I’m learning this picking pattern on a guitar and I thank you for teaching it to me. I’ll teach my sis, the ukulele player and off we shall go to fame and fortune
4:10 is when instruction really starts 5:20 Play-along on chords G, ‘Em, C, D11 (2 rounds each chord) 5:55 what playing it faster sounds like 6:25 Travis Picking Technique in combination with a melody
Marco I just want to say you have been my inspiration for 1 year now. I absolutely love your videos and you have taught me so much on the ukulele. You are a fantastic tutor and I love learning your music. I hope you read this message.
I started learning it your way and then ended up switching and using my middle finger for the A string….I’m happy with it like that, feels more comfortable!
Marco, once again you have given us a true gift of your amazing ability to keep things fairly simple and straight forward yet sounding beautiful and pleasing to the ear. A rare talent for many teachers. We are blessed to have you share your knowledge and talents with us. You are a true and natural treasure to all that love music. Thank you.
Thank you so much for showing not only how to do the picking pattern, but also some fun ways to use it in songs!! I'm not very creative when it comes to playing around with picking/strumming patterns and found that so nice :) Great tutorial!!
You are a legend man. Easy to learn from you. Thankyou. I bought a Ukelele so I could play for my grandson. You are making it fun and rewarding very fast. Thanks Marco
I really like the way you don't just switch all the way into a chord between cycles of the pattern, it appears as though you plant 1 finger then the rest on the next cycle. I could be imagining things, but that seems like a fun way to keep your picking flow without rushing your left hand.
These lessons are so useful and motivating Marco! Thank you so much for teaching us all of this and not hiding it all behind a paywall.... We deeply appreciate it
2:00. So Marco, I love your videos, and I have learned a lot. But I do have a question about why, with the Travis method, you are only using the index finger? When I first started to finger pick using a 4132 string progression it was natural for me to only use my thumb and forefinger. I have practiced my way out of that to include the middle and ring fingers when picking. Now, when trying to learn the Travis picking method, I keep wanting to use my middle finger on the number one string. So I find myself continuously going back-and-forth between doing it both ways. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to only using the index finger? Thanks for the videos and keep them coming!
tellement joli ! Même sans comprendre la langue vous êtes un très bon professeur! Je me mets au travail de suite et j'attends la prochaine vidéo avec impatience Merci beaucoup
Your videos have really helped me get much better, so thank you! They're the perfect level for me, challenging but not unreachable. And really beautiful as well. I appreciate it so much.
Спасибо огромное за урок! Ваш канал-это открытие для меня! Я полюбил укулеле, по новому, еще больше, благодаря вам, хотя до этого любил её всем сердцем! Супер!
hi Marco, I have been trying to learn this picking pattern for a while now, but no matter how fast I go, it doesn't not sound like the demo that you played. I noticed tyat there are small pauses in your demo, but I am not sure how they work. I'd love to know how you did it. I looked at other TH-cam videos, but their tutorials do not sound like your demo. i dont think i have my timing right. thank you for this great video.
Love this picking pattern ! Thanks a lot for your very good work ! Whether for the ukulele or guitar player community your videos are very precious and awesome =)
Great video !! I like your tutorials and have subscribed the channel ..Can you please tell me Is it rule to use thumb for 3rd and 4th string .. should only thumb has be used even if a person wants to play songs? Im learning ukulele from observing TH-cam videos .. please answer
This was the only way I could figure out how to finger pick without my brain frying. Little did I know it was a whole method developed in the 30’s-50’s?! My phone was listening and said ahhh, here you go.
Try to keep your uke nearby and throughout the day (if possible) pick up for even 5-10 minutes at a time. With small, multiple practices instead of one long session you'll notice each time you'll be a little better.
Marco for the win! I’ve learned more in 3 videos that I did after my first 3 months of owning a Uke. Thanks for the great teaching aids. Are you on Patreon? And do you teach Guitar as well (I suck at that too lol)
Very nice! I will pu this to good use!! Thanks for sharing! I use a couple different picking patterns but always good to learn a new one!! At least new to me!
As said before many times here this again was a great lesson. I already know the Travis Picking but how much the melody adds to this sound is new to me. And these are the things that make you different from many other teachers. Thank you so much, Marco. By the way, is this out of your fingerstyle course?
Look up the video "Mississippi John Hurt - You Got To Walk That Lonesome Valley (Live)" here on TH-cam to see an interesting technique. It's guitar, but variation of this.

I've seen several approaches to the Travis Pattern on Uke, but yours is by far the best. Thank you. 👍🏻
Wow thanks a lot for the kind words! 🎸☀️

Thanks for showing the Travis finger style picking on the ukulele.. I thought they are for the guitars only..
You are so great, 8 mo. Playing. Thank you. Need a new Ukelele. Travis?
I enjoyed your video but is this in 6/8 time? I was looking for one in 4/4 time. thanks.
This is so beautiful

Great video !! I like your tutorials and have subscribed the channel ..Can you please tell me Is it rule to use thumb for 3rd and 4th string .. should only thumb has be used even if a person wants to play songs? Im learning ukulele from observing TH-cam videos .. please answer
There are a lot of different options. You can strum with the thumb but when it comes to Fingerstyle I would use thumb index and middle finger :)
Thank you soooo much!! You are a great teacher and now I can play something that sounds great. Keep up the good work!
Nice!
Love it! Keep it up!!!
This was the only way I could figure out how to finger pick without my brain frying. Little did I know it was a whole method developed in the 30’s-50’s?! My phone was listening and said ahhh, here you go.
Off the subject here but could you maybe teach the nutcracker 'pas de deux' in ukulele chords? That would be sweet.
Try to keep your uke nearby and throughout the day (if possible) pick up for even 5-10 minutes at a time. With small, multiple practices instead of one long session you'll notice each time you'll be a little better.
