Hi! Thank you for a great review! Really appreciated! Please note; your comment on a previous product called ECM1-MK2, refers probably to the EMC1-UP CD Player, sometimes referred to as the EMC1-MK2. We have never had a product called the. ECM1-MK2.
Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering why when I looked up the model I saw a few forum posts about the same name but they were from 2004 so certainly not the same product as stated
The ECM1MKII ist a Masterpiece. I also have a EC4.8MKII and two AW180. They sound very musical and detailed. Greetz from a speaker developer from Switzerland.
Thanks so much for the hard work in presenting this device. I was looking for it and should shortly give it a go,) A bit sad the preamp is not up to tje dac quality, would have made this device a killer. To be noted, electrocompaniet is not advertising about the preamp, but about the dac and streamer, and this is what this device should be bought for anyway.😊
Thank you for the amazing review! Have you heard Weiss DACs by chance? Also, how is the streamer? Any lag in software? Thank you, I’m really considering
The software for this is one of the best Ive experienced. Really simple and clean, very little between you and the music. Unfortunately have not had proper time with a Weiss
Has anyone ever come across the problem of the remote control having the mute & volume up & down not working. Or, the digital inputs not finding a signal. Or the units first use, having the volume at 100 fresh out of the box ?
what's not to like ?!. great unit to say the least. all in ONE. saves a lot of money on separate units and interconnect cables. however. since the Digital technology is fast changing . i'm wondering if it can be updated by changing the DAC and Streamer Cards ??!!!. (some of the McIntosh and Accuphase Amps have this feature) , this way you don't have to buy a New amp every year !. thank you for the great video.
Does any one know if this unit has an outomated tone compensation when the volume is adjusted? Like some preamps do to compensate for hearing losses of bass and treble as the volume is turned down !
@HiFiTurtle Great review! Thx a lot! I also have fantastic cd player EMC 1 UP and was looking for a streamer. If I already have a preamplifier, how can I bypass the volume control?! Didn't find that function at app that you've showed.
If its on the same network as your PC it will show up as a network storage device in windows explorer. From there you can just drag and drop your music folders

How is the stream app UI in terms of functionality and ease of use ?

Good review
Thank you!
Question please : Do i need a preamp between the ECM1 and my power amp ? Or can we speak about a preamp-dac-streamer ?
It has digital volume control which can be controlled with the app, remote, or your phone volume rocker if using spotify/tidal/qobuz connect

Can you tell me the instructions for transferring files to an SSD that can be installed on this device?
If its on the same network as your PC it will show up as a network storage device in windows explorer. From there you can just drag and drop your music folders
The SSD I used in this video: amzn.to/3Mt1QIx (affiliate)
Electrocompaniet and Hegel are amazing companies! However, as a Norwegian hifi man, i still think that their brilliant hifi gear is overprized!
I'm gonna be that guy. It's pronounced Electro-"company" if anyone cares.
Roon ready???
Yes
Electrocompaniet is trully a Norwegian gem and TRUE norwegian.. Made and designed here.. Not like Hegel that is Chi-fi :)
Absolutely! The factory outside Stavanger, Norway is really impressive. Electrocompaniet is the real deal. 👍🏻😊
So overpriced then?
@@jctai100 not compared to Hegel.. 😂😂
I like my equipment to have some child labor final touches.
@@cd-rom. so you like Hegel?
Mark II
Nordic version of Emotiva, looks a lot tackier though.
I don't know how to take this 😂
@@HiFiTurtle 😂
Quick typo…bargain
All relative
@@HiFiTurtle it’s bargain, not bargin ?
I see. I thought it was a sarcastic response since it's an expensive piece
@@HiFiTurtle I like expensive Hi-Fi …. any sarcasm would have been much better 😀
