Check the purge valve. Disconnect the electric connector and the hose. Turn on car, if there is suction on your finger then is stuck open. It’s sucking too much fuel vapors in the engine
I’m having the same issue. The cluster test was fine. This happened 2 days ago when I put in fuel, it didn’t read, son went to put it in and it read, but when I put it in again this morning it didn’t read again. Am I able to drive it even though it reads no fuel and there is fuel in there?
Of course but you won’t know how much you got in the tank unless you set the trip meter to 0 then fill the tank up, you should be safe for 450 miles. I have videos on removing the sending unit which is most likely the problem. Just search f150 on my channel.
@@motorcarnut just bought a 2013 f150. Did 2 test drives. Drove it home and to the store total about 70 miles on it. Put around $40 in gas into it. Fuel gauge was working fine. I live in the country. I've only had thus truck for 2 day's. Today is July 3 2022. Went to wash it this morning and when I started it this is what happened. Plus my engine light has also appeared. I'm a shade tree Mechanic. Any HELP would be so appreciated. Thank's Paul..
Sounds like the classic float level sensor failing or failed. What happens is the little copper prongs on the sensor break off causing an inaccurate reading or an empty reading and low fuel warning light. Could be an electrical problem too but in your case doesn’t seem to be. If you have a scan tool to read the codes that can be helpful. If it is the level sensor the whole fuel pump unit has to be replaced in the fuel tank.
Yes, this is my video on the problem and fix. Ford F-150 2009 - 2018 Fuel Pump And Sending Unit Removal & Replacement th-cam.com/video/2ndtLabPSIE/w-d-xo.html
My truck is doing the same thing 2013 F150 3.5L I did the cluster test and it did the same thing. So I replaced the sending unit and it’s still not fixed
Did you do the cluster gauge test to see if all gauges move? Also the new cluster has to have the same numbers and match the same options on your truck. If gauge test is fine and fuel gauge moves then it's probably the fuel sending unit.
Turn the truck off, hold down your reset button then turn your key to the on position while holding the rest button down then you can toggle through a the diagnosis menu The guage sweep is one of the options

It’s unrelated to the video but still good information. Thanks

My 14 mustang is having the same issue. My battery went dead a couple days ago so I replaced it and still didn’t fix it. Any ideas?
If you have a scan tool to do a gauge check and it checks out good, it’s probably the fuel sending unit in the fuel tank.
What was the problem with this and how did you end up fixing it?
In my situation it was the fuel pump sending unit, I have videos on everything I did to find the problem.

@@motorcarnut Thank You. Gonna take it back to the Dealership Tuesday. Is it OK to Drive the Truck or do I need to get it towed there? Thank's Paul.
No, should be fine to drive it there. As long as you know you have gas in the tank to make it there. Good luck!
Super helpful video
Glad it was helpful!
