    an actually practical one: always make boots before helmet. boots take up 1 less resource but actually have more durability than helmets (you can look it up on the wiki or use F3+H ingame to see the durability)
    also optifine isn't always the 100% must use, sodium + starlight runs better on my pc. the performance depends on the pc so you should try both setups to see which one works better

    • @Z38_US
      @Z38_US 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same I switched from Optifine to Sodium and the performance I get from my game drastically increased. Of course I had to install some seperate mods to be able to use shaders and have connected textures that are built into optifine but the peformance increase is worth it

    • @MGSLurmey
      @MGSLurmey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sodium generally works better for most machines, simply because it's much more lightweight, being designed for Fabric, and newer. Optifine is fairly old, quite invasive, and is most often run with Forge, which itself is terrible for Minecraft's performance.

I told them "Don't do it!" or they will be banned from my plot or protected areas and they continued and get banned form ever setting foot there again.

    9:20 in most cases you should break a spawner. Long term investment? Spawner farms are one of least efficient farms in game. Only place where i see spawner farm is drowned copper farm... Ah wait you can do a trident farm instead.
    EDIT: for drops i recomend multi level auto mob farm with water bucket dispensers enabling and pushing mobs from platform to death from fall damage or campfires. For xp? Just use enderman or gold farm.

    • @SubToCinder
      @SubToCinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes

    • @MGSLurmey
      @MGSLurmey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Difference is, for most players general-purpose mob farms are large, expensive, complicated, and require a lot of time and effort to build. However, a skeleton spawner can be converted to a fairly efficient starter XP farm with just 10 minutes of digging and some wood.

    • @kjentytek3035
      @kjentytek3035 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      enderman farms are one of the simplest farm designs ive encountered. And yes, im talking about the classic best efficiency design, working since 1.9, aka the most complicated one, with 0 requerement to use. for mob drops and xp on begginer level i still recomend running at night or for xp and food build a massive cow/pig farm. spawner farms are outclassed in EVERY single way. However, if youre playing on world with something like silk touch spawners, well, in this very spesific situation spawner farms might be coming close to the traditional farm designs, but still, they will be less efficient. Conclusion: spawner farms are outclassed.

    I actually like to leave the bottom-most wood block if its in my forest/tree farm near my base, gives a cool aesthetic of logging stumps. then if i need to plant more because the grown trees are getting too far out or if i need some quick wood then i'll cut stumps and replant. as long as the leaves dont connect to the the stumps they will decay.

  • @darkbooger
    @darkbooger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    As for rule#9 I would recommend Sodium + Starlight for the fabric modloader since it optimizes the game better than Optifine but without changing behavior. It also works better on lower end devices with the only drawbacks being no zoom, shaders or dynamic lights by default. However, there are mods that offer that with much better performance such as lambdynamiclights and Iris Shaders.

    4:52 OptiFine for just some performance and quality boost, Sodium for *loads* of extra performance (other mods can bring back most of OF's extra features, like shaders, CIT, etc at better performance, so I see very little reason to use OF)

    • @zekiz774

      Just wanted to write that. In modern versions of Minecraft there's no reason to use optifine anymore.

    • @MGSLurmey
      @MGSLurmey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zekiz774 While Minecraft has gotten much better performance-wise over the years, it's still a laggy mess for most users. Many people don't have god PCs, and even TH-camrs and streamers with top of the line machines use performance mods. My PC is pretty damn good (Ryzen 5 5600X & GTX 1650) and even it struggles with high render distances on Vanilla.
      I will say that I'd agree Optifine specifically is pretty old and unnecessary. It's much better for most users to use Fabric, Sodium, and Starlight. However, some users still find Optifine to be the better option, especially the aforementioned TH-camrs and streamers. Speedrunners generally use Sodium, though.

    I will say, I do like playing minecraft without full bright because I like staring into the yawning darkness of a cave or being able to easily tell if mobs will spawn or not. Plus, it increases my alertness, which I need considering how trash I am at the game. Also staring at endermen can be a safety precaution if you've already glanced at one because if you just stare at their eyes, they don't move. And how could you forget jukeboxes? clearly the most important thing diamonds are used for

    For Rule 6, even if you only have one bucket at that moment, just pick up and put down each axolotl you find one at a time. Doing this prevents them from despawning, so if you put them in a secure pond (one with water but no magma blocks and maybe a fence around it) you can come back for them later!

    okay just a "little" fix to your video :
    DO NOT EVER USE OPTIFINE
    Optifine really is just bad, and you can't prove it otherwise, its becoming extremely outdated, it messes up a lot of mods just for them existing and just using fabric with sodium and iris does the same as optifine but just better in every way (exept for the configuration settings, those are really needed for fabric). i highly recommend trying to find alternative instead of using this aging, rotting garbage. don't even use this in -1.13 (fabric and sodium are 1.14+), because mods + optifine is equal to a lot of stuff breaking or even crashes, the thing optifine is meant to avoid... even if you are in -1.13, these versions aren't very intensive on your gpu unlike the newer ones, so theres no point in it, and if you want shaders (and who the hell plays with shaders on anyway ?), install it for a quick thumbnail or smt for your video im guessing and uninstall it, its not that hard to understand how optifine is really bad
    (seriously, optifine is just bad, don't use that)

