Also guys, keep in mind that notch was literally just a random dude wanting to make a fun indie game. He has problems just like anyone else and was absolutely not a person designed for the spotlight. I am almost 100% certain this is why he removed the videos. And I honestly don't blame him because that would be a really intense channel to manage.
Yeah, the pressure from such success is why he sold and left the company, the same happened to the guy who created Flappy Bird, that's the danger with blowing up so much online, not everyone can manage it. I'd probably have done the same in his shoes

I believe Notch privated his videos because he received a lot of hate for trying to get rid of pay to win minecraft servers and later for some weird things he said. Maybe it started getting too much of him
I think the more likely answer is that many people probably stumbled across the channel and thought that Notch was still in control of Minecraft’s development, whereby they would request that he fix things he no longer had control over.
I say this because Notch posted a tweet several years ago to this effect, publicly disavowing himself from his former creation.

Upon further research he apparently he said something about punching people, encouraging punching, and how some sort of people deserve to be shot. See i get why he is canceled after seeing those, just some other ones didn't make as much sense to be on the list. Really why i think he says those things is he sits around bored all day as he became rich but his life was basically destroyed because of it. His wife left him and before he sold the game got all kinds of hate from the Minecraft community which prompted him to sell the company
Can we just appreciate people for the good they did and not focus solely on the bad things theyve done? Nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, or believes stupid or sometimes even outrageous things. It's especially ridiculous considering how many lives he improved with mc.

I have a download of the Best Indie Games award video. After the 1:00 mark the video part stops completely, but the audio continues with the rest of the song (as would be expected.) Not sure whether that's because of the glitch you mentioned or if the original video actually stopped at that point.

I feel like Notch just copied gears from Dwarf Fortress and then changed them for something more fitting for Minecraft (btw aside from "OOH GEARS" what do people exactly expect from gears that they want them back?)
@@lerquian1970 For me, it's how they've been implemented by mods. 3D gears world turn something from up high to down low and vice versa. Ever seen TerraFirmaPunk as played by EthosLab? Gears show up there and would be pretty cool if added like that.
@@K-Anator create is too complicated for vanilla, it goes against Mojang's core principles for the design of Minecraft. Not to say it isn't great obviously.
Yeah, those of us that were on imageboards back in 2009 remember him coming on and talking to us about the game and looking for feedback. He would often share clips and such and we would talk about what we liked and didn't like and he would occasionally respond by implementing or tweaking things.
The fact that you have to include a disclaimer just because of one someone thinks, depicts a lot on how fragile our society is today
Notch makes some people feel unwelcome, and the disclaimer is to be considerate of the people Notch doesn't seem to value. The disclaimer was like 5 seconds of your life, get over it

5:35 i might have that version still on one of my old hard drives. been playing since the game went in open alpha testing i remember it looked like that. mabey if i get the drivers to work ill check it out and put it online if i got it. i for sure know i have a alpha1.5 mod that had all the zelda games and some othergames modded in mc that shit was dope.

since there are conflicting signals being sent, sometimes it bugs out;. Also youtube is far from bein gupdated in real time, when someone says they hit 1 mil you can look on your phone and your pc and they will by 0.99 on one and 1.01 on the other.
youtube doesnt seem to have an automatic comment update feature, if you switch from new and top comments manually it will update though.
I know when you just WACH a video multiple people are commenting and since TH-cam comments don’t update Real time so they don’t show up but the comments counter updates and that’s why to fix this you can set the comments to newest first and then back to top comments and then it will restart

@@ZentaBon I googled it again after I made this comment (I know that's the wrong order) and I agree he said some things in a way that made the statements more controversial than they would have had to be. But they all pretty much can be summarized with "It's okay to be -white -straight and -male". And off course every characteristic you cant control is okay. That's the point of an egalitarian society and basic tolerance. But for some radical people who embrace identity politics these are offensive and wrong opinions that need to be pusished.

Without Notch making Minecraft my mc animation channel wouldn't exist, 8 years of memories of playing mc with my friends wouldn't exist, and the joy of playing it for the first time wouldn't exist. This game has had such a profound impact on my life. For that, I thank him.

I remember when playing Minecraft for the first time, I wanted to go into creative mode but I forgot to set it the gamemode. It soon got dark and since I didn't know what the hell I was doing, I had no shelter or anything. Then in the not to far away from me, I saw what think was a giant. I was scared shitless and immediately closed the game. I don't if what I saw was a giant or not. I soon reopened Minecraft and created a new world in creative.

