Charlie and Alice are my favourite Twilight characters.
I was a fan of Charlie until the Eclipse book. His acceptance of some of Jacobs behavior really turned me off. But I'll wait to discuss that in the commentary of the Eclipse reaction, if we get one.
Though he stays awesome in the movies.

Yeah, I think that's part of the reason some people are critical of Robs performance. They don't understand that he is literally trying his hardest not to eat her every second he's with her. He obviously won't act entirely "normal" in that situation.
I don't think you fully understand that watching the movie. Really you can even argue the Twilight book from Bellas perspective doesn't quite make it clear how much of a struggle it is for Edward. I think you only get that from reading Midnight Son. People watching the movie just think Edward finds Bellas odor offenive. People who read Midnght Son know he's plotting to murder every single person in the room. And Robs doing his best to convey that with just a look.

I love Twilight but The Cullens and all of the other vampires and werewolves/shifters in the entire series backstories are way more interesting than the love triangle .
Yeah and I’d say that’s one of the biggest issues of twilight.. if everything else is more interesting than the main (3) characters, isn’t something wrong?
@@erikperhs_ um.. you can defend them if you want to, but I didn’t exactly say they were boring (even if they were to me), but that they were uninteresting compared to other (side) characters in the books/movies. Take Alice’s story for example, she had visions as a human and was put into an asylum for it by her own father because she saw him hiring a man to murder her mother. Then she received electro shock therapy which made her lose her memory and she went back to her ‘original happy personality’. Now compare that with Edward or Bella or Jacob. I think you see my point. (And the same could be said for Rosalie, Carlisle, the Volturi etc)

@@erikperhs_ People use this blank page thing to defend Bella, but it just doesn't work. She comes off as boring and as a lame protagonist for a movie. It's hard to root for Bella because the movies and books just made me really not care about her. It's annoying how codependent and desperate she is for Edward too. It feels more like an obsession than love.
I'd rather skin myself alive with a spoon than listen to how Jasper is a raging racist who fought for the confederate army.
It'a funny how Robert hated this role, because he had his own vision of the character but the director denied it and made it gringy.
Yes, but i think people confuse his "hate" He didn't exactly hate all the process of making the movies because he did enjoy filming them and the cast had great chemistry together, he has said it multiple times, but the fact that the producers didn't want to listen to him like Katherine hardwicke did, she even allowed him to put one of his songs in the first movie.

And I dont know how to describe it, but the vibe for me is so nostalgic, it reminds me of early 2000s soo much (even though its newer than that) I have Veronica Mars and Smallvile vibes, its like it transports me back to my childhood. born 2000 btw :D also my gf shames me for loving the series xD

I actually liked the fact that the highschoolers in Twilight seemed cringy and awkward. It just felt more real to me.
Teens in real life don't always deliver these clever funny lines. It's never that smooth in real lif as it is in the movies. But Twilight has teens having awkward pauses and spouting cringy lines which just feels believable. The later movies lost that, but the first had a really unique feel to it.

10 years or so, my wife laughed at me for watching this.. it was on cable one night.. and I just kept wanting to see what's next. few years later.. I walk in and she's watching.. I'm like ahhhh? LOL over the top and driven towards an audience, has good and bad bits.. but good.

Lol, I had a similar reaction to this franchise because even though I'm not a twilight fan, and I think that Edward and Jacob are kinda creepy I still wanted to know what was going to happen next.
I actually watched the movie before I read the book. And the first time I watched the movie I thought it was kinda slow and boring and didn't finish.
But after reading the book, I ended up really falling in love with the characters and I found I actually enjoyed the movie the second time around. It's kinda weird. Never went from being bored to liking a movie before.
The thing that most irks me about the people that hate on the fact that the twilight vampires "sparkle" is that they ignore the fact that they actually are FAR stronger than many other vampires from books and TV shows. Their skins "sparkle" because when the venom turns them their skins become hard like stone, so hard that the UV rays cant pass through and in turn they bounce off hence the "sparkle" they can also destroy any tipe of solid surface with their bare hands, stone, metal ect like its nothing, in the books Edward even tells bella that if he where to suddenly slip up his hands could accidentally crush her skull like mush without effort and kill her. Bullets do nothing to them, nor stakes, or silver or whatever cliché other vampires have, the only thing that can hurt them is fire and its very difficult to do so because unlike other vampires who blur when running, twilight vampires basically dissapear, that's how fast they are. 🔥 Btw, just subscribed!! ❤

