I’ve owned my M5 since 2012, changed the bearings and throttle actuators, had no other problems.
Smg pumps don’t fail, the motor driving the pump can, change the motor.
Incredible car, buy a good one that’s had the work done and frequently serviced and it’ll be the best car you’ve ever had.
And remember, the engine was a clean sheet design, designed by the m division for the M5 so it isn’t just a reworked 540i or 550i like the e39,f10 and f90 so it’s more of an M5 than them.

I owned a V10 E60 M5 with full exhaust and rims, carbon body kit... it sounded AMAZING. It was pretty quick but it was HORRIBLE on gas mileage compared to my V10 Audi R8. The motors are known for blowing up with no warning. Sold it without losing a penny in less than a year :)

    • @j.thomas7128

No warning? You have 80,000 miles to replace the timing guides... that's a rather long warning

    • @CrazyCowboyBuilds
      @CrazyCowboyBuilds ปีที่แล้ว

@@j.thomas7128 not the timing guides. The main bearings fail. You get no warning that there’s a bunch of metal eating your block and piston walls usually until it fails (while driving) and then it’s too late. If you’re really lucky you can use a magnet and check your oil with overly frequent oil changes - or spend a lot up front to tear it down and have them replaced with better parts. Not worth it to me. Loved the car but not worth it when there’s so many other cars to still experience

One of my favorite cars I ever owned was a 97 Mitsubish Mirage. It didn't have much power, but it was a fun car to drive. When I heard Mitsubishi was bringing it back I got excited, but then I saw what they were bringing it back as. Looking at what Mitsubishi has been doing over the past 15 years, it's no wonder that they are struggling. They are going to end up selling to someone, and that new owner is going to turn around and bring back the Lancer, and make their other cars more exciting. They are going to do what the people who currently run Mitsubishi are to afraid to do.
Before anyone comes in and says "97 mirage was shit!!". I'm going to be honest and say I'm biased, cause it was one of my first cars. I had a damn good set a tires on it, and comfortably took turns a lot faster than I have in any other car. I've had a lot of other cars since that Mirage, but it hasn't been till I got my Mustang GT that I've been in another car I'm able to drive as confidently.

@@flat6gamingyt643 Really! I beg to differ.
I had 6 used jags before my Aston V8 vantage and the only one that ever let me down was an XJS that snapped a throttle cable, both my XKR's (x100 & x150) gave me 3 years each and 20k+ miles of trouble free motoring. Oh and the used CLK 500 vert I bought for the Mrs gave her 50k miles of trouble free motoring.

I’ve had a used Jeep Renegade for 1 year. It had motor recalled and had to be replaced. Within 6-9mo that motor just blew on me… it’s back at dealer being replaced. Motor = 7k. I paid 13k for truck. Two motors = 14k (luckily under warranty) or would of costed more than paid for vehicle. It has other issues as well. Electronics. Not to mention slow! Stay far far away from 16’ Jeep Renegade

Big bad ass muscle car? My first car was a 1967 Oldsmobile 442 convertible. A bad ass muscle car if there ever was one and was street raced often, and broke even more often. Everything broke on that car and I do mean EVERYTHING! It had a giant 400 cubic inch iron engine that put out 350 hp stock in a 4,400 lb car. It also ate a starter every three months. I added everything I could add and got another 50 hp out of it. It was never beat in a street race. By anything! Even trooper cars with 440 Hemi's couldn't touch it. It's weight to hp ratio was 11 lbs per hp. (lower is better, remember this number) This was in the early 1970's.
Fast forward to today 50 years later: Today I have a 2018 Dodge Charger with an all aluminum 220 cubic inch variable timing dual overhead cam V-6. A 3.6 liter Pentastar that's roughly half the size and 1/3rd the weight of that 400. And it puts out 309 hp stock in a 4,200 lb car. But, and here's the difference: The Pentastar is so beefy inside, I added a supercharger to it. Something you couldn't do with the Oldsmobile at all, and now it puts out over 600 hp and makes that 442 look like a Ford Pinto. Out of a V-6 engine that gets over 40 mpg on the Interstate; vs 8 mpg for the 442, really. And there's "room" for 100 more ponies with the V-6. The only thing I had to add was hardened stud and nut head bolts. With over 15k on the supercharger so far, the engine still doesn't use any oil. And I don't ever expect it too. All of this in an AWD package, and a police cruiser chassis. Because it's AWD it handles just like a sports car, something the 442 knew nothing about. And it'll blow off a Hellcat. That's my daily driver. It's weight to hp ratio is 7 lbs per hp. (almost half the weight per hp than the 442)
My toy car is a 2002 Chrysler Prowler with an overhead cam all aluminum 3.5 V-6 and it puts out almost 300 hp in a car that weighs exactly half that of the 442 at 2,200 lbs stock. It's hp to weight ratio is 7.3 lbs per hp with NO supercharger. Another car that makes the 442 look like a Pinto, and we haven't even mentioned a new aluminum V-8 Hemi yet. LOL
Old iron is exactly that, more suited as a boat anchor than an actual car. And they were rust bucket rot boxes, ALL OF THEM! If you drove them long enough, they would actually become boat anchors. After 4 Buffalo Winters, the Charger's bolt heads are still shiny underneath and I've never had one problem with it, supercharged or not. We won't even get into the 11 air bags. Even the head rests have airbags. Absolutely no comparison. I had opportunity to buy a vintage 1967 442 convertible the same exact color as my old one last year and I wouldn't even get in it. Why? Because I was afraid of it. I was afraid it would break down before the test ride was over. And chances are very good the old POS would. And I'd be stuck fixing it at the side of the road. Somebody else's car. You couldn't GIVE me an old muscle car. Hoovie got an actual Superbird and what did he do with it? GOT RID OF IT. I think he drove it twice. You couldn't give me one. I don't care what it's worth. Thank me very much.

Mitsubishi Mirage - Big Daddy Doug also pointed out why this car is very much needed; and who it's for. Despite all the bashing he did, in the end he understood why it exists.
Ford Pinto - Fun Fact: An engineer at Ford brought the issue to the attention of Ford executives while the Pinto was nearing the end development. He also came up with an extremely cheap fix that would have cost them just a few cents on each Pinto. However, the accountants at Ford crunched the numbers and told the executives that it would be less expensive to pay out settlements in wrongful death lawsuits by families of the car's drivers, than to spend literally a few cents on each Pinto; to fix the problem. _This is one of two reasons why I will NEVER buy another Ford vehicle for the rest of my life!_

I am not agree with the Chrysler Sebring handling being slappy. I took a stock 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible slamming it @ 65mph (in the apex) in exit sharp curve with a suggested speed of 25mph. The tires didn't scream at all. The Chrysler Sebring convertible handling very good for a car of that size.

But everyone I’ve ever talked to about that suv has said the same thing…they’re money pits.

If you just looking for basic transportation that gets good fuel economy and is cheap as hell, it's an option.
As far as the RX8, it's kind of a gray area because it's unreliability is baked into the design, therefore it's actually a very reliable car.
