    Oh man the headaches Trumpeter can give you! And you calm as a cucumber just carry on. I think you would be an excellent pal to just run ideas by when trying to solve my modelling issues. Thanks for the technique with shading the metal areas to give a nice subtle appearance.

    Having made several Airfix 1/48 Lightnings in the past with the same faults as Trumpeter it looks like the larger scale kit mouldings are a scaled up version, warts and all!

    truly amazing work youve done. i remember seeing on multiple kits that the under carriage doors on the leg is actually tilted so its paralel with the gear bay. reference also backs that up. anyways well done i actually want to do this kit my self now and follow your videos as i go! great model

    Greg, you have just the right balance of patience and skill to make these videos. pop. It's incredibly frustrating when decals misbehave for no apparent or predictable reason, but you handled it methodically. Many times, I have damaged my paint underneath decals that misbehaved when I tried to remove them.

    Looking at pictures and video of the main gear covers, that do look to be at an angle and not parallel to the fuselage. Love your work

    Hi Greg, get a Cricut or Silhouette cutter, you can make roundels and masks in seconds and also custom parts such as propellor and buckles

    Great job. When it comes to insignia I prefer to paint them on before I apply main color and leave them masked through painting stage. I don't even bother with decals.

    Lovely work! Sometimes it’s just easier to paint too. Binge watching all three videos and subscribed!
    Surprised you had such a reaction with Microsol though but I expect these new decals are a lot thinner. Microset may have been a bit gentler and if I recall correctly was my go-to. Or plain old white vinegar in various dilutions. Built the old Italieri Ju-52 years ago and that needed a lot of perseverance to get them bedded down on the corrugated surface.

    Greg, as always looking great.
    I don't want to upset you any more, but I have made this kit and forewarning, look out for the depth of the nose ring.

    Should have sprayed a black gloss base down first before the AK extreme metals.. would have made the metal pop even more.

    Hey Greg. Philip in New Zealand again! I've been trying to find the decal sets you show at the beginning of part 1. No luck! I'd always wanted to build a bare metal one of these but really like the grey version you showed. Can you let me know where you sourced those decal sets please (or even if you want to sell the ones you didn't use)? This is one of my favourite aircraft of all time. Remember seeing them do a storm climb at an air show when I was a kid. I've got both Trumpeter kits; the F.2A/F.6 and F.1A/F.3. I bought the ResKit resin engine sets and the Eduard interior & exterior PE sets. Hopefully I won't have the issues you got with your resin bits! I'm going to do gear-up, weapon-less and tank-less to show off the pure shape of the beast!

      Hannants in the UK is where I source them. After the build I was inundated with people wanting the decal sheets. Seeing as I wasn't going to build another 1/32 Lightning ever again, once was enough for me, I gave them away then. Sorry!

    very nice build, what color/paint did you use for the fuselage?

    • @GregsModels
      @GregsModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I can remember the base coat is AK's Xtreme Metal, White or matt Aluminium. Then certain areas are masked off and Mr Hobby's Metal Color is applied and burnished.

  • @gordonj498

    Lightning is looking great so far. Does the AK Xtreme metal colour not require a black undercoat?

    • @GregsModels
      @GregsModels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find AK's Xtreme Metal paint idiot-proof, usually, don't bother with any undercoat.

    what is the metallic paint you use? Watching the whole video I don't know
