    It's amazing how France went from being one the most populated places on earth during most of history, to a relatively sparsely populated in one or two centuries. The 19th and 20th centuries were brutal.

      The correct read is other areas used technology to enable more people to survive and reproduce. So France kept growing, and the other areas grew more quickly and over took France. Expect that in Nigeria, Congo, Ethiopia, and so on.

    Quite a few demographers now coming to the expectation that we are close to peak population now and will likely be where it is now in 2100. The population boom of the last 60 years was entirely built on one thing... the green revolution... which itself was and is built around the availability of a single commodity. Fertilizer... which as we are now discovering can and will become a increasingly scarce and expensive commodity. All developed countries face decreasing populations, while the un-developed will increasingly look like Haiti.

      True. I expect the U.S. to reach peak population in the 2030s unless we greatly increase the number of immigrants allowed to enter the country. 2023 the U.S. only increased by 0.5%, near the lowest ever recorded. And as low as the US population growth rate is, it’s still deceptively high as the boomers are keeping us from already having negative population growth like China.

    5:45, Ireland at 8.1 Million, still not recovered from the famine

    • @xenotypos
      @xenotypos ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It probably never will, that famine happened at the worst moment: in the only moment in history in which Europe experienced a demographic boom (except France...). Later, it was too late, and now the birthrate is too low, I assume the population will even decline sadly. Low birthrate is a silent killer of societies.
      I assume that if that famine happened in the 17th or the 18th century, things would have recovered more easily. It was really bad luck for Ireland, it would have more than 30 million people today in that case.

    I'm suspected that before industrial revolution nowdays developed country already advanced economically or culturally, environmentally.

    • @xenotypos
      @xenotypos ปีที่แล้ว +4

      At least Japan had a large growth in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. That's why today the population of is twice larger than France's population.
      The odd one, is really France, that had a drop in birthrate very early in history (19th century). Even her european neighbours overtook her population at some point. The case is kinda unique. It also explains why France's standing amongst the great powers lowered during the late 19th century.

    • @Rowlph8888

      Not at all. France was a backward, intolerant, top-down, Ruliing autocracy with a small elite an the vast majority were simply peasants,, before the mid-19th-century.
      *There are 2 Chapters to human history 1) before the mid-1600's (Very slow, ponderous and relatively unimpressive advancement), and 2)After 1689, where gradually other groups except a small real elite in Every country, began to exercise some personal rights, Ambition and inventtiveness - Leading to the explosion of inventions and quality-of-life becoming substantially better with each decaade, making the rest of history look like nothing
      *The seminal moment in history was undoubtedly the 1st execution of a Ruling authority (Charles I) and a significantt portion of the population grasping some personal powe. This was The enfoorcemennt of the English Bill of Rights (1689),on william of orange and Constituency-based Parliamentary democracy in the UK (1707)… This in turn led to the American constitution and Bill of Rights, The French Beheading their king,, bringing in more free structures and so on and so on.This in turn led to far more members of the public contributing to new Ideas, Medical advancements, leading to gradually vast increases in population, Industrialisation, investment banking and advancements In each decade From the midd-18th-century that launched The human race forward more each time The eentire history of the human race before the 17th century

    The one mistake made in this video is in regard to the territory in which is now Nigeria. Nigeria did not show up on this list until well into the late 1800's, yet for nearly 1000 years before that time the lands in which make up Nigeria was home to some of the largest ethnic groups, kingdomes and empires on the African continent; millions of people.
    In the 1400's when the first Europeans arrived at the Great Benin Kingdom in south central Nigeria, its capital..Benin City was home to nearly 200,000 residents, making it easily one of the largest Cities on the face of the earth at the time. That's just one city out of dozens like it within what is today Nigeria. This is why the majority of Africans taken from Africa as slaves to the Americas and Europe came from Nigeria, because even back then the area had a very large population. The size of that population was majorly impacted by the loss of ((millions)) of people who were stolen from there and shipped off to the Americas and Europe, starting as far back as the early 1500's. 🙄 Nigeria's current sharp rise in population is in reality only a recovery of a status in the world the area would of already obtained if its process would not had been interrupted by 300 years of mass population loss from European slave trading. Most people of African decent in the Americas are of Igbo, Yoruba and other Nigerian based ethnic lineage.

    The projections for this century in this video for this century are unrealistic. Births are already falling almost all across the world except in parts of Africa and some countries in central Asia. You have the population of Thailand growing right up to the 2030s, but the population there has already started to fall - this year there will be 500,000 births and over 600,000 deaths. Take Mexico, for example - births peaked at 2.9million a year way back in 1994. Last year there were just 1.9m births. This trend of falling births and rising deaths will continue, and Mexico's population is almost certain to start declining in ten to fifteen years. It's a similar story in Brazil, Argentina, Chile etc. Yet you have all these countries growing well into the middle of the century. It's not credible.

      For the countries mentioned, deaths will exceed births in the following years:
      Thailand 2028:
      B: 601,000 vs. D: 606,000
      Mexico 2054:
      B: 1,426,000 vs. D: 1,442,000
      Brazil 2047:
      B: 2,228,000 vs. D: 2,253,000
      Argentina 2062:
      B: 513,000vs. D: 515,000
      Chile 2045:
      B: 184,000 vs. D: 188,000

    К видео очень много вопросов, особенно к последней четверти. С чего вдруг автор решил, что население Китая после 2025 года будет только уменьшаться, а Индии и Пакистана только расти? Стремительный рост населения многих стран был обусловлен стремительным развитием экономики, торговли в мире. Этот период заканчивается. В ближайшие 30 лет начинается усушка, утряска мировой торговли. Начнутся войны региональные, а потом и мировые. И в этой топке сгорит много людей. Китай станет 1 экономикой мира, это очевидно, и рано или поздно его население снова начнет расти. Ученые-демографы давно подсчитали, что в районе 2070-2080 население мира перестанет расти и начнется повсеместная убыль населения. Нет вообще никаких предпосылок для столь чудовищного большого населения в 2100 году у Филиппин, Египта, Танзании, Конго. Во всех странах есть саморегуляция населения.
