I used to work on one of these when I worked for Mercedes UK, one of our customers had one. It Is without a doubt the most intimidating cars I’ve ever driven (and I’ve driven a lot of fast cars with way more power that a xj220)cold damp tarmac, big fat wide cold tyres, no traction aids no power steering no servo assist brakes, can’t see much outside because you sit so low down, my all time favourite car and a real honour to work on one.
I wished they built the V12 version that was originally going to be built and ALOT of preorder people put deposits down only to learn it was going to be a V6 twin turbo. Most of those preorder people backed out.
@@jgonzalesm6 the V12 version of the XJ220, or the V12 version of the CX-75? because that quad yasa motor and micro turbine hybrid setup with the then-new V12 they never ended up building iirc, would've been like nothing before it and nothing we have today. If anyone has a broken xj220 they'd like to sell or donate, I've got a running jag v12 in an xjs that needs "building" 😂

The colour is flawless and you sharing your journey it warms my heart. I still think jaguar should replace all their engines today with LS im British but will say the LS is the greatest engine ever built IMO. Again sir THANK YOU. There used to be a guy in Cheltenham in the uk who would use one every day and call into the pub for a drink incredible presence on the street a real treat to see . Bless he’s no longer with us , great man
Cars from ymthe 90s and before are way more exiting to see than modern lambos etc are common as dog shit today. Seeing anbxj220 mclaren f1 or f40 etc you get away better buzz from seeing one.
I've always thought these 220's would lend themselves well to a few mods, given technology gains in ECU's, Turbochargers, since these things were made. Good on you guys for going ahead and doing it.
Never thought I’d see a video of one on a dyno in 2024, let alone being tuned and modified. I was lucky enough to see one in person in Las Vegas. Very special car. Jay Leno has a great video on one as well.

I had a metal Model that was close to 18.5 inches long, the exact same color as this car shown. The Jaguar XJ220 is my treasured dream. Much respect, & Thank You for sharing. To actually see one driven stateside and that it’s very rare car is astounding

An XJ220 One of the best cars almost nobody talks about, sure it has a v6 when it’s supposed to have a v12. But it’s a great looking car and sounds amazing. Then there’s the XJ220s TWR. What the hell were they thinking. I want one now!!!
MG 6r4 engine! Oddfire 90 degree V6, incredible sound. The Maserati Merak and Buick ‘fireball’ were essentially the same sound but 2 valves per cyl. As a side note, Maserati in the early 70s built maybe a dozen 4v versions of that engine where it performed and won its class at Lemans ‘74. Made fabulous power at 10,000rpm, around 400hp.
@@omd_sd not around the twisty bits they aren't. In a straight line yes. F40's drive like go carts, Jag 220's drive like earlier Lambos and require monumental effort to drive quickly on the bendy bits.
For such a svelte looking car it tickles me to see so many parts taken straight from the parts bin 😂 Growing up in Coventry the Jag plant was literally next door to me ☺️
Take note boys of this dyno tuner actually doing his job. Part throttle on off throttle tuning makes sure you have a good tune everywhere. Not just at wide open
I remember my mum taking me to the Jag garage as a kid to see one of these in the show room. Think I was about 8 at the time. Blew me away with the size of it and actually seeing a car like that up close.
Still remember watching Tiff Needell testing this car in old Top Gear...and I always felt mesmerized and hypnotized by the example being built at the factory in this exact same color combination, I think. Outstanding!
It's a Rover Engine that was also in the SD1 Touring Car & was Also in the Metro 6r4 Rally Group Car. The Rear Lights are off a Rover 800 Vittesse. I've only ever seen an XJ220 once as a child, it was enough to knock the Ferrari F40 off top spot. The XJ220 poster went on the wall 😁
What a car! ive a 1/12th Maisto diecast of this car, was my boyhood car poster on my wall, along with the F40 and Countach, but given the choice it would be the Jag, Ferrari & then Lamborghini.

Absolutely stunning example. These cars have aged extremely well and have really come into the own the last few years. Every bit as special as an F40, 959 etc. Very under appreciated!
By far, the best aging vehicle of all time. To think this was made early/mid 90s is mind boggling because i think it looks more modern that a bunch of the cars that come out now. Jaguar designers knew what they were doing back then with the xj220.
I enjoyed my time with my XJ220 which i believe was car nbr 242... just the non servo brakes at crawling speeds were scary.Otherwise stable at speed managed about 185mph on the motorway and it was very stable.A sports exhaust made all the difference.
I was driving around river oaks houston at night coming from a tennis tournament, and out parked on the street was a silver xj220. I couldn't believe my eyes! I went back and took pictures and admired it. Never seen one in person, only in Gran Turismo.
thats really what it needed power-wise as that chassis is just absurdly overbuilt. Now it has McLaren F1 type power. I do think it weighs 500 lbs more though so would need roughly 680hp to equal its strait line punch, but then again turbos do make for high trap speeds!

Transient Throttle tuning is one of the hardest to nail and the most important to make the car drive well!

Make sure its got the correct parts and wack that boost up. That engine in the 6R4 in Rallyecross did 750 all day.
