Only just come across your Ark Server Manager tutorial and have only watched a little bit of the second one but, I like your style. I hope you're still making videos. Thank you for the excellent ASM videos.
Is it possible to do a tutorial on the RCON options.. cause no one else has... everyone always skips it... and I am wanting to use it . I have tried to set it up with no success... I have set the RCON ports in firewall and in Router config.. it will not start.. reboot messages will not post in the server to warn connected users of automatic updates... HELP PLZ!
Hey Twitchy Digits, you've missed a little bit with the whitelisted players. Everything you said is correct, but also all whitelisted players do not need to enter a Password, if one is set, too. So yes, it enables those players to join even if the server is full, but they also are recognized as trustworthy and do not need to enter the password. EDIT: I was wrong - the password is still required even with whitelisting. Sorry for the confusion.
@@TwitchyDigitsGaming - Uhm... now might it be, they changed that? Because I remember it working like I described when Aberration came out, but now it still asks for my password on my new server. I'll check and verify that again and come back to let you know how it *really* behaves. I don't want to spread false information...
@@TwitchyDigitsGaming, okay, I'm very sorry, but I was wrong. Maybe my memory is flawed or they indeed changed the behaviour in the time between Aberrations release and now. It looks like whitelisting indeed only gives the ability to join even if the server is full. The Password is still required. Sorry for the confusion.
I have a question about whitelisting, so if you get 5/5 players in your server and then you add your steam ID to the whitelist, you are able to join no matter what, but will this kick a random player that is on the server already?. Btw great video and really helpful. Thanks!
Not sure, never tried to use both to be honest. It should technically reject the player if their steam64ID is not in the list even if they have a password... but never tested that.
@@TwitchyDigitsGaming i got it working the command line was messed up for me and every server has to have it written exactly the same, very confusing kinda lost a lot of progression especially with updating mods, so i moved to ASM and it’s just way easier lol running a cluster being able to just start a server and transfer everything saved on one profile to another, it helps so much. I do thank you for showing me asm as it saves time and a lot of effort!
Just checked, and Yes, works the same way for Epic users - only the names don't show up in the Server Manager. Get their Log In data by letting them type listplayers and insert it into the list.
Honestly I have no answer for that, I have not heard of anyone having success with the Epic version of the game connecting to a Steam based server using exclusive join.
@@TwitchyDigitsGaming It works using the open *Server-IP* Command in single-player as long as the server doesn't have password protection. That's where the whitelist comes in handy, it's unacceptable really and I hope epic games fixes this soon but it's a workaround. Thanks for the video - it helped understand why the whitelist wasn't working!
@@69Alpha69Wolfe69 If they use the 'listplayers' command in a single player world their IP will show up. The server host can then put that IP into the exclusive join in the server manager and it'll work fine (did at that time).
just add this to your command line arguments for start up: -exclusivejoin This is part of the command line arguments I use for my servers: AllowCrateSpawnsOnTopOfStructures=True -ForceAllowCaveFlyers -NoBattlEye -useallavailablecores -exclusivejoin -nosteamclient -game -server -log Hope that helps
The Steam server list has been broken for quite a while now. If you are hosting from home, make sure you add the local server's IP and port for LAN and not your public IP. You can not query a locally hosted server using your own public IP address.
Ok so is my port we will say 9999 and my local IP we will say 123.123.123.1 so I put in 9999:123.123.123.1 is that right? And then for others to join I use my query port and public up in that same order?
The easy way for friends to join/find your server is to give them your public IP and the query port (example would be 100.100.100.100:27015). Then they add that favorites list in Steam. View => Servers => Favorites => Add a Server. When they are at the server select screen in ARK, they can filter servers by favorites and join.

To my understanding, it will not kick anyone. I have not tested this though.

im on the epic games version...how would i whitelist myself and do exclusive join with that or is it not possible?
Honestly not sure if you can, this whole cross play with Epic kinda threw a bunch of screws in the machine LOL
Thankyou! i couldn't figure out why my steam ID wasn't working. It be nice if ASM actually called for the steam ID 64. Thanks for pointing that out!
Glad it helped!
Can the passwords still be set, or do that mess something up?\
I don't think it matters if I remember correctly.
How can i add events pls help
cant i use both 1 enable exclusive join and 2 password

Does this still work? If so where do i add admin password? Do i add it in the bin files on the actual server for each server?
Honestly I have not hosted an ARK server since they added EPIC support so I am not sure.

I don't understand why I don't see my name next to my ID do you have a solution?
You are either using the incorrect ID, or if you copied and pasted it may have a space at the beginning or the end which does not belong.

do you mean the command switch or the name of the file?
The command switch I'm not using Ark Manger
just add this to your command line arguments for start up:
-exclusivejoin

AllowCrateSpawnsOnTopOfStructures=True -ForceAllowCaveFlyers -NoBattlEye -useallavailablecores -exclusivejoin -nosteamclient -game -server -log
