Could you recommend something for me. I would like to have a good picture of figures for recognition and distance between counter and camera should be 2-3 inches.

    • @ThatProject
      @ThatProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'd be good to use a 160-degree fisheye lens, but it can be bad for number recognition because of the severe distortion. You can turn it by force on the basic lens. Please refer to this.

    Have you encountered with OV2640 camera module overheating? I have 160-degree camera, which overheats in less than a minute after using it. I have not glued it to MicroSD slot as you did, just wondering if it will help, if camera is glued to MicroSD slot. Also, have you tried to run these cameras in long term?
    My camera overheats and FPS drops down also image gets darker with green/blue color overfilling.

    • @ThatProject
      @ThatProject  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's common for FPS drops to occur due to bottlenecks, but it is strange for FPS drops to occur due to usage time. I doubt there is a problem with your ESP32CAM board.

    Hello I am looking for spectra data for OV2640, you mentioned the camera is fitter with 650nm IR cutoff. Can you give a reference where did you find this value? Camera datasheet from OmniVision doesnt mention the kind of IR filter the camera uses

    • @ThatProject

  • @BlondieSL

    So I bought a 2-package of the 160 degree with the longer cable.
    One works very well, the picture is so clear and the color is better than the little ones that came with the ESP32-CAM boards.
    BUT, sadly, the 2nd camera is trash. It just produced a square with random garbage flashing all over the place.
    I tested it on other boards just to confirm that it was the problem. It was.
    I then put it under the electronic microscope to see if by chance the cable had an issue. Nope.
    So then, I applied some heat with my SMD heat pen and for a quick moment, the picture came in, but was very distorted.
    So I figured, what the hell. I'll try to reflow it in case it was just a bad spot on the tiny pcb.
    Well... I applied the heat and POP!!! The camera sensor element literally popped off and when flying! ROFL
    The solder balls on the tiny pcb did seem to not be 100% right, but I can't find the element now to try to fix it.
    At least, by seeing this video, I saw that with patience, the little lens can be unscrewed.
    So I was able to unscrew that and put it onto the little cam that came with the boards.
    Now I have a wider view, which I prefer.
    So thanks for proving that the lens can be removed.

    • @ThatProject
      @ThatProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think we cannot find any MCU which doesn't have a clock. Microcontrollers need a clock to ensure timing control. A clock signal is a particular type of signal that oscillates between a high and a low state and is used as a chronometer to coordinate actions of digital circuits. A clock signal is produced by a clock generator.

      @@ThatProject chances are the camera is broken during shipping, but idk how to trouble shoot the camera.
      And does trying to use dev kit/vroom/wroom what ever they called, or using additional power supply might have a chance to solve the problem?

    is the datasheet available for all these cameras?
    for some idiotic reason, i've heard the company producing the OV line of cameras keep their datasheets secret.
    the result is a needless hassle for hobbyists to use the product.
    its a really stupid thing on the part of the company as nobody will then end up experimenting with and using their product.

      I don't know if that's true or not, but it's true that the datasheet isn't really available. I sincerely hope they open it for more users.

      There can be several ways.
      The easiest way is to use the ESP32 CameraWebServer to access it from your mobile phone's web browser.
      For other methods, please refer to my ESP32CAM project. th-cam.com/video/9GyOTlOGjSA/w-d-xo.html
