Spent many hours trying to remove a lock, understand the frustration the door owner must have felt. After watching your video took less than 1 minute to remove the lock, easy ! thank you so much
Great video, The amount of sanity you'll help others maintain is incalculable! Thanks for making the video.
Your video saved my life. Was wondering how I was going to remove unlocked barrels with no keys. I had no idea I could just snap them off like that, great tip and video. Thank you
Bill you are an absolute bloody legend! I started pulling my lock apart and got to exactly this point! Annoyed that I might spend the rest of my night searching for a solution. But Bill has the answer to all of lifes problems!
Thanks for the video! Perfect timing as I was doing this task today but didnt have enough gap between the body and the cylinder to get to the cam!
👍👍👍
@@billshowtohay, just wanted to know if that inner mechanism that was completely wrecked is easy to by as a part of the lock set or not?
Thanks mate, got it out before I thought about butchering the screen as I have the key but the handle lock buddy was already broken😅👍🏻‼️
Thank you so very much! You saved the day!
I had the key Bill, and the lock chamber would not unlock properly. I had to use this hack, used a wrench and a multi grip, abit of force and boom, it snapped right off. Your a legend , thanks so much.
Thank you so much! Worked perfectly - 2 shifters did the job too
Thanks so much, could not for the life me of get my mums old broken door cylinder out. Snapped it like in your video. Now to fit the new replacement.
I spent two days trying the other video ideas. I was thinking to buy a new door. I tried this tonight thinking im not strong enough to do your way. I just want to cry. Three tries and it broke off. Thank you.
You’re welcome 👍
Very different set up to what I normally face here in western Canada but found the video fascinating. Great job as always Bill.
Next time I visit Canada I’ll be sure to pay attention to how things are set up there👍
@@billshowto that’s part of the fun, seeing how different places do things. Construction principles are the same, but codes and products are amazingly different.
@@billshowto western canadians are nice fellas eh
Hopefully you'll never come across sh1te Australian hardware. Aussie window security usually consist of a wood dowel to prevent the window from sliding 😶
🎉ripper tip! Love this! TESTED AND APPROVED!
Wow. This saved me a lot of frustration and angst. Locked barrel, no keys and I thought I would have to cut apart with an angle grinder. Snapping worked brilliantly with no damage to door. New barrels readily available albeit now around $33.00 in Oz.
Get them from bunnings for $5-10👍
I can only imagine how many swear words were used by the person who first tried to release the lock.
Lol , agreed 👍👍👍
😂😂😂😂😂
Life saver mate. Cheers
Me again, I found an old tape measure and cut a strip from It about 3mm wide and was able to trip the cam. Many thanks.
Many thanks, I have the key and removed the cylinder screw . No damage and at least 20 years old.
It appears the cam won't release.
I believe the old lock is Lockwood and I have a Bunnings Rolltrak to replace. Contemplating snap vs locksmith.
Thanks for the wisdom!!! just popped a lock on a job I had no key for
Snapping the cylinder worked for me thanks
This was perfect, thanks
Did you try the key from the other side?😀
excellent tip. i was thinking grinder but you showed us an easier way! thank you
Thank you very much! Worked like a charm.
Good vid, but on some doors, like mine, you have to make sure the latch is full engaged, other wise, even with a key, the lock is still stuck. Once the mall snip is pressed and the latch fully extended (as if it was locking the door) you can use the key to turn the cam and get the lock out.
oh my gosh thank you! The lock was stuck, Cam was stuck, watched 20 videos on how to release the cam to the point of trying the snap off method, which I couldn't do as I have old hands, just didn't have the strength. Read your comment, hmm, I'll go check that and thank you that worked instantly. Now, off to Bunnings for a replacement handset
Brilliant video - thank you
Very clear explainations, even speak English as a 2nd language I followed the steps and removed everything! Thanks a looooot
I closed the glass door and the key snapped in the key hole
I wonder if there is a way to take the broken key out. Just wondering if I can avoid to go to Bunnings on Christmas Eve…😂
I found the key snapped video. Thanks
Hi Bill, you seem to make a video after I've done the bad guys thing and used a grinder.. too late now, but fixed Thanks mate I’ll keep this in my toolbox cheers 🤙🏼🇦🇺
Lol, there’s always next time 👍
@@billshowto yes there is mate thanks..
@@billshowto hopefully there won’t be.. lol 🤙🏼🇦🇺
I managed to use this method to remove a Whitco cylinder from a Lockwood lock 😀
They obviously didn’t read the instructions, thanks Bill
Life saver!!!!
👍
Thanks this will help me out
Thank you
Not me watching this after I spent the last couple of hours making a completely ridiculous mess out of my screen door 🤣 Pretty much drilled the lock into shrapnel and it still didn't come out. It was a pleasure snapping the damn thing in half
Can you break the lock if it stuck in the lock position? Our door will not open. Can you please help me with this????
hi bill,
Would you kindly show how to remove Jason window catcher ?
Appreciate it
Can you make a video showing how to replace track wheels on sliding screen door? 😊
Already on my channel 👍
Watching from HK
Welcome 👍
Thanks 💛

Great video but for the life of me I can't see the gap to lift the cam.
My issue is I was installing new one and the whole door is not locked by the top silver latch and it’s locked closed and the handle doesn’t release it. How do I fix this?? Please!!!!
If you email me a video of the issue I will try and help.
Hi Bill, I need to cut the screen door handle area to make it bigger to fit a new handle. What can I use?
Depends on how much larger it needs to be. Sometimes I need to make the area larger just for the screws and I use a larger drill bit. If you need to make the whole area larger there is specialized tools ( punch) for this. The area would generally be covered by the face plates so in theory it dosnt need to be pretty.
@@billshowto thanks. larger drill bit to shave is a good idea. Will give it a go.
Sounds like the kinda job I would do....
Ledgend! Was about to get a bigger hammer...
that damage looks like something i would have done :)
Lol👍