I managed to download the Award video and get the audio to play the entire time, but the visuals still stop at the same point.
I did some searching and the original video is 1 minute and 1 second long. I assume that the extra time is a side effect of the background song being longer than the video. This makes the video I downloaded the original. I looked into the page's code.

@@TheMisterEpic Yeah. It must be how TH-cam is coded that made the video play longer. I think that the video was synced with music using TH-cam's video editor which was probably experimental at the time. Notch probably didn't bother cutting the audio duration.
Mojang telling Notch he's 'unwelcome' at the 10th anniversary celebration of his game is just wrong. Regardless of the stuff he's said, it's just pure disrespect and blatant pandering imo. A creative genius with some strange opinions, wow never heard of that before...
Notch loved coding. He never wanted to become an idle I believe he put it. He just had fun creating wacky and fun things for Minecraft even if some stuff didn't make it in. I believe somewhere, he was showing himself code in arrows that exploded when he shot them. He was just messing around. He was enjoying it. Sadly, when he was cracking down on rules, people got mad. He said something along the lines of how he feels like what he's doing is right but he's getting hate for what he feels is right. Jokingly Tweeting asking if anyone wants his share of Mojang, Microsoft jumps up to the offer. A joke turns to Notch actually considering just selling his part just to get away from it all. After negotiating with Microsoft to make sure his employees where in good hands, he sold Minecraft for $2.5 billion. I think I read that he doesn't even talk with anyone from Mojang after leaving. Notch said that if he ever creates anything that blows up like Minecraft, he'll drop the whole thing immediately. This was just a man who did what he loved, eventually became a job and many looked up to him. Then hate took over and he threw in the towel. His fans drove him away. It's sad really. As you can tell, I did my research. Lol.

I feel like the channel videos going "private" is a relatively new thing because I've been subbed to that channel for awhile (this is a 2nd account and my other is subbed for longer). I think maybe halfway through 2020 i rewatched a few of the videos out of boredom.

The fact that you need to make a disclaimer distancing yourself from his views as if he's some violent extremist (but wouldn't do the same for groups who have caused actual significant harm) demonstrates how backwards the world has become. People are so hypersensitive to disagreement, that anybody not towing their line is demonized with extreme prejudice.
This is exactly why he made all of his videos private. He was bombarded and harassed by intellectually infantile creeps any time he showed himself online.
Did he have some bad takes? Sure. But nothing he said remotely deserves the vitriol targeted at him. People should be allowed to discuss controversial topics without being turned into boogeymen. He didn't deserve to have his entire identity and life's work stripped from him, and be disassociated from it all because of his opinions. It's genuinely tragic what people have done to him.
He could have been held up as a great example of the power of individual creativity. But instead people chose to turn him into boogeyman for his faults. And now people have to make absurd disclaimers any time they mention him even though he's done no harm to anyone.
He's a living breathing person, you know? People should have some empathy for what this ridiculous narrative has done to him. Imagine being in his shoes.

An interesting thing that there were annotations at the time videos got uploaded (not related to 'annotations' seen by clicking 'i' in the right top corner today), they appeared as semi-transparent boxes with text popping up over the video. And actually videos had much more information, with comments on development process. I remember waching these videos with annotations in 2017, but I don't remember exactly what they said. Unfortunately, TH-cam completely removed annotations in 2018 and they most probably can't be recovered at all.
Frankly, I’m beginning to really miss the old biome designs. They weren’t visually intrusive, and much easier to navigate.
I wish nothing but the best for Notch. I hope he has found peace & happiness.

Amazing the nostalgia from this video. I remember playing minecraft classic, which was creative only and browser based. It had those weird lava and water physics. And we got info on the game from Notch's youtube. I totally forgot about all of this. It's really amazing to me how few people got to experience this era of minecraft. But it makes sense since minecraft blew up in 2011 and forward. I'll just consider myself lucky I got to see it from the beginning in my lifetime. There used to only be about 20 of the browser creative servers and they usually weren't full. If anyone wants to experience it, it's actually still online. Lookup minecraft classic and you can find the link to play it.

In the time I have messed around near giants I have died to them twice. Both times it was very early in playing the game. Idk why or how but it happened. Once, early in pocket edition during the time of the nether reactor I fell out of the world and came down from the sky just to land in a lake. Minecraft is an odd game.

as a professional dev, can't believe he had access to that vector that time. one will massively improve game optimization, possibly infinite chunks can load, and high fps. there are people who are doing that method but of course it's improved than before. it's the best for a sandbox+not too high detail game
