    I am deeply inspired by Nguan as a Sinagporean, his works make me feel about how beautiful Singapore actually is. Areas like this is so common that we Singaporeans sometimes just get so used to the beauty that we forget about it.

    As a Malaysian that very near with Singapore, the environment is not very different with Singapore too. Some places are very mundane and fell ‘cheap’ compare to big city like Tokyo, New York or other big city, but Nguan somehow able to make the place feel dreamy and nice. Nguan teach me to love all the little things that around us. Thanks Teo for the excellent explanation, love it🙌🏼

    Hi Teo! I'm a film photographer from Singapore and Nguan has consistently been one of my biggest inspirations. His photos are gorgeous and authentically showcases Singapore in a nostalgic and special way that is really hard to put into words. I'm so glad you took a closer look at his work

    The green bin is found under the void decks of HDB flats (apartments) in Singapore.
    His shots are exactly what you will see in and around Singapore. BTW I am a SINGAPOREAN.
    He really shows Singapore. The shots of people are "commonly" seen when you walk around the residential areas.

    Hi Teo! I too am an analog photographer from singapore. The image with the green bin is in fact a lift landing (we call it void decks) of a public housing flat! It is typical for many singapore housing blocks to have bins such as this one! Hope that gives you a different perspective of the image :)

    Wow what a great artist! I really love that picture of the person reading the newspaper at 5:43. Also a lot of these photos do have a really prominent pastel pink somewhere in the composition which is really cool and unifies a lot of the photos

      @teocrawford  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True! I unfortunately only thought of that after recording the video haha. But indeed he seems to shoot a lot of pink walls, doors and similar things🧐👌🏼

    I am currently learning photo editing in lightroom. I often wonder how photographer such as nguan or Daniel Cassion achieve their distinct consistent look from an editing standpoint. Looks like nguan shoots film to get this high key low contrast look on a sunny day? Or maybe I am wrong. I would love for you to corect me, Teo. Also, I would love if you can do a similar episode on Daniel.

    i love the way he look at people
    everyone in his work are look so pure and clean the way they are. I don't see the photographer's intention to make people look different. that's a thing that i really want to learn from him.
    and your video is really nice thank you for sharing your research!! (im not good at English so maybe my comment is little bit akward but please understand🥲
