I just realized, Yor never actually let anya throw a ball during training. No wonder why she couldn’t throw the ball right, Yor forgot the most important part of the training, anya actually practicing her throwing

Man, that whole sequence with her throw was SO GOOD, and the payoff of their reaction was maybe the best I've ever seen!
Yor throwing the ball over the water is, I think, a callout to the SDF crashing from Macross.
It's kind of a moe rendition of the iconic HunterXHunter Dodgeball sequence (God-tier btw). This is nice for what it is, but that was something else, something of a phenom in many ways.
The other team was just chilling while the 30 year old did all the work 💀

If we suppose SxF is set during Cold War, and seeing how they already have a pretty advanced color tv, I'm pretty sure we are in the 80s in this show. And since it's a fictional world we could suppose they already have DB.

When I first saw Bill I actually wondered if he was a government experiment like Anya. But then we saw his daddy and I realized that no, it's just that he comes from a family of giants.
I will still hold on the thought that Bill is an experiment. His dad, is freaking M.Bison. We all know Shadoloo perform lots of nasty experiments on humans

Yeah it surprised me when I read the manga. They're quite literally far from the stereotypical lackeys that bullies have. The both of them are literally one of the most loyal characters I've seen in a while.
yeah they’re actually legit his friends. damian’s a really fun subversion of the typical “evil rich boy” trope. you expect him to be a little draco malfoy with two idiots he doesn’t even like following him around, but really he’s just a rude-ish kid with two best friends who really hype him up lol

@@ChampionOfHammerfell I guess different rules for different countries because of different cultures and interpretation of the game. SxF has same dodgeball rules with HxH. In my country, our rules of dodgeball change slightly depending on our local region since we're an archipelago country.
I kind of love how everyone is discussing dodgeball rules. Let me contribute my part: where I live, catching the ball allows the member from your team that was eliminated first to rejoin the field (yes, this does stretch out the game significantly)
@@headhunter1958 In my school in germany we had the same rules. If you catch it then you are safe and could get one eliminated person back onto the court, but I can't exactly remember if the person throwing the ball got eliminated if the ball was caught though. So the rules can vary alot depending where you went to school and maybe even what country you lived in.

I’m hyped for the second half. Up until now, it’s been very episodic, but in my opinion, that’s when the actual storyline gets moving.

yor teaching anya to throw a ball was mostly off screen in the manga it was just implied that it happend other than yor giving tips like using the whole body

I love so much with the contrast of sweeping camera angles power up animations before the throw to have it switch to her getting bopped in the head and a single animation model falling over

It's a split cour. The second half will be back in October I believe with all the heavy hitters like Bleach, chainsaw and mob. Every episode of spy x family is an event and I love how they expand on almost everything from the manga. The whole aesthetic of the series really pops on screen.

Throughout the first few minutes of the episode, I couldn't help but say "elegant" towards Henderson's morning rituals.

This is probably a man who grew up without television. These morning ritual were probably all the entertainment he got.
That entire dodgeball game was a homage to the greats man. That cliff that they were climbing? Goku vs Vegeta on Earth first fight. That second scene you guys caught was namek.
But there was so many references to HxH (even the name of the anime kind of). When he tried to stop the ball, that's the attack that blew gon out his shoes.
When anya closed her eyes, that window angle of the leaf and the wind blowing. Literally Gon's second to last attack towards razor. He closed his eyes, concentrated his nen and it was the same window angle lol.
This episode was great, had me crackin tf up the whole time 😂
Bill is 6 years old. I almost died laughing when I saw "Bill Watkins (6)". Then seeing the "Daddy!" scene later, his dad's gotta be like 7 feet tall!

That is a steeping timer. To properly make tea you need to make sure your water is at the proper temperature for the type of tea and then (depending on the kind of tea) it needs to steep and rest for a certain amount of time. Sometimes the timer is called an egg timer. Growing up, my mother used to measure the temperature of the water (always using a stovetop kettle) and then would time the tea. She threw a fit when I told her how my roommate in college would microwave her tea. I've never seen my mother so mad.
The rewatch value for this reaction is pretty high for me. Y'all had me audibly laughing out loud with this one several times 😂 especially Lupa.

Honestly I love the way Cloverworks and Wit Studio went so over the top with this stuff. They went so extra with that Star Catch Arrow because it made the punchline hit THAT much harder. It's equally as funny as the effort they put into the punchline. It's so good

As a manga reader my favorite part of this episode (besides the sick ass animation and added training scenes) has been seeing people reacting get so hype for Anya's big throw only for their faces to drop in an INSTANT when she spikes the ball into the ground, it's so fuckin funny every time

This episode was too funny and when Anya was getting the build up and threw the ball, I died laughing from that scene and I'm glad that I wasn't the only seeing that dbz reference, all in all, funny episode
I fell behind a couple of weeks so I had to come watch these reactions after I finished catching up. This episode had me crying laughing. Bazooka Bill was definitely the best part of this episode 😂

I think Anya is too hard on poor Yor. The problem with Yor's advice is that Anya doesn't actually use it or uses it in ways that undermine the advice. For example, Yor's advice about smiling would probably work, but Anya smiles in a way that antagonizes her enemies, rather than placate them. Similarly, her throw was just bad - she needed more practice! Oh, about the timer the teacher uses: that is so he will know how long to let the tea steep before he pours it.
