I've been training this pattern when suddenly my fingers started to move automaticaly :o strange but satisfying experience, cause i can now stop paying attention to the strings i'm picking and start listening the melody. Great tutorial ! Glad I find this.
I'm connecting with so many folks from the UK - I love it. Definitely need to visit the place where most of my heritage comes from. Someone once told me Presbrey is town in England. Ever heard of it?
Very welcome! If you'd like more learning resources, drop by the AllForUke website and have a look at our extensive library of courses, song sheets, tabs and practice jam tracks. Thanks for learning with me! - Kevin | allforuke.com
Checking into the channel in 2024. Greatly appreciate the hard work you’ve put into these videos along with the supplementary info (tab sheets,etc.). Was gifted a Uke this Christmas and these videos have been fun as hell every morning before work. The outcome you sought has been fulfilled, brother!
I enjoyed the tutorial. I had a little difficulty with the pattern. Wanted to play the C string as second last string rather than the G. I'm glad you have started a new fingerpicking series. A big thank you, Kevin.
Your ukulele lessons are all brilliant Kevin : ) I love the pace, your style and instruction. I am really enjoying getting to know how to finger pick. I have to say I need to work on the third lesson........the pace is my current challenge. Much gratitude to you all the way from beautiful New Zealand : )
Thank you so much Kevin. You are such a wonderful teacher absolutely love your lessons. And that uke I have bought it akalot tenor arrives next Wednesday can hardly wait Thanks again for your channel Kind Regards from Perth Western Australia 👏👏👏👏👏
Dreammmmyyyyyy! Thank you Kevin!! :) I was wondering if you could recommend some songs to play along using the fingerpicking patterns we've learnt so far? xx
Thank you so much for these lessons Kevin. I am 66 and I have been having this ukulele which I got as a gift from a friend for a couple of years now. It's a brand called Flight made China and sounds great. Hopefully I will come to the point when I will have to go for that Bamboo concert size. I was going nowhere until now. I am taking things slow according to your advise and on to Day 3 in a week or so but I am happy cos I think I am really getting the hang of it. These lessons are simple and great to get started. 👌
I enjoy the variation and challenge from day 1's pattern. Definitely need to practice on speeding it up. But am i the only one who feels like the chords (Amaj7 and A7) sounds like a crime fighting show where the detectives are in the lab looking at evidence trying to solve the case while the villain is still at large? I actually felt so stressed and anxious! Maybe bc i was also trying to keep up. 🙃🙂🙃
Thank you so much for your videos!! I feel like I'm finally learning correctly how to play and that feels so good! I really feel like I'm making progress by each passing day!
Hi Kevin, just wanna say thanks for making these series! I've been trying to find the perfect video that explains fingerpicking for ukulele, and your videos are my favorite cause they're really easy to understand😊 Looking forward to improve my skill through your tutorial! I made a video playing ukulele for Sinatra's - It Had to be You on my channel. Planning to make another cover using one of the fingerpicking technique😁
This series has been so wonderful! Excited to get to days 4 &5. Thanks for making these lessons for everyone! I truly appreciate your positive energy and supportive teaching style. Many, many thanks for making something that's been difficult before seem so much easier now. ❤
Thank you so much for the fingerpicking tutorials. It looks so hard in the beginning but it's easy to learn, the more you try. I love it from day 1 on. Looking foward to learn every tutorial here.
I've been going through this series at a real slow pace taking one day to watch and learn and about a week to practice what I learned. I have found that I keep wanting to go back into the Travis pick instead of adding the extra 2 plucks to make it "dreamy." It has made following along with you in this video a real challenge 😂
Loving this series. It’s helping me to learn new notes and to move my fingers more quickly. I would love to have some suggestions on songs that would go with each of these strumming patterns. L
Tqsm for making this series!! I’ve been playing the ukulele for awhile and haven’t been able to fingerpick well till I found your videos!! HUGE THANK YOU!!
Did Day 1&2 yesterday. Did day 3 today. It was harder after practicing day 1 yesterday because my fingers kept wanting to revert back. This is my first time finger picking. I kept up! But I think it’s easier to play another instrument after that laying the piano for years. Really enjoying your videos so far. You through me for a loop with the increase in tempo, but I rewound 10 seconds and started again without problems.
Lesson three is great I love this dreamy sound - have a lot of practice to do though!! But loving it - perfect for my long lockdown days if my fingertips can hold out.
Kevin, you're such an amazing teacher! It 's a joy to play with you! Love the finger picking lessons! I repeat them a few days until I can follow the fast parts! Like your style and humour too 🤭 Martine from Belgium
This is really pretty and hard to play but I finally feel like I got some structure to play with other than strumming chords. Since I have a banjolele, I think I need to tuck in my pinky so the sound vibrates properly. Thank you for the great lessons!
Thank you for these finger picking videos! Now I need to get my fingers to lay right on the frets so I don't get flat sounds. Practice! Practice! You give me hope!
I love this. I have been mucking about with ukes for a while and have learnt several strumming songs. But this is really good Have to train my fingers. but it feels like I am getting somewhere (not over the rainbow) thanks. I am 70 in the UK.
Hi Kevin, your teaching is great. Fell in love with the ukelele when I picked one up for the first time last year. Not your oldest student at a mere 72. Many thanks.
Well Done! Thank you for putting chord and picking notations on the screen as try to play alone. We don't have to struggle as much. I'll being going to your web page and seeing what else I can learn. New Orleans

