Apple just released iOS 17.2 for the iPhone, and this is the biggest update for iOS 17 yet! This update includes the long-awaited Journal application, new changes for Apple Music, Keyboard changes, the ability to change default notification sounds, Spatial Video recording, and much more!

I really hope they add a calendar view for the journal app as well as the option to have different journals for different things. I tried two different journal apps before and they both did that as well as a map to sort by location and the possibilities to add tags to the entries and I really liked those features!

Yes. I generally use Obsidian for my note taking and journaling. The calendar view and the ability to click on the date to add a new entry is very useful

Agree been waiting for this option, finally can change to some other sound instead of that low default sound that was on before. I changed mine back to tretone as it used to be.

The Journal app looks interesting for keeping track of daily thoughts and activities. I'm excited about the improved Face ID setup and the better focusing on the camera. The enhanced Siri features for health data and the revamped weather widgets are a nice touch too
i love the journal app! i dont need to download diary apps anymore. i just wish it could have more features though like being able to stamp time when you want to insert a new thought or entry on the same day, also being able to change the font size or font.

I think the journal app is a good idea. I’ve been writing in it every day and like the different topics to write about. I’m into journalling anyway so this will help keep me motivated.

I like the default notification update. Only thing I hope for is the ability to customize different apps with different notification sounds.

I really hope they bring scrubbing back for the native video player. It was super useful, specially because I watch youtube using my browser. Also I never understood why they never included a button for locking/unlocking the screen rotation in the video player. I catch myself having to use control center a lot when using the video player for that button specifically, would make it so much easier to just have it right there.
It’s really not hard to go into control center.

I like rebound, I think it sounds great. I don’t need to let the whole world know I’m getting notifications.
I think Journal is a great app. I’m just hoping more “journals” or tabs will be added so we can have separate entries for different things. Like I want to journal my emotions and about things going on and also journal for Church / Bible reading. Some people enjoy dream journals and such like that. App is able to do these, but would be nice to keep things separate for better navigating.
Eh, a Church/Bible thing is a bit too specific and not many people will be using it.
Maybe if you could make your own tags or AI would decide what tabs to show based with on device intelligence

a dream journal tab would be really cool
I would like to write journals for some days back, e.g. a trip in this summer, but the prompts and suggestion do not follow up! too bad!

Can you remove options in the messages + list? I don’t need so many and haven’t found a way to remove apps from that list. Also, they need to bring contacts into that list!! 😊
We need to be able to change the default sound on watchOS… in my family if one persons watch goes off everyone looks to their wrist.

i wanted the ringer that comes on the cellular watch without having to buy the cellular watch lol
macOS lacks this option (and many other things iOS has).
sometimes I get confused thinking its my Apple Watch when it actually isn't.

Wow what an update, usually I just skim through these videos as most things aren't interesting or relevant to me but here I basically didn't skip anything. Solid update Apple.
For marketing purposes, spatial video should be made available on all Pro models starting with the iPhone 12 Pro. Such a strategy could serve as a compelling advertisement for the Vision Pro, encouraging users to start recording with their current iPhones *RIGHT NOW*. Moreover, with libraries brimming with 3D videos, people would eagerly anticipate watching their memories on their new device.
It's only possible with the 15 pro series because they changed the camera alignment.
Edit: To clarify, spatial video uses the main and ultrawide camera's. Starting with the 15 pro series these are the left camera's with the ultrawide directly underneath the main camera, with the 11, 12, 13 and 14 the ultrawide is the single camera to the right. This layout makes it impossible.
You are unfortunately out of date. Apple wants you to spend another grand plus….

I've been a Samsung Galaxy user for several years. Now I have an iPhone 13 pro (iOS 17.1) and I can't help to compare the pictures between the two. The images of people in Samsung tend to look more pleasant. It seems like the angles and shadows from the iPhone's camera are a little off which makes a person look kinda odd specially during close ups. I've been getting the same observation from some of my friends and I'm disappointed that until now Apple hasn't done anything to resolve this. The adjustment button on both phones are helpful but Samsung's filters seem to help improve the images further than that of the iPhone's. I hope Apple tackles this issue on the next iOS update.

A lot of these features make it easier. With the safari UI I always hated navigating videos through that which is ridiculous. Those three dots were terrible. Screen airplay should’ve always been on top!
I don’t know if it’s a placebo but everything feels less stuttery on my 13. Apple Music feels smoother and snappier. So far so good!

They should upgrade the photo gallery app with new features such as increasing resolution/enhancer, erasing subjects just more adjustment tools. Android 14 one ui 6 had it. Why is Apple always behind??

This will be my third Update in 3 weeks for my fairly new IPhone 13 Pro Max Journal is a great idea so no small notebook needed !!!

So I ask Siri how many steps and log my weight etc and Siri still says I can’t help you with that you need to open your health app. Anyone else having this problem? And yes my phone is updated to 17.2
Yeah, I don't even see Siri in the Data Access & Devices section so I can't activate Siri.

Go to settings -> health -> data -> data access & device -> Siri -> access health data.

The "Show Predictions Inline" does not show on my device - this hasn't been showing since the official release of iOS 17 - I remember having it with the Public Beta.

Enjoyed your video. My main problem with Apple is the iPods. Everything is great about them but I can’t get them in my ears and feel safe from losing them. I have tried all the rubber pieces but they all work loose. Any ideas that might help? Thanks.

On the update page it said there was improvements for the action button and for camera. Do you know what has been improved regarding the camera?
Also my screen felt quite warm after updating, specifically on the left side of the screen and towards the top. Thought that was strange, never had this before like that, and on left side only.

Journal app was the first thing I removed.
I make journal entries. I write down things. Nothing beats writing with a pen on a paper!
If the new translate option for the action button is not shown, be sure to have the actual translate app downloaded. This happened to me and I was wondering for the missing action.
Do you reckon that in the next update that they will allow you to download from external sources in the EU or whether that’s already out
I freaking love this… the only thing about the music in settings is it doesn’t show the “Favorites” or whatever option… other than that I freakin love this so much!!!! I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max so I don’t have what the iPhone 15 does but that’s okay!
Wind speed on Weather Widget is an improvement, but lacks wind direction, which is must have for outdoor life.
Brandon, do you know if they fixed the issue wherein FaceTime call volumes drop when you start a SharePlay, sometimes even muting the person you’re speaking to? Please let me know.

Eversince updating, charging has been REALLY slow for me. I only get 25% added after an hour of charging. Hope they fix this issue.
everything updates perfectly fine, except for the app store. mine looks exactly as it did before, categories in the same place. it only looks like the new update in the Arcade tab.
I wish Apple Maps could be selected as default instead of Google maps when getting directions online.
