I have one that still works and still has the original battery. SIM compatibility is a bit challenging because a lot of modern "SIM" cards are really "USIM only" cards and the phone rejected them. When I put an old Vodafone dual-mode (SIM/USIM) card that was still provisioned with 2G service into it, it worked, and you could make calls and send/receive SMS.

Then you have those who have no need for a phone at all , ie the very young and the very elderly . Add in some other factors then you look at the population of the world. I think a peak of 250 000 000 sales in a year is for the world.

This all feels like a thing of yesterday. I used to have a Nokia 1110 as my first phone, then I saw the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the hype of the iPhone 6, and now there are so many different phones.
Nokia had a Monopoly from the 90's to 2008 when the iPhone creeped in. I had the Nokia 6340i in 2002 then an LG Flip Phone a few years later, then an LG Chocolate...can't remember after that.
You know this just shows you how sad it is that only a few people in the world can afford phones, the first smartphone to be held by most people is in 2010. Smartphones are ridiculously expensive. I am thankful that I have this privilege..