@@scarlettsmoak8977 Exactly!!! they are like the top evolution of the vampire race if we where to put a label on them. They are practically indestructible. Also, if i am not wrong, unlike other vampires who die when they get their heads cut of like on every other TV show or books, twilight vampires or "cold ones" (which is their actual name) can be split appart limb by limb and still reconstruct themselves back together again hence why they have to be burned fast to prevent it from happening unlike in the movies which literally toned down most of the things they could actually do. That pissed me off badly. 🤦🏻♀️☝🏻

Don’t worry guys, the main controversy is the way of execution in the movies not to the source and lore.
One thing I miss from the books into the movies is to highlight the fact they can put themselves together after being ripped apart and thats why you need to burn them. To k*ll them 👌
People just don’t want to admit how much they loved these movies and got totally sucked in! It’s only after it was finished and those people got older that they looked for the cringe which they’d been happy to overlook before! I still rewatch them about once a year and still enjoy them!
Plus the books explained everything in way more detail and were so great and couldn’t possibly fit everything into a movie!
Now another generation is reading the books and then enjoying the movies lol
the books are just so addicting, there's something so simplistic about myers writing that makes it so EASY to be sucked in, and the book is a lot more in depth and got me feeling more involved in the universe

@@a.j.1819 I mostly agree with that... though I think the exception was Eclipse. A lot of the characters were a lot more horrible in the book than in the movie, where they toned own the toxicity a bit. Eclipse is a rare case where I actually preferred the movie versions of everyone.
I read the books as an adult (i was curious why they were so popular) and got just as interested, but i was always aware of how over the top and silly they were too, and wasn't totally obsessed. So i guess that's why my opinion of them hasn't changed
I love these movies. They are literally comedy gold. They’re so bad that they’re good. I love that you loved the first one. Now you understand why these movies are so entertaining to watch. I hope you watch the entire series!
dunno if someone else said this already, but yes twilight vampires are their own breed. The writer put a twist to every classic stereotype about vampires and invented many additional charasteristics for them. Anyway, it was great to see you have fun watching this. I hope you watch the others too so maybe your mind about being Team Edward could change ;)

I know a lot of people are very critical for Meyer non traditional take on vampires. I actually liked it. Firstly because she's actually doing her own world building rather than lazily cut and pasting the same cookie cutter vampire we've seen a million times.
Secondly, I think it actually makes more sense. Sparkling in the sun may be weird... but if you think about it, it makes more sense than bursting in a ball of flame and turning to ash. Why do other vampires just magically combust in sunlight? Why don't they have a reflection? Why can't they be invited in homes? Why do they hate garlic? None of these rules make sense in the first place, so I can't faulty Meyer for tossing them out.
People hate on it, but to me Twilight vamps overall are just better. They make more sense because they don't have all these weird convoluted rules and weakness thrown in just because every othre vampire in fiction has them.

Also, sparkling make even less sense then combusting in the sunlight (which they actualy DIDN´T for example in Stokers Dracula - he was just unable to use all of his powers during the day, but he could go out just fine).
And about that "no reflection in the mirror", that was based on old myths. Originaly mirrors were made using silver as a reflecting layer. And it was said that silver only reflect those living things that have soul (yeah, as I said, old myths). And since vampires don´t have soul (being basicaly living dead), they don´t have reflection.
Why would they sparkle? What evolution path led to this? At least with combusting you have the excuse that Sun is, after all, just huge nuclear reactor, and vampires for some reason can´t handle the radiation (ever got sunburn? that´s radiation burn, like those for example in Chernobyl got, just on much, much, much lesser scale. got a summer tan? that´s just your body franticaly trying to protect itself from the harmful rays. why do you think lots of sunbathing can cause skin cancer?), but sparkling? Why? Edward says vampires are the perfect predators. Ok, so, why have feature that basically screams to everybody "vampire here!"? THAT doesn´t make sense.

@@cptayne Though I don't agree the rest sucked, I do think there was something special about the first movie which was lost once Twilight went more mainstream.
The first one had a certain indy flick vibe which I think made it stand out. Everyone except the CUllens dressed more normal, and talked more normal. It didn't look and feel and sound like every other mainstream teen drama. And I think that made the first stand out.
Personally I felt the second movie was artistically the best, though in many ways the hardest to watch. But the third was the funnest popcorn flick, despite being one of the dumber ones. It was shallow, fast paced and for a Twilight movie action packed. But they all had their charm.
Definitely make this a series!!! Your reactions are priceless and it definitely gets more intense!

