I received my Mavic Pro and used DJI assistant 2 to upgrade the firmware on the controller and the Mavic Pro. After the firmware updated, I powered off the Mavic and installed my spare battery. The DJI assistant 2 indicated that it needed a firmware update so I updated the battery firmware. I hope this helps.
The manual says that you can not update the battery through the DJI assistant 2 (you need a separate updater) so you where probably just doing a firmware update to the Mavic again. A new update came out recently probably right after you did the first one. Strange coincidence but it sounds like what happened.
Hello sir, I purchased a used mavic pro drone and I can't charge the battery. I decided to purchased a new Dji battery online . Once I received it I tried charging the new battery and it doesn't charge also. Only 1 light blinks and stays on that single light for about an hour. At this moment I have 2 batteries giving me that issue, and there's no way I can update the firmware to maybe solve the battery issue. I've seen videos explaining the possibilities might be batteries enter a hibernation state after not been used for a long time. But I've tried charging them multiple times and no positive results. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Hi m8, I suspect the Mag Interference is from your Mains Lipo Charger on the bench.....Field coils in it....right next to the Quads RX perhaps....?...What a nice gadget...cant wait to see you fly it.....:)
Hi Dave, thanks for the reply, I think I saw that video that he put up! I will check his sight and look it up! Luckily for me both warnings happened while still on the ground and before take off! And the motors won’t even start don’t know what would happen if it failed while flying, terra ferma I guess!
Thanks for watching and that is an interesting point. Since I was powering on the Mavic to make this video I had to take the gimbal clip out. The reason is every time the Mavic is powered on it will initialize the gimbal but the clip restricts the initialization movements and could cause damage. So I will put the clip in when transporting the Mavic or when I put it away for storage. Don't worry if the gimbal is wiggling around on the vibration mount, that is normal. It's a good idea to make sure the corners of the gimbal mounting plate are under the rubber straps before flying.
Does the i-phone have to be plugged into threw the left side arm cable.. OR does the I-phone connect to the RC with wifi? What is the side wire for in the arm of the RC do?
The I-phone connects to the RC by the side cable for the most range. Or you can fly without the RC and control it from your phone with wifi but your range will be reduced considerably because you won't be using the long range Ocusync transmision.
THAT LITTLE CABLE , is a place to charge the RC and connect to the i-phone for the best distance for drone flight. . SECOND QUESTION?? The socket on the bottom, where I have seen an i-pad connected, can the i-phone be also connected there. . THIRD QUESTION? When the i-phone is plug in to the RC and both are turned on, does the DJI Go 4 app load automatically.
Yeah it's true. I put all three bats on the 4 port charger today and it charged the easy one first then the next easiest and finally the one that needed the most charging. That being said you might have been looking at a more advanced version in those videos.
+etab83 I ordered a charger off of amazon for mine, it'll charge the batteries all at the same time so weather you're charging 1 battery or 3 it still only takes around 50 mins which is faster than charging 1 with the dji wall charger. by the way. I'm not sure if you know this already or not but the dji car charger charges the much faster than the wall charger, the car charger charges at 6 amps and wall charger charges at 4 amp. Ends up charging about 20-30 mins faster.
Im always amazed when someone makes a video, that helps people know what to expect with their purchase...then I see a couple thumbs down. lol Especially a Good video, well done, thanks for the effort.
Thanks for the comment. I suspect the thumbs down may be a dislike of the product, vendor, or drones in general but I have no way of knowing if they don't comment.
Thanks for making the video. Very helpful to someone with a new Mavic. Where did you get that printed manual? Mine came with a tiny printed manual about 2 inches square.
My manual is 2.75 by 4.5 inches. I think it just looks bigger in the closeup from the camera. I had to use my 2x granny glasses just to read it. You can get the PDF version on DJI and print it bigger though.
That is the plan in the future. There is supposed to be an updater program according to the manual but it's not available. Perhaps if updates come along the GO 4 app will automatically detect them, not sure.
Good video and Yes my mavic (Bob) is no longer allowed to fly in the house. He trimmed one of her plants and broke a glass. So I understand the props off situation. lol. Any way I was told not to store the batteries at full charge for more than two days. Same with the controller. So I store them with two dots showing or about 50%. Also don't leave mavic and batteries in a hot car fully charged. It can damage the batteries quickly.
Does i-pad connect to the DJI apps on the internet like i-phone for sign-on and upgrades. How is the sign-on made to get full function with i-pad to the DJi apps..
I have heard, on you tube, that every time the battery in the drone is reinserted, you must sign in again to reactivate for the drone's full functions. Another reason for was to keep your flight log updated. . I wish there was a way to have some help me the first time. $1500 is a lot of money to trust in a software that has has difficulty in the past. . Person to person, pictures are best. Video is more geared for commercial use. Video camera settings are huge headache. . Do you have any advise?
