Awesome recipe! Made this for New Years and everybody loved it. We added some crumbled speculaas on top for a bit of crunchiness and some blueberries as well. Big thanks to Steve and the team!
I don't have a sweet tooth but dark chocolate once in a blue moon, absolutely. Made this yesterday, had a bite, distributed it to my AA people and the people in my apartment building; disappeared in a flash, tx for everything you guys, Merry Xmas!
This is by far the best vegan chocolate cake I've tasted and made thanks to your video! Been making it for almost a year now and it's always a hit! So decadent, it has become a celebration cake in our home :)
Thanks Steven! I'll make this for New Year Eve dinner, adding Cherries! Especially helpful the written recipe. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY!!!
I'm so glad to hear you visited Lisboa. Portugal is where I was born and I love Portuguese cooking. This cake looks delicious I would love more recipes from your travels there.
Great recipieeee!!! I made it last night and it wass soo good! The recipie was so well explain in the video which made it was so easy to follow!! Thanks 🥰
Your happy dance made me smile. I always learn something, the flax egg as emulsifier very well explained, you’re the best! Oh my gosh I can’t wait to make it. Must be GF. What’s your favourite GF blend fir baking? Merry Christmas
UPDATE: I made the cake and everyone liked it :) vegans and nonvegans. One nonvegan friend said, it tasted like the McDonalds chocolate cake here in Germany so I‘ll take it as a compliment ;) next time I would definitely not take a super dark chocolate for the mousse, as it was a little too rich and bitter.
Beautiful! Just wondering though what you meant at 1:55 when you said egg is a natural emulsifier? I feel that it's commonly and traditionally used for that purpose; I just don't see it being very natural to use the egg of another animal in any food.
Again mentioning Portugal? 😮 Damn! I'd love to have met you and show you some spots... but I'm glad you already spot some 😉. THAT "incredible chocolate cake" is really in-cre-di-ble, right Steve? 😉👌 Hope that you've visited a small Chocolate Shop at Príncipe Real, too! 😊 I'm sure you'd also love that. PS: oh and Thank YOU for saving me with this creation of yours. I'm sure it will be delicious... and it will save me some trips to Lisbon to have that cake 😂
I'm a vegan and extremely appreciative of your recipes. If I have an allergy to flax seed, which ingredients can I substitute? Do you have a vegan and gluten free brownie receipe?
Could I use stevia with the aquafaba instead of castor super, or could I use monk fruit, as I don’t think it would be good for my health to eat sugar?.
@@thehappypear It looked like you may not have whipped the aquafaba long enough. It should be more like whipped cream consistency should it not? When I've made it I've also cooked the liquid down first which gels in the fridge, then whipped the cooled liquid. More work but better texture.
My experience in Spain re-defined how I think of pesto; it's a thickener for brilliant soups eg. Should be Spanish cookbooks out there, loved your comment!
This looks awesome! Can't wait to try and make it. But you shouldn't eat raw batter even if it's eggless! It's actually the flour that causes most salmonella cases, not the eggs. If you want to eat batter raw, you should bake the flour a bit before you use it. Just want to make sure y'all stay safe!
My cake doesn't look like that at all :( The mousse on top has gotten really hard and dark while the whipped aquafaba was very fluffy. Are you sure you added 250g of melted dark chocolate? I used 85% chocolate btw
All those comments about oil. So much better than animal fats. Just checked that a dairy chocolate cake used 7 ounces of butter. That equates to 200ml of liquid cholesterol. Hmm. I'll go with the sunflower oil thanks.
I’m definitely giving this a go later. Will probably add some cocoa nibs to decorate... Thank you so much for all your videos. You two are amazing! I’ll post a photo on my instagram later to see how it turns out (@auntielouskitchen) 😋🙌🏻👩🏼🍳🍰
Those oils are all bad for you. You need an oil that is more balanced with Omega 3 as well as Omega 6. I will recommend that for your health you use Camelina oil, which is a perfect balance, and can also be used with high heat. Please read about the human need for more Omega3 in our diet.

