to the collection and replace the regular version.
Hey Hecatesson! Great comment! And sadly I've yet to play, but hopefully I can soon! I'd love to see their spin on revamping some cards that i didn't care for, and adding in the shoot the moon always. So it seems on the surface a great edition!!
This game remind me a lot of Tournament at Camelot/Avalon. Have you try it? Tournament at Camelot/Avalon is a family favorite around Christmas time.
Ah yesss, i totally get that comparison! I think it's slightly more controlled and definitely less 'catch-up' focused, but they are definitely similar games

the wedding gift, we weren't sure if the cards go in hand or go in their score pile regarding the section on confusion with the cards.

Oh i think it's totally score, as it'd be confusing in hands with the 'play half tricks' part of the rules.
But yeah i think it'd work how shooting the moon would, i imagine. Others get the points
if the cards did go in hand, wouldn't it still he half the tricks? maybe i am missing something and not thinking it through fully
Yeah because the round ends when cards are out, so at 3 or 4 or whatever players, if you balance taking tricks, you would play longer than half of the tricks

Hey Danah, great point! I think that would be fun to add for sure. I don't think we ever got there because it was already so wacky (and probably a reason they might not have added it) but i do definitely wanna try adding that once we get a reign of the game