My advice is to just wait until you get the drone and you will see it is very easy to use. Those stories you are hearing are very strange, I have no trouble with changing batteries nor having to reactivate.
Hello. Just got the Mavic yesterday and could not wait to get it home. After looking at your video and a few others came the time to take out the box and get started. My question to you is, First i am using a Galaxy S4 but about to get a new phone today. I connected the phone to the controller. And then turned on the controller, reached over and pressed the button on the mavic. The controller kept saying connecting, the Mavic went through it's paces and the program opened on the phone. Looking at the screen i was asked to select the drone i chose Mavic and it wanted me to sign in. On my laptop i created an account last night so when i tried to log into account, every time i touched log in i was able to see for a second the box for user name password and so on but then the screen went blank and took me back to home page. Any ideas?
Hi! Just updated my dji mavic pro today and it was my first time. The update was successful. But when i tried to update my two extra batteries, there was no warning about it, i put on the two batteries and seems nothing to be updated because upon laumching the dji go 4 app, there was no prompt that appeared. Waas that normal? Hope you can answer my little concern. Thanks!
I have never been able to update my batteries. Seems like that feature was never implemented by DJI from what I can tell. Sometimes batteries go into error if there is a botched mavic drone update and that is fixed by updating the mavic again like this guy did. th-cam.com/video/EU8WYKUXOaU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for posting, Just wondering can you charge a battery while it's in the drone through its micro usb jeck? allowing 2 battery's to be charged simultaneously. Thanks!
Be nice it that was true but I don't think so. The flight battery requires too much current to be charged from the USB port. However you can charge the controller that way.
Hello Dmerc, I'm Tank62 also I'm a new Mavic pilot, this is my first Dji quad, I'm jumping ship from Yuneec and Parrot. please don't get me wrong it's just there RD seem dead. But I like your presentation, you sound down to earth so thanks. If you don't mind is it ok to ask you for a helping hand if I need it?
Thanks for your reply, I started to setup today while I was at work...But couldn't get it to connect? I have a LG 8" tablet it is up to date. Also I have a HTC phone that I don't want to use.
My wife recommends leaving the props off while testing inside the house or I get in big trouble. After some of my other escapades I can understand her pov.
tnx for this video...i finally got the Mavic Pro here in Holland...and have updated the Mavic Pro and the Controller...and was looking how to update the battery....so after watching your video i know now ....thats its not there.. :) what i do not like after just 1 day use... every time you have to disconnect the mini usb port cable to the Smartphone to connect another mini usb to charge the controller....i think this is stupid because mini usb ports are very tiny and not very robust....when it is broken..than you have a lot of trouble...is it possible to charge it via the normal USB port ? also the Smartphone holder is not very good..my new Android Huawei P9 can only fit when i everytime have to remove the very nice rubber case... ! brrrr !! :)
Ok ...tnx ....the big USB port is only DATA and i have connected on that port a 10 inch Android ( 4.0 ...is maybe to old...but i cannot upgrade it to a higher firmware ) ) Tablet ...couple of years old with a Full-HD screen.....but the processor inside is not quick enough for Live streaming...720P or Full-HD....the screen freezes all the time.....with my new Huawei P9 also Android ( newest update to 7.0 ) no problem at all.....so maybe i gonna buy a faster Apple Mini IPAD4 for an extra screen.....The Mavic is flying outstanding and the camera up to 4K is also very good.....i have made a recording in Ultra-HD for my new LG-Ultra HD TV... wow !!! :)
Hi, as you’re talking Batteries I would like to know if you have heard of any problems with the Mavics Batteries? I had a problem about January time where I got a warning on my remote that I had a “ Battery cell Error” and should contact DJI ASAP, I did and they replaced it with new. And as of yesterday I now have another one telling me the same thing, it won’t fire up the motors and the same warning Battery Cell Error, I’m now into only eleven Months with this Mavic and the problem Battery has only been charged 8 times seems to have failed! I’m hoping I haven’t got a bad batch of inferiority quality Batteries and they will honour a 12 month warranty? That we have in the UK. Would love to hear your thoughts on this issue! Subbed of your Channel. Thanks
Thanks for the sub. Yes, I watched a video from Cruising Off Duty where he got a battery error while flying over a stream and the Mavic auto landed into the water. He had no control after the battery error and he lost is quad. DJI replaced the quad and the battery. I have three batteries and have not experienced this yet but I expect to see it some day as the batteries get older. You might look on the DJI forums post about the problem.
Bloody spell check!!! I meant that I watched all your videos from the Mavic again just now! I really like it. I can fly in very cool places and shoot videos. Most of those places I couldn't fly my planes!
just curious but what was your profession before you retired? If I had to guess from just judging your personality, it seems to me that you're a engineer of some sort.

