I was wondering what the piece was in my wifes watch. 4:24 Now I know it was a part that broke from the touch screen. Only invested $10 for a battery so I'll be just buying a new watch. Too hard to replace the touch screen here. Thanks for the detail. The only video explaining what it was.
@@RestoreTechnique So, interestingly enough, I can probably fix that BGA package. I have a technique for recovering and repackaging BGA silicon. I can "delid" this BGA with acid, remount the silicon in a new BGA package and rewire it under a microscope. I can then relid it with a reversable epoxy.
I replaced once the battery of an AW 1 too. Did the job perfectly. But after I put everything back (including a new battery and gaskets) the AW did not come alive again. Ever. My colleague decided to buy a new one.
You're an absolute masochist! I believe that is correct about the screen pairing. It's been a few years so dont remember for sure but I used to be trained by apple for repairs and have the apple training cert and I believe that is correct. For iPhones you need to "calibrate" after replacing the screen to get touch id / face id working again
Apple has dumped tens of thousands of hours into making absolutely sure that their products are engineered to be as unrepairable as possible. I work for a cell phone repair shop that has sadly joined the IRP for Apple. The process takes so long to check in the repair and calibrate it. I can do most of the repairs in less time than it takes to do the "Apple required" check in and calibration (serialization). It's beyond frustrating.
great video, although you could have bough a screen/digitiser combo and replaced the whole thing. I did the same on my Apple Watch S0 without issues. The part was roughly £30 so wasn't worth separating the digitiser
Yeah I had read that some users had similar problems with a screen/digitiser combo, so wasn't guaranteed. Also was trying to keep the cost down to make it worth the repair for my friend.
Hello there. May I ask you for some advice? I have an Apple watch series 1 and I stuck on "erase all content" screen every time I put it on charger. I think that the side button is stuck and it is pressed all the time. Do you know this issue and may you have any advice for how to fix it? Thank you!
Oh sorry didn't see your comment. I would put a couple of drops of Isopropyl Alcohol on the side button, and press it in repeatedly. The alcohol should loosen any gunk that may be causing the button to malfunction.
Please do not record any more movies with 100% no comment, because your movies with your teacher are so nice to watch. Anyway, that's how you keep the content. Don't change
I like having some of the videos with no talking. They're very relaxing and I can concentrate on watching his actions. Other people have said the same thing. I think he should do both, the talking ones are good too.
hahah, I love your films man - it's a subject that interests me a lot but you also never fail to make me laugh. I've told you before but you know, algorhythms innit?🙂. In your opinion, do you think that all the ribbon cable breakages were a consequence of the swollen battery?
Thanks John ☺️ When the screen popped off, it was kinda hanging out of the watch, like an eyeball hanging out of its socket. So I believe that's what tore the cables.
@@RestoreTechnique Thanks for the reply Josh. I watched 5 minutes at lunch when I commented but now I've finished animating for the day I watched the whole thing. Man oh man so many obstacles! I've sometimes dallied with the idea of owning an apple watch but I find how repair unfriendly this is and how the whole thing has been essentially destroyed just by the battery wearing out massively offputting! Despite your repair ultimately being unsuccessful it was still a very interesting and entertaining video - as always.
1:15 "The cause of the touchscreen not working" LOL! That's a symptom of an amateur attempting to open an Watch. So yes, that will definitely render your digitizer useless, but I can guarantee there's another issue that you'll need to fix as someone already attempted to perform a self repair and made it worse.
My friend gave me no indication that a repair had previously been attempted, so I assumed that the flex just tore from the screen hanging off the watch
Turns out I was wrong. Apple Watch Series 1 was not the "original Apple watch" 😣

No worries 👍
Good effort, can't say you didn't try. Annoying when we hit those artificial obstacles.
Thanks for the video, very relaxing to watch you work.
Bro I'm from India
I'm seriously glad
Your work is so inspiredable
I must say you do some of the best work I've seen. Truly an inspiration.
I think this was the hardest repair ever on this channel only because of the size and tight placing components.
Yeah probably

Damn, if things from only 6 years ago are now "vintage" according to Apple, then that makes me an old man. XP
😄👴
I like how he calls swollen batteries "puffy boys"
😄
Spicy pillows
@@tehunishow That too 🔥

you couldve tried a whole new display assembly!! ive fixed these a lot, give it a try and let us know what happens

I just tried this cuz I also had a puffy boy.
I messed up the screen thin cable.
So the new battery works fine!!
But the screen won’t turned on.
Great effort you can’t say you didn’t try. Keep it up!
Cheers bro
Great narrations, made me chuckle while replacing my series 1 screen glue 😂
I'm honestly inspired by your work! I'm so glad I found your channel!
the series 1 is not the original apple watch, is de second model, the first is the "series 0"
Yeah someone else mentioned that too. I didn't realise 😔
Your Amazing at your job!! I have a really messed up iPhone 13 mini would you help me fix it for a interesting video

Thanks for the info!
You need WRT diagnostic cable in order to go in purple mode and restore the watch
If i need my Galaxy watch 5 pro fixed i'm sending it to you. Cause NOPE not going to try it myself lmao.
High skills, you have!
I just discovered your videos! You're doing a really good job! Please continue! 👍
Thanks dude
Great video. More videos like this and the modded iphone would be awesome
Good work my friend, good work
Bro I think it's serial number problem, TH-camrs do some programming to new screens.
Yes you are right
@@RestoreTechnique are you ganna make a new video on the watch after programming it?
anyway I enjoy so much to watch this!
Enjoyed the video mate! Some things are just out of our hands. So frustrating that 🍎 decided to make repairs so hard. Cheers man!
Thanks mate ✌️

bro appreciate the time and effort you put to repair the watch / make this video
i love your content bro please be more consistent
Loved the video.
Yay thanks
Just buy a new lcd with a digitiser already on it. They're very very cheap aswell. That's what I did and it worked perfectly fine

Unlucky, but it's definitely Apples fault not yours. They just keep producing unfixible things( good job anyway
Now try to do a NDS ribbon cable like that without it shriveling up from heat lol
Fyi, original apple watch is not the same as the apple watch series 1
This repair is plain pain in the ass! What an anti-repair engineering!
I tought i didn’t sub, but for those who are confused, he is the same guy that has made a usb-c iPhone, but he changed his channel name (?)

Buy a new apple watch. Why ppl still using old tech?
If it still meets the needs of the user, why waste money, and add to landfill.
apples plan worked.he bought a new one. they dont want people repairing their devices thats why i cant live in apples ecosystem
Can you make silent videos again?
