I made this cake couple of days ago for a friend's birthday and it might have just been the best one I have EVER eaten! Hands down, so good :) Thank you for the recipe. I halved it and adjusted it a little since I didn't have all the right ingredients and measurements on hand. I used half apple sauce and half coconut oil and instead of maple syrup used some date syrup (a little less) and probably added a splash more of rice milk. Just putting it out there if anyone wants to make the same adjustment. It was super delicious. Also added a drizzle of lemon juice into the cream mixture.
Hi , love how you adjusted the recipe. I have Algarve syrup , hoping to save money & put half maple syrup & Algarve syrup. I like the fact there's a lot of coconut oil as I've heard it's good for brain fog because of the fats in it.💖💜🌹
You prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the login password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Kelvin Kelvin thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I made this for my husband's birthday this year and all I can say is WOW!! I halved the recipe, as only the two us us would be eating it, used two 7inch tins & baked them for 35-40 mins (my oven runs a bit hot as well). Turned out amazing and easily still could have served 6-8 people! He took the leftovers to work and all of his collogues were amazed that it was vegan. Thanks guys for an amazing recipe that will be my go-to for celebrations from now on! x
Looks amazing! This is definitely going to be Christmas dessert. Tip: If you only want the cream of the coconut, open the chilled can from the bottom, drain out the liquid, and you'll only have pure coconut cream at the "bottom" without having to delicately scoop at it trying to keep it all separate. :)
Fellas!!! I halved the recipe, turned it into cupcake form and sent them to work with my husband as a Chrissy treat for the boys. I wasn't sure how they would go as everyone on his crew is a carnivore and sceptical of our vegan food but.... They bloody loved them!! Shout out from the Flanagan Family (Rory, Toni, Andi and Jordi) in Western Australia 😊 And Merry Christmas!!
Making this right now for my Mom’s birthday! Looking forward to tasting it. The batter was delicious as you said. Thanks for the recipe. It is the first cake I’ve ever made! :)
Just made this last night (just changed the filling to peanut butter frosting) and it was AMAZING!! Best thing I've made, so luxurious! A little tip for anyone making this, though, is to serve at room temperature, so it's smoothe and delicious, because serving cold will make the coconut oil way too hard and dense. Thanks for the recipe, guys!
I couldn't resist, went out to get the ingredients, trying to source maple syrup in bulk next time ;) cake is in the oven now, will change the frosting a bit, and make it with cacao powder & maple syrup....hmmmm can't wait when it's ready, kitchen smells divine. Thank you guys!!!
Obviously with the surname Currin which started out as O' Currin my ancestors are from your beautiful country you wonderful , beautiful examples of Ireland's finest. Pete from the equally beautiful Western Cape South Africa here. Love you guys and your zest for life. It's so inspiring ...and with all you've both been blessed with I imagine the daily chore will be to stay humble. Big big love and Christmas festive season greetings to you and yours. Go Ireland!!!!!
This cake is amazing 😋 I made it yesterday for my sons first birthday it went down a storm thank u both 🙏 I also made your celeriac lasagne omg love it! Thank you so much for all your videos you make vegan cooking easy and take the fear out of it. 💗💗
Wow! Made this cake, and the whole family loooved it. *I used Golden Syrup because there was no maple available and it tasted great too, for those who may be in the same situation ;)
Hi Happy pear, 💚 🌿💚 I finally made this it tastes Amazing, I had a few problems as I'm gluten free so it was more crumbly and very fragile being that there was no gluten but I managed to get it together and it looked good !! I made a chocolate Gnash with 250 ml of soya cream & 200 grams choclate added tablespoon coconut oil for shiny smooth finish. Thanks great recipe.🍀🌿🍀
Made this cake last Saturday, for my vegan friend! She loved it,and all others non vegans loved it too.And all asked for recipe. :) Agree about room temperature,it went in fridge for night, and was very hard. But no mater,it was really tasty. Thanks for it!
I always enjoy watching your videos guys! Not only for the great and delicious recipes, but also because you are always sooo excited and happy! You truly are a "happy pear😊👍🏼"
I always thought that for baking powder to start rising, it needs something acidic. So add some lemon juice or something.. Cake looks absolutely delicious!!
hi guys looks epic and bad ass as you say but also if I'm not wrong damn expensive. surely the amount of coconut oil and Maple syrup alone is nearly €/£ 20. how about coming up with a cheaper version for us mere mortals. Peace n love p.
Use this: Regular flour instead of almond flour Vegetable oil instead of coconut oil Agave nectar or just plain sugar instead of maple syrup Leave out vanilla extract (wont taste significantly like it anyway) Voilá, we just quartered your costs for the cake.
by the way, I'm in Australia, I have told my friends all about you guys, one of them owns a cafe, and she will be using some of your ideas in there for us all to enjoy. thankyou. xxx
hahahaha you guys had chocolate everywhere! Thank you so much for such a realistic and cute chocolate cake tutorial! Maybe if you would whip the frosting coming from the fridge it would be easier to spread and fluffier? Love your videos!
Hi. Loved the recipe and simple video. Do you think i can change the almond flour for oatmeal flour?? Is just that where I live, almonds are very expansive.
Hi, my local healthfood store sells coconut whipping cream. Would it be ok to use this instead of the coconut milk fat? i.e would it affect the taste greatly? I'm also presuming it wouldn't need the added vanilla extract and syrup.
Been looking for a vegan recipe for a Birthday Cake that's not full of sugar. I like the fact it's got maple syrup rather than sugar & not lots of icing sugar like most vegan or non vegan birthday cakes!! 💜🌹💜
Oh my GOSH! SCRUMMINESS :-) that cake looked absolutely INCREDIBLE , I would end up eating the whole cake haha! thanks a million for sharing Dave and Steve and sending you guys tons of love and heaps of happiness and plant power from Waterford to Greystones for a brilliant evening XXXXX
hey! I made this cake for my boyfriend´s birthday. We both nearly died after one piece haha. it is so incredibly rich and tastes like pure chocolate. for people who do watch their line: dont eat the frosting- I am extremely against wasting food, but in this case it might save your life. the frosting makes you stop craving any chocolate desserts for months, if not years haha. all in all- a very delicious cake, but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much coconut oil and maple s.!!! there has to be a lighter version of that!
I love how the guy on the left is so into licking the bowl he just forgets he's on camera and carries on 😂 but I don't blame him that cake looks incredible 😍 first video of yours I've seen and I'm subscribing!