Saviour, had the hardest time figuring out the charger. Couldn't find a good detailed video to help me out until I came across yours! Thank you!!!
That's wonderful, glad it helped!
mag interfence stand for magnetic inerferce any kind of matel or magnits will mess it up hope this help
good information ill keep that in mine for when i get one .....nice keep up the good work
Thanks for the comment!
no need to thank me ..your doing a good job so i am the one who must thank you
Quite informative thanks. So it seemed possible to update the fireware indoor.
I just bought a Mavic and had the same questions regarding charging the controller, no instructions included in the box. Thanks for the video!

I might have been that but I am thinking now it was the big magnet from the guitar amp under the bench.

hi i noticed you took out that plastic piece behind gimbal you should really keep it in when your not flying
Thanks for watching and that is an interesting point. Since I was powering on the Mavic to make this video I had to take the gimbal clip out. 2nd question yes, with a different cable.
3rd question yes if your Go 4 app is configured to launch automatically. Usually it is by default.
It's an unbelievable drone. I just got mine 7 days ago.
It's so easy to fly. Now I just have learn the best camera settings.
dmerc00 I've seen a lot of videos claiming that the 4 in one charger can charge all 4 at once. But when connected it only does one at a time?

Not that I know of unless you move a 100 miles while changing it.

The school of hard knocks and an angry wife, ey. Well at least Bob is ok, lol. Good idea about the batteries. I had not thought of that.
Does i-pad connect to the DJI apps on the internet like i-phone for

How is the sign-on made to get full function with i-pad to the DJi apps..
You only have to sign-in and activate once then you can fly without even having an internet connection so don't worry.
I have heard, on you tube, that every time the battery in the drone is reinserted, you must sign in again to reactivate for the drone's full functions. Another reason for was to keep your flight log updated.

Sounds like it logged you in automatically. You can press the Go Fly button on the DJI Go 4 app.
The controller keeps saying connecting, and the phone keeps closing.

Dave Merc Productions there was an update on batteries. But i could not find answer to my concern. Thanks anyway.
Where did you get the manual? Everything I have has microscopic sized writing.

Thanks for the video. Well explained.
Thanks for taking a look at my Mavic video.
hi I was curious to find out what type of phone you were using
It is kind of slow, LG Tribute 5.
@demrc00 I would be weary of firing up the motors and revving the throttle without props! You may burn em out!
My wife recommends leaving the props off while testing inside the house or I get in big trouble. After some of my other escapades I can understand her pov.

It will be worth it for all the fun you will have.
Bloody spell check!!! I meant that I watched all your videos from the Mavic again just now! I really like it. I can fly in very cool places and shoot videos. Most of those places I couldn't fly my planes!
Yes, I think it's going to be very handy for filming those hard to get shots where planes don't suite the conditions. Did you order direct from DJI?
I ordered from DJI as per your recommendations! I am looking forward to the Mavic!!
It's there yet?
U. Deek got his and flew it yesterday, Loves it!
Order from amazon. Make sure amazon is the seller. You’ll have more of a return period, and better customer service
Helpful tips. Tks.
helpful good tutorial
Great vid, goodnight mavic, lol
Good tips. Tks.
Your welcome, thanks for checking in.
just curious but what was your profession before you retired? If I had to guess from just judging your personality, it seems to me that you're a engineer of some sort.
I do have an engineering degree but mainly worked in IT. I also like filming or videography so my brain is kind of mix just like my channel.
fantástico
Yes, definitely fantástico
Why oh why does the rc remote charge the phone when connected?? don't want that, its dangerous!
I wonder that too. Perhaps to prevent the phone from going dead during a flight.
The port on the bottom center does not have the charging feature and I use that for my tablet.
The bottom port DOES charge too!! Well mine does. Might want to have another check.
Ok, I checked mine and you are correct. So the only work-around would be a cable with a disconnected voltage line.
Ive done that and the phone doesn't 'connect' to the Rc remote. Im using Samsung s7.
mavicpilots.com/threads/how-do-you-prevent-your-rc-from-charging-your-tablet.16821/

Juuuuust a weeeee bit jealous.....
They are small so I am sure you could find a little space in your RC room :-)
I thought this was a war story video
