I REALLY enjoy the series' (multiple day tutorials) the progressions make me feel a sense of accomplishment, and that is very encouraging! Keep Smilin' : )
Finger picking seems so easy. Can you do some videos on how to apply this to songs. Then I could probably really take off with it. This is different than tabs and strumming.
Just now working my way through this series. Thanks for recording! I was wondering why only two fingers for this pattern? Why not use thumb, index, middle and ring?
I am very pleased I found the "All For Uke" five day finger picking series. I practice my Ukulele everyday and this five day tutorial made my practices even more enjoyable. John Helgeson, Honaunau, HI
What an absolutely lovely tutorial! I've been playing the uke for 1.5 months now and ran into this tutorial only last week. While I was primarily focussing on strumming, this opens up so many things with finger picking. Every little detail becomes visible and important. Glad I'm doing this tutorial. Only wish it was longer than 5 days alone!
Kevin, thanks a lot for these finger picking lessons. I had my ukelele since January, but I got to a point that I wasn’t getting more progress. These lessons has help,me to play in a different way that I can enjoy this wonderful instrument. Thanks from Puerto Rico. Jesus Santiago
Could you please do a tutorial on tremolo..not the mandolin tremolo on two strings but the guitar style tremolo with the finger-picking of a succession of notes in fast picking style.
Another fab class Kevin, thank you. Love the blues idea. The last lesson was tricky, this one much easier, but I love the patterns they sound so much more interesting than just strumming. Having said that, strumming is pure joy and fun 😂
Hey Linden - strumming and fingerpicking are both very useful tools to have in your arsenal. As you progress and continue to learn songs, you’ll find yourself with many options to approach the songs with. Keep me updated on your progress and thanks for learning with me ~Kevin
I found a great uke tutor thanks a lot it would be helpful for my uke journey for i was just a beginner, but this series sounds a little bit easy😁 and very clear. Can't wait for a strumming course after i finish this series🙂 God bless and more blessings to come to your channel😇🙂
Kevin this series has been fun and really rewarding for me, thanks. Keep up the awesome work! Also I like the color change up it really brightened the room.
Haha, I always have a frown face when I am concentrating and learning new stuff. And then this guy makes me smile with these nice comments in between! 🤩
yay! im so happy im on my fourth day and its my 2nd day of learning ukelele thankyou so much for sharing this awesome tips of yours I've search for alots of how to play a ukelele but yours is better and clearer thankyou so much
Question. Why for this pattern do you play it T-I-T-I instead of T-I-T-M. I've been trying to to train myself to use my middle finger on the A string, so I'm curious why for this pattern its preferred to use the index finger. Great series. You are a really great teacher. Thank you for sharing your craft.
Love what I am learning from your tutorials... would it be possible to go through a simple song with each fingerstyle pattern.... some thing we could practice on?? Thanks for taking us back to the basics... a GRERAT help.
Great suggestion! I'll consider that for the next level of this series. If you're interested in more resources including practice tracks, worksheets and charts, drop by my site and have a look. All the best - Kevin | allforuke.com
This series is very helpful, as was the strumming series. But is there an easier way to do the bl**dy E chord? Unfortunately for a lot of my favourite songs, it's my most comfortable key. I use the capodaster to make it easier, but that's nothing I want to do forever (except for some really bad keys like Ab)
Ah, the ole’ E chord. Quite a challenge on the ukulele. I struggled with it at first as well. Are you currently trying to barre the 4th fret with your ring finger on the top 3 strings and use your index on the 2nd fret - A string? Something I suggest to my private students is to play the top three strings with middle-ring-pinky on the g-c-e strings, and index on the a string - 2nd fret. Hope this makes sense and helps! Let me know how it goes - Kevin
Hi Kevin, I am doing well playing a little UKE everyday since I've put it beside my bed and believe me I don't get to sleep unless I've spent some time on my UKE. As for the fingerpicking, well it's getting better but I'm still not getting the strings to ring out perfectly. They sound OK when strumming but every single flaw comes out when picking. Help???
Thank you! Cheers! If you'd like to explore additional learning resources like worksheets, tabs, practice tracks and courses, drop by the AllForUke website and have a look around. All the best - Kevin | allforuke.com/lessons
Hello, I am really enjoying your course. If I use my middle finger in A string instead of using index finger, is there any disadvantage or maybe for some another reason index is better? Please let me know about it. I will be very grateful.
Thank you for staying with me :) I figured we needed a little easier one for Day 4 and I really like the pattern. How are you doing with your fingerpicking journey thus far? ~Kevin
Hey Kevin, Love the exercises thus far!! Really helped me becoming more flexible & focussed while picking. Problem is I use 4 different fingers (Thumb-G, Index-C, Middle-E, & Ring-A) while picking. I just need to know if I should continue like this or specifically follow your 2 finger way to exercise ???? BTW A huge Thanks from India.. Don't forget to smile!
All the finger pickings so far are easy to play . But the thing is i practised the previous pickings so much that I'll go with previous patterns nostalgically while playing the current one .
Glad to hear it - I know Day 3 was a bit tricky so I wanted to give you guys an easy one for Day 4. Ready for Day 5 - premieres Tuesday at 4pm CST. -- Kevin
@@AllForUke and it was def a smart move to have a tricky day 3, I now enjoy myself very much playing the picking pattern you taught us! #AwesomeTeacher ;)
Hi! I don't know if anyone would agree, but it would be easier for me to follow if the diagram was upside down, meaning A is down and G is up..as it is when I look down at my uke, A string is further down from my eyes.. if that makes any sense at all 😁 Cheers
You can as long as the time sigs match up. Some will work better than others obviously but you can always experiment and see what works best. Keep in touch - Kevin

