From what I remember the producers considered replacing Taylor in the role of Jacob because they needed someone who looked the role of a muscular werewolf. He was determined to bulk up. I remember in an interview he talked about walking around with bags of cooked hamburgers (no bread), eating meat them constantly to keep his weight up and hours of working out to get ready for this movie

So apparently the filmmakers tried to avoid having much red throughout the whole film until that scene in Italy so that the red popped more, kinda cool ngl
The papercut bit at the start kinda offsets that as well.

people don't talk enough about that scene of Bella staring out of the window all depressed. the way it was done in the books was great. it was literally just blank pages with the months written on top. I was super impressed with the way they were able to capture that on screen!

Personally I don't think people give the casting of Bella enough credit to me compared to the books when I seen the first twilight she was the only believable character. Average awkward. The vamps are suppose to be these most beautiful things you ever seen and really the vamps aren't the best looking aside from like two of them maybe three
@@lindziodowd8609 i have seen debates before twilight became huge that bella might've been autistic or had some sort of social disability. so that was how i viewed bella. and as someone who also has awkward social skills, i felt the casting was great. the casting for just about everyone is actually pretty good. i wish people could realize that. these are some amazing actors and actresses and it's no wonder half of them ended up becoming big stars.
I full on sobbed throughthose pages!!! The books capture perfectly how intense love feels as a teen... and also the depression when your heart gets broken.

@@Rennies-World I heard that. He wanted a chance to prove he could do it and he did. I’m glad he was able to keep the role. I hate it when they just recast characters. It throws me off. I think Eclipse would’ve been much better for me if they hadn’t thrown in a new Victoria, when Victoria was basically the “Star” villain of that movie. I know there were reasons, but I still hated it
Fun fact: The whole film team thought the way Robert Pattison delivered the line "with great difficulty" during the fight in Rome was so hilarious that they never stopped teasing him about it. F ex, someone could ask some one else in the group "How did you" ... something, and the answer always came: "With great difficulty!" Every question that started with a "how" was answered with that line. 😂

The producers were actually talking about recasting Taylor Lautner as Jacob after the first movie, since they thought he wouldn’t be able to pull off the extreme body transformation that Jacob does in the books, so Taylor trained substantially to earn the role back. And I mean 👀 it paid off
Yes, but he hated buffing up, so he stopped after this series. Then he was asking 7M per picture and everyone said, uh… no! And he’s basically lost a promising career for wanting a paycheck as big as his ego. To be fair, that was most pushed by his Agency. Some days you just make bad choices, I guess.

Whenever the cast did interviews, everyone else was bashing it and talking about how it's beneath them.
But not Michael. No, instead he spent the whole time talking about how much he loves the fantasy genre and getting to work in it.
Neil Gaiman saw this and sent him some of his books, they met up over lunch, and they've been friends ever since.
So, you know. No matter how much you may hate the twilight series, something good DID come out of it.

The vampires in this series are basically living stone (rarely changing emotionally) so if they fall in love romantically the initial intensity never fades. That is why Edward would still love OAP human Bella the same as when they first met.
I love how in the “love triangle” Bella never even considered Jake as a romantic partner- she like briefly thinks that maybe she could be happy with him.
But realistically she goes- I want Edward and if I don’t have Edward I’ll just- die- then after that.. maybe Jacob I guess.
Jacob has strong "can't take no for an answer" vibes and I definitely didn't notice it as much as a teen and I watch them now and it's like dude back the fck off
Exactly. It's even worse in the books. He hurts her when he assaults her during that forced kiss. And was pissed when she tried to fight him off.

Taylor was actually only 16 when they filmed this movie, so it’s super questionable everything that they made a child put his body through.

Someone's probably already mentioned it, but this is legitimately one of my fave parts of the New Moon book: that sequence with October - November - December is done really, really well in the book. It's literally just pages with the months on them and no content. I remember when (teenage) me read that, I was initially very confused (print mistake???) and then when I realized I was super impressed 😂 I don't really vibe with New Moon otherwise, but I do remember loving that in the book!
I agree they did that so well!! I also remember reading that part as a teen and wondering what the point of it was. That shot was also perfect to show her depression, it feels like the rest of the world is just passing you by and you're just stuck on one place.

But also nowadays Twilight is considered a classic, when it comes to bad quality movies. But back then people tried to consider it as serious movie, when the whole series is just a total lunacy, based on Meyer's Mormon roots.