He started off as a wizard in Harry Potter.
He made like 40 movies after that, all amazing acting... I'm sure he redeemed himself a little earlier than you'd think lol😉

Pattinson is a very underrated actor. He does a lot of fun and unique roles which convey his amazing range as an actor. It's really a shame that people judge him solely on Twilight, because he's like a cameleon the way he can become a completely different character when he needs to. His range of accents and voices alone I think are deserving of credit.

Sameee, I pretty much grew up alongside Bella. First movie came out and they were in their junior year and so was I, New Moon they were seniors and so was I, Eclipse they graduated and so did I. This does have major nostalgic vibes since I was suuuper into Twilight in high school. A lot of my friends were too so we had a lot of fun. Good times. Funny thing is I was obsessed with Robert Pattinson back then, and now he's "cool" but I'm totally indifferent towards him.

Sadly, the next few movies lose the indie vibe (major budget increase) and the story gets weirder and weirder but they're still definitely entertaining and funny! And obviously you gotta watch them, too, now. You jumped into the rabbit hole so prepare to fall.

Vampire particulars tend to change from media to media. Generally they're undead and drink blood but the rest varies. Sunlight, being invited into homed etc. Creators seem to decide for themselves hahah. Did you ever watch Vampire Diaries? Assume not. That's lots of very beautiful people being various levels of supernatural for like 8 series or something 🤣🤣 they had special rings to protect them from the sun and had to be invited into people's homes to cross the threshold.

i think hating this movie is just a trend, everyone WAS obsessed with it when it came out. Obviously we were teens when we saw it so as adults we do now find parts cringe. But i still think those movies are really entertaining, and funny, and the OSTs are amazing, i love the blue tinted image when it’s about vampires and the golden one when it’s about the wolves. I don’t understand why people decided it was cool to hate on it, because now people watch it for the first time already hating it and they make fun of everything instead of just enjoying a new movie they have never watched. It’s sad. I’m glad you also had fun watching it!

to answer your question seb, no in other vampire fictions some vampire have different gift like mind reading. For example anne rices interview with the vampire, a great film btw, highly recommend. Those vampire have different gifts.
i'll never forget going to see the first movie with my mom. we went into it as a joke, but then new moon came out and we went to see that one too. soon, what started out as going to see these movies together as "jokes" and to laugh about, became a tradition for every single movie, until by the end of it, we realized we'd somehow gotten attached to the characters. i really don't think it's that cringe, looking back. i think it's more fun to call it cringe, than how cringe it actually is really lol

Twilight is a guilty pleasure, and guilty pleasures are okay. We all need them. And also if a guy ever said to me, in earnest, the things Edward says to Bella, I’d like to think I’d see all those red flags but I have a feeling I’d just be putty in that man’s hands. 😂

Stephenie Meyer is a Mormon, and this entire series is based on the Mormon philosophy that a couple is bonded for eternity.
If the romance was just a subplot to the volturi it would be much, much better

@@erikperhs_ He didn't say he didn't like the romance or it wasn't needed, he's saying that romance as subplot in this movies would be better, which I agree. They were too focused on the toxic love triangle while having interesting secondary characters and incredible villains in the background. Don't get me wrong, I like Twilight saga but the background with the Volturi, the Quileutes, Cullen's family past and Victoria to name a few, were waaay more interesting and they wasted it, and that's are facts.

I like romantic movies, so don't go assuming things on your own. What I'm saying is, having a more interesting background and secondary characters with more development than the main couple is always a problem cause the focus and potential are lost, especially in a romantic movie were the main couple are the principal route.

Twilight is a YA novel. Of course it was going to focus on a teenage girl in a love triangle. That's pretty much what they all do. If it was a horror novel, we probably would get more focus on the Volturi and the triangle would be the subplot.
But again, it's a YA novel and Meyers gave the teenage girl target audience what it wanted. 4 books and 5 movies later, Twilight is a cultural phenomenon that we're still talking about today, so you can't completely knock the end result. Meyers knew what she was doing.
@@yoshiithelizard2664 THe problem is the arguement that the secondary characters are more interesting is subjective. You might consider Jasper or Aro more interesting than Edward and that's fine. But you can't honestly say there weren't PLENTY of people that found Edward and Jacob interesting when the Twilight franchise took off.
Maybe the main characters didn't interest you because you simply weren't the target audience the book was primarily catering too. But objectively speaking, I do believe the Edward character did suceed in getting teenage girls interested in the franchise. Which was the point.
I've pieced together why Edward wanted to kill the rapists, because that's what he did in his past when he first became a vampire, killed rapists and murderers.