Made this cake for my relatives and everyone really liked it. It will be my go-to cake from now on! Thanks so much!
Looks absolutely amazing. Loved the little happy dance at the end.
Thanks a mill it was so worth a dance 👍🏼😄💚😂

I’m a vegetarian but I love cooking vegan food thanks for the recipe 💕

I made this for Christmas and everybody loved it, it was soooo tasty! Thanks for the recipe! :)))
Love this one! Gotta try!
Sounds so delicious. Normally when I make things like that they don't come out very well, but I'm so tempted to give this a try. Thanks X
Thank you for the interesting tips about baking powder vs baking soda! Great video, that cake looks delish! Merry Christmas 😊🎄😋
Woooow, i think this will be my New Years cake.😍 people wouldn’t think that’s vegan probably 😄

does the mousse taste kind of like a frosting or is it very foamy?
Will need to try this...looks awesome! Well done👍🏼

I just made your Black Forest Gateaux for Christmas, amazing! I think this is next. 👍🏼
Amazing! Will definitely make 👍🏻
Super stuff enjoy thanks
Hard core people eat cake off the knife... LOL Love it!
question? I have to avoid oil. would I be able to make this with an alternative such as applesauce or banana? what do you think? thank you
Beautiful! Just wondering though what you meant at 1:55 when you said egg is a natural emulsifier? I feel that it's commonly and traditionally used for that purpose; I just don't see it being very natural to use the egg of another animal in any food.
Totally agree 👍🏼😄
It comes from nature, from chickens? Also it's an extremely common use for eggs, to emulsify things

Wow this looks so delicious! Quick question, does the chickpea water need to be salt free? Thanks!

Thanks it’s fab 👍🏼😄
I was wondering if that mousse looked a bit runny :D Did it set at the end? :D Merry Christmas BTW.
It’s set perfectly genuinely so perfect and cuts and serves like a dream 👍🏼😄

I'm thinking I could replace the flax with chia seeds.. as I have them on hand and they behave in a similar way with liquid. Any thoughts?
Yum
It really is something special, I hope loads of people make it.
Is there an alternative to aquaphabia? Perhaps vegan whipped cream? Does that work?
Looks amazing! What can I use instead of oil? Nut butter??
can you use buckwheat flour
vegan + chocolate = 😋
Next time you guys come to Lisbon, let me know and I'll cook a WFPB meal for you :) You can find me on your Happy Heart email list!
Super stuff thanks Nick will do 👍🏼😄

Hi guys, would you fix the recipe link please?
Can you use a chia egg instead of a flax egg?
Yum!
Can we double this recipe?
Would a food processor with the dough attachment work for the meringue or is that too fast?
omgggggg that looks fkg amazing!
Thanks a mill 👍🏼😄🙌🏼
Christmas delight,., tnx lad(s)

My kids and my grandkids always eat raw batter and nothing has ever happened to them
salmonella is found in animal products

Suggestions on how to make it oil-free?
I'd try applesauce
And people still eating cake with dairy smh.
Give this one a go if you can it’s so tasty!
Don't lecture people - it works against you

Some people are thinking that Aquafaba is unhealthy, what are you thinking about that? I have to read about it but just want to ask :)
Thanks well worth trying it’s a pretty useful and amazing tool to have to aerate a cake or batter 👍🏼😄
Drool....drool....a puddle of drool at my work desk
Ha ha happy Christmas 👍🏼😄💚
It looks lovely and I am sure it tastes Assam I will try the cake how long can you keep the cake in the fridge
It should last 5 days in the fridge - enjoy it’s delicious 👍🏼😄
I'm sure this tastes really awesome, but I wanted to choke with all that oil. Is there any sub for all that oil?
Use apple sauce and then leave it out of the choc mousse
@@thehappypear equivalent measurements of apple sauce? Making thsi today (with oil). WOuld be nice to do a healthier version too at a later date.
should have salt for better taste
His wife is so lucky
I just made this recipe and the mousse came out like water. Not mousse-i at all. I will leave it in the fridge for two hours. Perhaps it'll be edible.
Are these guys twins??
NO the BEST vegan chocolate cake are the one's my friend makes with cannabis in LOL
I ate TEN of them and I was stoned for 15 Hours solid
The raw flour can still cause sickness even if you do not use egg

White flour is not healthy. Neither is oil. Thought this was supposed to be a healthy channel. Bye bye.
This is treat of course. You don't eat cake every single day do you ?
@@janellefrickert6522 Of course not. And I no longer eat unhealthy "treats" either.
