This was a really good video. I love the deep dive you take into the meaning of “home” and how the idea of home isn’t always accompanied by positive thoughts and feelings. I’m also very fortunate to have grown up in a safe and loving home, but it wasn’t perfect and I feel like I need to photograph that now while I can still go back there
I've discovered your channel only a few days ago and I can't stop watching your content. I've fell in love with analogue photography when I bought my first Instax. It is something our generation (I am 20) never experienced. At first learning about film photography I was amazed by maths behind it. Iso, aperture and shutter speed and what all the combinations do to the photo, pushing/pulling film, reading light etc. But on your channel I see more from the depth of photography. Its meaning. The vast variety of topics. The possibilites, what one can capture and say with his photos. You got another subscriber. Thank you for making such videos, and I am looking forward for new ones.
Just stumbled upon this and am now inspired to take snap shots of my home. Even it it means our messes and our eternal laundry sofa 😅, I shall embrace it as a quirk.
I believe it's a great personal thing to be shooting! The present becomes memories in the future and it can feel bittersweet looking back on it. Like we chatted about Teo, as we move throughout our lives and into different stages, these memories are so sweet to revisit. Great video
I just recently started to film little stories at the house we moved to and the nature around it. Even tough we just moved, it already feels like home and capturing it makes me notice a lot of details I didn’t before. Also I think it’s a great exercise to create aesthetic content from a ordinary and simple setting. Great video on the topic!
7:50 , this sonder feeling you speak of, is a feeling I thought only I had. but to hear you speak of this particular feeling warms my heart. this topic really makes you consider the hearts and situation of other people, and to treat everyone you come across with respect and a general love, the way anyone would wanna be treated. im really loving the deep material your covering in these videos. keep it up teo.
Ohh no it's not just you!🤗 And yes I think it's a really good awareness to constantly remind ourselves of for the reasons you wrote. Aww great, I'm happy you're enjoying it - thank you!🙏🏼
i was just thinking about this when i saw for the first time how my porch door window was beautifully lit by the lights outside! made me wonder why i haven't documented my home yet. thanks for the inspirational video teo!
Being stuck at home during lockdown I became more observant of the spaces we dwell in. It made me appreciate the little elements that make up my home and the moments that existed and will exist here. And as I walk around my neighbourhood, and see people through their windows, it’s made me realise how vastly different peoples worlds are within their own spaces, even if they are just a house away. Home is such a compelling subject. I found this video very fascinating because the thoughts I had, found clarity in your words. Love the channel :)
great video on an important topic... i've more or less been photographing outside my home for a few years now, not really thinking about the concept of home, although the idea is one i've seriously considered in other contexts... this was enough to seriously move me in the direction of a more focused, dedicated approach, to start including documenting the inside of my house/room... so thanks :)
hey, I really enjoyed your video. it was really cool to see someone else try to capture the beauty and uniqueness of their home. I've been doing the same, and its been a challenge in certain areas to capture it the way I want to, but its also helped me grow as a photography in many ways.
Unlike you I never really felt at home anywhere in the world until I got my own flat two years ago, so thank you for acknowledging that not everyone has the privilege of living in a good home! But your video made me realize that I definitely don't take enough pictures of my home, it's nothing I ever really thought about even though it actually really makes sense :)
Ohh I'm sorry to read that, but all the more happy to know that you have managed to change the situation😍 I think you should 100% begin doing some home photography, because as you said, it's your first. Therefore I believe that it's very close to your heart and I'm certain your photography will reflect that🤗
Loved this video man. I often find myself rushing across the house to shoot an aspect of my home. I always wondered if other people did the same kind of thing. Also, what's your favorite film stock to shoot on when trying to capture those cozy at-home moments?
Thanks🤗 Hahah I can relate to that - sometimes the light is just perfect😅😂 I don't have anything particular, but intuitively I might tend to pick Kodak ColorPlus 200🤔
Nice combination of philosophy and photography. Like taking photos can be more than making wallpapers and is just another way of communicating about the all kinds of things in life we can perceive visually :). Thinking about it this way sounds more exciting, probably sharpens our sense for what is important and what not. Gonna pay more attention to how the photographs of various stuff differs between people from now on
Exactly! That's a major point I often try to make - photography is so much more than wallpapers🤗 And yeah, just like you I also think it's more interesting this way🙌🏼
Great video and insightful as always. At 7.55 the word you are looking for is “sonder”, having this awareness is so important as a life lesson. A book that may interest you is Midcentury Memories, The Anonymous Project, Collated by Lee Shulman. The argument is that the best photography is of friends and family - home life. It is a snapshot from the Anonymous Project that started around 2017and has around 700,000 images from 1940s to 70s, all film!
Ohh wow, I didn't know that a word for this idea existed, thanks! Ohh interesting, thanks for the recommendation - as you could guess, I like the argument that is brought up🤔
what program do you use to create your videos? By the way - I love your videos! Never stop doing that. I discovered 2020 analog for myself and have been following you for a few weeks📸