Frosting

Words cannot express how hungry this video made me. Thanks for promoting veganism guys!

You prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account?

I love how they ended up with chocolate on their shirts 😜
you just want to take their shirt off. haha. just joking.
I hate how the one on the left always puts his fingers in the food then licks and continues. So unhygienic smh

hi guys looks epic and bad ass as you say but also if I'm not wrong damn expensive. surely the amount of coconut oil and Maple syrup alone is nearly €/£ 20. how about coming up with a cheaper version for us mere mortals. Peace n love p.
a cake that unhealthy, you should not too often anyway, so the one or two times a year you do make it. Splurge.
Vegan butter and agave nectar would probs work
stefanos2691 if the ingredients cost €20 then €60? Who on earth would pay that. In early choked when they said 500ml of maple syrup.
Use this:
Regular flour instead of almond flour
Vegetable oil instead of coconut oil
Agave nectar or just plain sugar instead of maple syrup
Leave out vanilla extract (wont taste significantly like it anyway)
Voilá, we just quartered your costs for the cake.
mathies187 you can also use golden syrup
Can I use almond flour for all ? ty
and really looove your videos.
Hey Guys, epic massive cake! Thx for the great video. How long does it last in the fridge and can you freeze it? Cheers
by the way, I'm in Australia, I have told my friends all about you guys, one of them owns a cafe, and she will be using some of your ideas in there for us all to enjoy. thankyou. xxx

Looks beautiful I wonder how coconutty it tastes
hahahaha you guys had chocolate everywhere! Thank you so much for such a realistic and cute chocolate cake tutorial! Maybe if you would whip the frosting coming from the fridge it would be easier to spread and fluffier? Love your videos!

Hi, could you mix syrups like half Algarve & maple?💜
this looks awesome!
Wooo it IS awesome!! 👍👍😀
I’m definitely making this cake 😍👌💕
Hi. Loved the recipe and simple video. Do you think i can change the almond flour for oatmeal flour?? Is just that where I live, almonds are very expansive.
The chocolate frosting can be done with Coconut Oil, Cocoa Powder, pinch of salt and Maple Syrup... Nothing else and it is lovely.
Great idea Richard! We'll def try that next time! 😄😄
What gluten-free flour can be substituted for the spelt flour?
Hey guys, I think my springforms are a bit smaller, will that make a big difference?? Thanks for the awesome recipes as always, Merry Christmas!
Hi, my local healthfood store sells coconut whipping cream. Would it be ok to use this instead of the coconut milk fat? i.e would it affect the taste greatly? I'm also presuming it wouldn't need the added vanilla extract and syrup.
I need to make this!
Cake looks amazing, can't wait to bake 😋 But, I have a question, would it work just the same if I use only regular flour? Thanks 😊
Has anyone tried this does it taste nice need to know as making for a birthday cake
Promise it's UNREAL!!! 😄👍🙌💚
Hey guys, does any of your books include this recipe?
Thanks & Merry Christmas! ☺
Been looking for a vegan recipe for a Birthday Cake that's not full of sugar. I like the fact it's got maple syrup rather than sugar & not lots of icing sugar like most vegan or non vegan birthday cakes!! 💜🌹💜
What can you substitute for all the coconut oil?? Apple sauce maybe? A bit of olive oil?
Not crazy about all the saturated fat of coconut oil.
Thanks for the shoutout. The kids loved it after watching this morning with me, their Dad (so you know I am a bloke)
id love to try this for my birthday!! Im from California!
Wooo Katia!!!! Let us know how it goes!!
hello I live in the Caribbean. coconut oil remains liquid. will the frosting melt as well
Yep. Just found my next birthday cake.
I noticed the recipe on your website does not include the spelt flour. Did you change the recipe or is that a mistake? Recipe looks amazing! Thanks!
Amazing cake!! yummm yummy!! I love you guys
Oh my GOSH! SCRUMMINESS :-) that cake looked absolutely INCREDIBLE , I would end up eating the whole cake haha! thanks a million for sharing Dave and Steve and sending you guys tons of love and heaps of happiness and plant power from Waterford to Greystones for a brilliant evening XXXXX
mouthwatering
can I ask if the frosting will melt if I don't eat the cake right away or wanna bring it to a party since it's made of coconut oil ? :)
very decadent. love that accent and seeing you two working together. hello from Aus
hey! I made this cake for my boyfriend´s birthday. Looks incredible!!! Is the time & temp for a convection (fan) oven? Thanks!
Sure is! 👍👍