Thank you so much for making all these wonderful videos! You are a great teacher, and I enjoy every time I play along! You are creating such great content it feels like a huge steel to get it for free. Thanks again! Have a good one.

My favorite picking pattern so far. I love it!💖 It's definitely dreamy. At first I was having a hard time with it...fumbling a lot. I was concentrating on my fingers too much so then I closed my eyes and found my rhythm. The beautiful sound was so relaxing... especially with my eyes closed. Next thing I knew, I was picking much much faster with such ease. It felt so natural. I can't wait to learn more. Thank you!!🙏🏼 Love the way you teach. Btw, are you going to the International Ukulele Festival this month in Torrance, CA? If so, I hope to thank you in person. 😊👍🏼
Hi Im new learner of ukelele with no music background. Just starting to learn these days. Thank you so much for your videos. Its very informative and clear. 💕😊
Thanks Kevin your fingerpicking tutorials are fantastic and your teaching methods are so good. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to other lessons. In the mean time the 5 Day Series offers lots to concentrate on
Love your fingerpicking lessons! Got through Days 1 & 2 but I must have been dreaming through Day 3 as I need to spend some more time on this one! Got the pattern just need to speed things up!
hey! thanks for your videos and your really good input and your teaching to really play, techniques, where to put the pinky and stuff like this! makes me feel way better, secure and definitely more professional in learning to play the uke! it becomes very clear what to do and why to do it. i really enjoy this series and im glad to have found your videos with this little bit extra input ;) :)
It's only taken me a day or too I found out ukulele is my hidden talent idk if it's because of the 4 strings or I'm just good at it idk but I love my instrument and you are an amazing instructor. Much love from New Mexico
I love this pattern. Have to go really slow on this for me to get it down pat. You are correct. It is very dreamy. Thanks for all your hard work and patience. I have a lesson book of your instructions that I’m keeping. These really help to have a practice format.
Our pleasure! If you'd like even more learning resources including practice tracks, pdfs and charts, check out my site. All the best - Kevin | www.allforuke.com/memberships
i honestly think youre magic. i just watched 1,2 and now 3 in a row and got down finger picking in 40 minutes rather than last three months that ive tried learning this. thank you!! if possible can you help me figure out a comfortable position to rest my hand for my uku, i dont have a normal ukulele, i have a 21' soprano ukulele which is much smaller, even considered a toy. but its what i can afford and it works for now right?
Just play. Music doesn't care what u look like , smell like, where you are from, how much or little your instruments cost... MUSiC will reward any person that puts forth the effort. So baby steps smile before to long music will be a willing partner rewarding your efforts in unexpected wonderful ways. Keep strumming 😎
Kevin, thanks a lot for the the great tutorials. This finger pricking is new to me. Up until now it has been all strumming. It is easy for me to hear strumming patterns and play songs. Unfortunately for me, it is not as easy for me to understand how this would translate to a song. I am guessing you just pick along with the chords instead of strumming, but was hoping you could show me how any one of the 3 finger-picking patterns can translate to a song.
Love this pattern, the first chord progression starting with Amaj7 reminded me of the soundtrack of X-Files! Trip down memory lane! Definitely not a speed demon yet, so I’ll keep practice slow 🐢 Thanks for the lesson Kevin, you have such a wonderful teaching style 👏
Much more difficult than previous. I will be doing this one for at least a few days until muscle memory becomes automatic before I move on. So a great day #3!!
Much appreciated! Have you checked out my Kickstart Series 1 and 2 yet? If you're interested in more resources including practice tracks, worksheets and charts, drop by my site and have a look. All the best - Kevin | allforuke.com

Cool, I'm really enjoying these tutorials since I took up the uke recently. Really helpful.
I've been training this pattern when suddenly my fingers started to move automaticaly :o strange but satisfying experience, cause i can now stop paying attention to the strings i'm picking and start listening the melody. Great tutorial ! Glad I find this.
So there is hope !?
Thank you Kevin,
Absolutely wonderful teaching. Greeting from a 78 year old in Lincolnshire UK.

Couldnt find a place called presbrey but there is a place called Prestbury

This is hard but love the dreamy sound when you play