I'm afraid you need to watch the entire series (3 more). I remember going to see this one in the theater with a friend who is a Religion professor & an intellectual feminist. As we left the theater she laughed, "I'm so ashamed I enjoy this series!" And, you know... dumping on people's pleasures is uncool. It was fun & weirdly romantic-ish & there is plenty of eye candy to enjoy along the way. And there are many actors in it who are way better than the material they were given. Anyway, there is PLENTY more to cringe over, esp in the final movie. To truly say you've watched Twilight, you need to watch them all! :)

Charlie Bewley (the short vampire in the back of the lift) was in season 4 of TVD, playing a vampire hunter. Daniel Cudmore (the tall one) was in the X-Men films. He played Colossus, the man that turned into steel.
OH and forgot to add that Cameron Bright (Jane's brother) was in X-Men: The Last Stand. He played the kid that suppresses the mutant's abilities, the one they were using for "the cure".
i live, breathe, sleep for the twilight saga and new moon is absolutely my favorite. the cinematography, the music, the plot, the color theory….just amazing

So I know a lot of people are going to explain this. Jacob’s people are not werewolves. They are technically shape shifters; people are have the ability to change into an animal. True werewolves are known as children of the night for they can only transform on a full moon at night. Shapeshifters can change whenever. I think reasons why they wear only shorts because they’re easier to put on in my opinion because once they transform their clothes rip off. Kind of similar to when Bruce turns into the Hulk. But I digress. Jane has the power to create illusions of pain. Reasons why their powers don’t work on Bella will be explained in the later films. 🦇🐺🌕
Reading it, it was like damn omg Edward is leaving this is devastating and then in the film she just does this weird forced curl into a ball here and it's like what even is this 😂. I think in the book (weirdly i just pulled this from my memory) Jacob and Bella had an ongoing thing about their age and like adding and taking away years based on certain factors. The months in the books was quite clever too it was like 4 blank pages just with the month written in them. Once again the soundtrack slaps. My friends and I continue to have an ongoing joke about one of them. Good memories with these films man.
Only diehard fans of the books, myself included, had a problem with these when they came out. With time it's less offensive 😊, but in the moment it was a travesty. 😅😂
Not true. I know plenty of people (myself included) that hated the books and still hated the movies, although definitely the latter more than the former.

I think the only one of these I actually liked was the last one with all the vampire powers and the battle, lol. A supernatural love triangle as told by a Mormon woman... a hot damn mess but cheesily entertaining, I guess. I can't even talk shit about the sparkly vampires b/c one of my favorite vampire movies, The Lost Boys, had glitter on theirs and even in their blood, so... lol.
Saw the last one in theaters without knowing how the books went. I got so invested with each of the wolves and whatnot, and, much to the embarrassment of my then boyfriend, burst into sobbing tears. 😭
I was inconsolable. Even after we left the theater I was shuffling, and he had to take me home instead of to the restaurant. Poor guy. 🤣
@@LS13. I'm very open to all forms of fantasy and such, so I give things a try. Have seen the whole of TVD and I liked it, but I enjoyed The Originals far more. My fave character in TVD was Bonnie & they kept doing her dirty so just kept getting more and more on my nerves, lol.

So the story of Jane (and her brother) is actually really tragic. They were outcasts of their village. The villagers tied them to a pole and lit the ground on fire so they'd burn alive, but the head vampire saved them as they were burning and they got revenge. Because of the trama Jane can make anyone feel a crazy burning sensation over their entire body in an instant and her brother has smoke that takes away all senses so the enemy cannot fight back or run.
The horrific nightmares she experienced is what I live with most nights. They are terrifying and there is no way to escape them for me, I can't wake myself up from them
You should consider doing The Vampire Diaries/ The Original’s tv show reactions. I’d for sure pay to see you do that.

Jacob helped to bring her out of her shell, and showed her how to experience the best her life had to offer. Unfortunately, the movies cut out SO MUCH of Bella/Jacob's time together! It's truly sad how much they removed of his story! 😢

This one might be my least favorite in the "Twilight" movie series. And even though I've always been a Team Edward girl, Taylor Lautner looks pretty darn good in this movie and the next one.
The reason why Edward wasn't in this movie as much is because I think this was when Robert Pattinson was filming the movie "Remember Me"(great movie. Highly recommend it).
I've always loved the Italy location that Kristen, Rob, and Ashley Greene(Alice) filmed the exterior Volterra scenes at.
Definitely looking forward to the "Eclipse" reaction. That one is probably my 3rd favorite in the series.

I never though Jacob was the better choice because of the whole imprinting thing. That's probably more a discussion for the later movies, but I think the lessen we learn from Leah is to NOT date a wolf who hasn't imprinted on you. It's just asking for heart arche.

If Bella doesn't see a problem with her potential love interest imprinting on someone else, she's got a right to her own opinion of course. I'm just giving my 2 cents. I don't want to talk about imprinting too much since it's not in this movie, but if I were in her shoes I've avoid getting involved with an unimprinted wolf. Seems like a real bad idea. Ngl I still have a soft spot for the Twilight Saga despite some of the cringey moments and dialogue but these movies have a lot of the kind of drama that I can stand so it's very much bearable to watch,the action scenes on the other hand are some of my absolute favourite moments in all the twilight films 👏