AllForUke I meant, I only heard you say the name of the fingerpicking style dreamy and Travis. The other 3 fingerpicking styles taught in your 5 day workshop I did not hear a name for. Do you know the names of the other fingerpicking styles you taught? I like them all, they are simple for a beginner to understand and eventually maybe use. Thank you for teaching them.
Love this whole class! Thank you very very very much for permission to look at my fingers in the beginning. The visual is helping me lock in the pick pattern. As a I improve I am already able for a slow pick on. Auto pilot. Amazing!
those reminders to smile.... get me every time. thank you!

Fantastic, you're a great teacher. These tutorials are helping me advance on the ukulele.
Thank you Kevin for your patience, your lessons give me hope.🙏🙌
Is there a particular reason to why we dont use the middle finger instead of the index for the A chord ?
great way of teaching...thanks
Thank you for the great lesson. I just wondering why use only two fingers and not four, Th, i, m and a?

But just a request. I'm encountering issues changing the chords while picking. Any suggestions on how to make chord changes easier in finger picking?
I’m enjoying these lessons thank you Kevin. I am elderly and have slightly arthritic fingers now but I’m getting there!
Very good mate
Love this course. Could you do one on Blues soloing please. 😍
Great idea - I think a soloing series would be cool with a day dedicated to The Blues. Thanks for the feedback ~Kevin
I looked for such tutorials for many many hours :D Thanks a lot
I think this one is the easiest from the series!

Does this finger plucking work on a baritone ukulele?

Kevin you are a wonderful teacher, would you consider a reading music series?
Another great idea - are you referring to tab or actual music score?
Never thought id see the day where I can successfully finger pick!
Thank you and smile.
How do you do the jazzy bit a the end?
diggin this course. This pattern is a little more challenging with muscle memory being used to the previous T I T M,

Heyy -- glad to hear you're sticking with it! What's your favorite pattern thus far? ~Kevin
Day 4 has to be my favorite - I love the chord progression
i find it much easier to use thumb indenx thumb middle as that is what i have been doing in relating each finger to a particular string
This is a great picking pattern! Thanks
You're welcome Donna - glad you're enjoying it. Ready for Day 5? It's a good one :) - Kevin
