    I have the M3P and have been doing a lot of panos with the 70mm, but duh, I didn't realize when doing the panos that you could have as much overlap as you demonstrated. (I have been trying to get each shot lined up perfectly) And I didn't know that Lr would take care of the exposure bracketing and stitching all in one fell swoop, so I learned a lot from you today!

    I’ve watched a few of your videos in the past and love your photography. Thanks for doing one that focuses on photography more. I am a landscape photographer and this drone has taken my photography to a whole new level. I can now go back to some favourite locations and get a whole new perspective not to mention getting to a spot that I could never get to physically.

    Amsolutly love my Mavic 3 both for video AND images. What I didn't know (and thank you) was when making my pano (which is my favourite end result with camera) is the ability to 'stitch' a number of images which are not necessarily on the same plane / level! Must try this on my next hike / photo shoot . Thanks for sharing...

    A great result Nigel with those focal length options. The end results (both photo and video) from this unit are excellent. I really enjoyed the last demonstration, where you had the camera locked on your position and you "dropped the drone down" where the background is discovered in the movement.

    1. What camera filters and brand have you used with this drone?
    2. Do you have experience with the Cine version and therefore would you recommend it?
    3. I understand thal all 3 cameras can now utilise Dlog-M. Do you use LUTs ....... any preferences?
    4. What is the average flight time for a battery? What quantity of batteries are necessary?
    5. Any recommended accessories for this drone?

    I have my Mavic 3 Pro shipping new. So when using that 70mm 12mp and shooting the multi row 5 bracket shot how many megapixels did it end up being?😊

    • @thomasmaughan4798
      @thomasmaughan4798 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can estimate. Suppose you have 50 percent overlap and you shoot three horizontal and three vertical. The middle row and the middle column is really just "glue" in this example; the image will be exactly twice the pixels horizontally and twice vertically, for 4x the number of pixels.
      I made a "Little Planet" with a series in a complete circle, tilt the lens, do it again, tilt the lens, do it again and finally one shot straight down.

  • @thomasmaughan4798
    @thomasmaughan4798 ปีที่แล้ว

    I made a "Little Planet" with a panoramic series in a complete circle, tilt the lens, do it again, tilt the lens, do it again and finally one shot straight down. Assemble it with Stereographic projection and you get a circular image with straight down in the middle. You can also unwrap it and have a wide image that represents the entire 360 degree circle (or any part of it).

I'm not sure how familiar you are with them but i'm trying to choose between the mavic 2 pro and the mavic 3 mini pro. It will mainly be used for photography as I'm going down to Antarctica for the winter. I'm leaning towards the 2 pro because of the larger sensor and presumably the better dynamic range. Hi Nigel, how do you find you cope with the regulations on a drone that size? That video was in the middle of nowhere, without any people in that I could see, so not a problem, do you find though that other areas where you could come into conflict with people you just dont' fly? I use a Mini 3 Pro, which avoids most of that nonsense, but I do have aspirations of moving up to an Air 3 or Mavic 3, but just a lttle concerned with the potential pitfalls. Cheers

    Any "just" hobbyists willing to comment? What do you use your high end drone for? How often? Do you take on trips? Do your friends and family even care about the video and photos your capture? I'm definitely not a pro so have never pulled the trigger on a purchase. Is this just pure hobby fun for you personally? Seems like a solitary hobby. Thanks for your work on this video. It's great. I've been a hobbyist photographer for 45 years since my first Kodak 110's.

    • @thomasmaughan4798
      @thomasmaughan4798 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Any hobbyists willing to comment?"
      It is an expensive hobby, one of several expensive hobbies that *sometimes* is useful in a commercial or at least not purely recreational mode; thus I have the Part 107 (USA) license.
      It is mostly for photography and quite often the viewership is very limited, sometimes only me. I shoot some events like Scouting events; also some construction photos for my employer. Employer also shoots photos using a drone but is not licensed for the purpose and that may eventually cause some problems.
      I also have rather a lot of camera gear and started out I think in the same 110 format and using a Omega D2 enlarger back in the day. Digital cameras especially cellphones pretty much eliminated photography as a profession except for the really high-end demanding stuff. Part of the problem is people are used to cellphone quality photographs and many simply have not seen a spectacular, correctly exposed and dramatically composed photograph.
      So I put out quite a few photographs for free in the hopes of elevating the public's sense of aesthetics and what is a good photo. Too many are made with super high contrast, overexposed, totally blown out highlights and no shadow detail; just black. People love it; including my daughter who took a class in high school. To me such photos are awful, not awe-ful.
      Then you see Ansel Adam's photo of the Teton Mountains with the Snake River s-curve in the foreground. Oh My Gosh; that one really sets the bar on composition and exposure.

    My first two thoughts were, how loud is the drone and how much did it cost? I have a love/hate relationship with drones. They produce great images you couldn't get otherwise but some I've heard are like an annoying giant buzzing insect. Then there's the price. That's one spendy piece of kit, especially if you want extra batteries. Don't get me wrong. For what you're doing the Mavic 3 Pro looks awesome and I certainly enjoy the videos you produce with it. However, for me anyway, I can't justify the cost. The Mini 3 on the other hand is doable price wise. Plus, having heard one fly recently, it is decently quiet.

      Definitely have to spend a lot of time planning and checking for saftey concerns. Its easy to overlook some things until something bad happens

    Everybody speaks so highly of this drone, and of course I am curious. But from the specs alone, I should still be good with my old Mavic 2 Zoom. You were using that one too, why should I upgrade ?

      Newer drones have less noise in dim or night shooting from larger more light gathering sensors. Sharpness with more detail shown also is better than your drone. Finally, video now has more options of slow motion speed.

    I wish DJI would FINALLY include bracketing option with the pano. They know that we want it, but they are simply ignoring us. There should be a setting in pano for bracketing!
    Do you see a real difference between the previous drone and this one? except for the extra lenses, just in terms of image quality.

      No real difference in image quality of the main camera no.

    Really enjoying the new range of content. There's only so much viewers can learn from walking into the woods and taking a photo of a tree, however enjoyable or inspiring that may be to watch.
    Have you considered a more behind-the-scenes look at one of your days in the field as opposed to the full cinematic B-roll and to-camera presentation pieces? I guess as a 1 (or 2) man band you're necessarily blurring the lines between a full film crew and a behind-the-scenes look, but it would be interesting to get a little more in-depth coverage of the planning, waiting, spontaneous reactions, not finding the conditions or compositions you were hoping for, getting up at 3am, scrambling up the side of a mountain, etc. The process isn't all stunning sunsets, magical forests and a gentle stroll across a ridgeline.

    My biggest problem with this drone is the camera sensor in the lenses. You can see quality difference between zoom and the main lens. All of them should have 20mp sensor.

      You could always buy a DJI Inspire. Top quality is top expensive.

    A bit jealous as you happen to get all the toys that technology can offer (photography). I hope photography will continue to be a great income source for the upcoming photographers. For amateurs like me, we spend money on travel, photo equipment and software, to just carry on in this journey. You should make a video on how monetising the photography can help in keeping up with the changing times, especially after looking at the burst of AI in this arena. Probably people need to know why we still need to take the photos at all. I expect a response on this, to say the least.

    In the EU it's not a game changer. Due to the EASA policy this drone is nearly unusable regarding 1:1 rule. Even with A2 license there too many restrictions so that you can never play out the qualities of this wonderful drone. I hope for an Mavic 4 with 24mm & 70mm under 900 grams in the C1 class.
