  • A Big Mac doesn’t cost you $3.99, it costs your health.
Netflix doesn’t cost you $22.99 a month, it costs your time.
Social media isn’t free, it costs your focus.
Join Dr. Josh Axe as he reacts to a powerful video by Pastor Robert Madu delving into the profound impact of our daily choices on the quality and trajectory of our lives.
Dr. Josh Axe breaks down the cost of our bad habits, exploring the statistics that reveal the toll they take on our well-being. From the staggering amount of time spent on TV and social media to the alarming levels of sugar and processed foods in our diets, discover the hidden expenses that often go unnoticed.
    Did you know:
    * The average U.S. adult watches 5 hours of TV per day
    * Americans consume about 130 pounds of sugar per year
    * Processed foods constitute nearly 70% of the U.S. diet
    * The average person spends 2.5 hours on social media each day, while Gen Z devotes at least 4 hours daily
As Dr. Axe navigates through these eye-opening figures, he challenges you to pick your sacrifice-examining the costs not just to your time but also to your health and focus. Tune in to gain valuable insights on how your seemingly small choices can significantly impact the course of your life.

    Brings this quote to mind.
“Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.
Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard.
Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard.
Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard.
Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But we can choose our hard. Pick wisely.”

That's amazing. I wish my retired parents did that. They don't have hobbies and spend all day and evening watching the TV and to me that is such a time and life waster as they don't do anything else. I only use the TV to watch a film, sport or documentary and so my TV time is probably 5 hours a week. I'd rather be walking and being in nature then stuck in front of a TV for 15 hours a day.

Thank you for all your teachings. I have slowly been implementing. I have cut sugar out. I wrote out my goals as you taught in another video. I have chosen new positive roll models to follow. I didn't realize how much TV I was watching after my 10 hour shifts. I bought some books to increase my knowledge and wisdom. No TV for 20y+, no junk food, no scrolling, I use social media for free education and it's relaxing me, 1h a day max. I still need to add exercises but so difficult to find time

    • @drjoshaxe
      @drjoshaxe  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Love to hear it! One tip for finding time to exercise is to start multitasking - Go on walks while you're on work calls or on lunch breaks. You already have time set aside for 1 hour a day to be on social media for free education, consider multiplying your time by listening to something educational while you work out. Hope this helps!

I got rid of tv 4 years ago and do not miss it! I have a tv and DVD player upstairs for movie night. It’s freedom! Also, I noticed the more I’m on my phone - soc media, texting, googling etc it has shortened my attention span. I believe it speeds up my brain and costs me the ability to have sustained focus and attention. I think it creates an add effect.

Meals are cheaper, way better for us and our kids perform better because they have better nutrition. It isn't the most convenient, but well worth it.