    • @SubToCinder
      @SubToCinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      fair point, although ngl a lot of people use optifine for playing with shaders (even the PvP community uses shaders like Sildur's Basic or Jeezet Blur) or for tweaking settings on low-end computers to boost the performance of the game. After all, not everyone has the specs that can run -1.13 versions smoothly- just a couple years ago when my setup consisted of a $300 laptop, i was only able to run Minecraft 1.8.9 above 60fps with optifine 😱 i do agree that optifine isn't ABSOLUTELY mandatory to have a fun time on Minecraft, but again these rules are just a general recommendation for having a good and optimal time on the game! Thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching!! :))))

    • @arthuriii1638
      @arthuriii1638 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Optifine is not "just bad", it is true that Sodium and other fps mods for fabric are better at optimizing fps in minecraft, but optifine is a good alternative. I enjoy using optifine for the customization, it also gives a nice fps boost even on the higher end of machines. For example on my rtx2060 (which I would call a decently good gpu, not the best but in the higher range of gpus), gets more fps from using optifine even in 1.8.9. Also optifine has all the features in one (shader, fps boost, etc) and it supports custom models in resource packs.
      You should not hate on something if you find something other better. Everyone has their opinions, but minecraft is a great game bc you can play it however you want. You can add and remove mods to your own liking. While sodium is in paper a better alternative if purely looking at perfomance boost, optifine does a fine job as well.

    The point about not using diamonds on a hoe is outdated as of 1.16 which came out 2 years ago. In 1.16, hoes were updated so they could break certain blocks faster, at the time being leaves, sponges (very useful before you kill all the elder guardians), hay bales (speedrun strats), and the wart blocks. In 1.19 it is now able to break sculk based blocks faster, potentially saving you from a warden

    1.Makes sense.
    2. Ironically, beds are good as a makeshift explosive, (Provided you have protection and fire resistance) especially when you are mining for Ancient Debris.
    3. Actually, not as true anymore. they're useful for quickly harvesting certain blocks, like hay bales, leaves, nether wart blocks, and especially the Sculk blocks! It's more cost-effective you find one as loot or a Villager trade, though. Plus, you NEED to make a Netherite one if you want the "Serious Dedication Advancement"
    4. Well, duh! How else can you get a crafting table to make all your other stuff?
    5. No, that's cheating. Plus it defeats the purpose of lighting, nighttime, and discovering caves. And that's not as fun...
    6. What if I don't want one...?
    7. Eh, a Speedrunner thing, but whatever.
    8. This is one I have deep fried into my brain.
    9. Later.
    10. Dig diagonally instead!
    11. And don't half-heart it either by just covering up the top. Fill every last block!
    12: Light them on fire instead! But seriously, don't hurt the Villagers at all. Unless it's a Nitwit, torch those on sight!
    13: Oh, this is annoying...
    14: Sure, that's a quick way to make everyone hate you...
    15: Same goes with Cats.
    16: Floating treeeeeeeees!
    17. It's literally useless, but if you want a Trophy...
    18. Not until you're on a 4 block tall pillar first!
    19: This applies for Zombie, Skeleton and Blaze Spawners, but...You really wanna put up with a swarm of Cave Spiders/Silverfish/Magma Cubes every 5 seconds!?
    21: This actually never occurred to me! But what if you needed to get down quicker?
    22: On the other hand, you COULD for some quick demolition...
    23: That is, unless you REALLY Hate spiders...Other than that, it's pretty useless. Also, who has beef with Bees?!
    24: I mean...if you have them to spare...But yeah, that's a bad idea and you should make your house out of something cheaper. And RENEWABLE.

    I agree with a lot of the rules plus it’s also common sense when you are experienced with the game it self. But, for all the newbies I would suggest my take on these rules, okay let’s just start off with rules that I believe that should be changed/altered within this video. Rule number 5, yes changing your gamma will allow you to see at night time but you are literally editing the game files to see full brightness. A lot of og Minecraft players will just bring their brightness all the way up in the game settings, this will allow players to see in caves and also if they need to light up their house or anything. If players want to see fully without editing the game files there is night vision potions that does exactly the same. Let’s dive into the next rule that I don’t fully disagree but there is better options, and that is rule number 9. Optifine does help with performance but there is a lot of other mods that does ten times better. For example, Sodium. Yes it’s not really built into famous clients yet but if you truly want the best performance, you will go out of your way and install it just like other people installing Optifine by itself. Anyways, rule number 19, it’s pretty straight and forward. If you want an early xp farm you shouldn’t destroy the spawner, in terms of long term an enderman farm or blaze farm will be more beneficial.

  • @Templarfreak
    @Templarfreak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    #3: flip side, if you make a diamond, or even better, a netherite, hoe you will literally never need to make a hoe in that world ever again as long as you dont lose it :D
    #5: personally, i like to play on moody because its more interesting and fun. it makes it a little easier to spot where you need to put torches. saving torches while mining is kind of an eh thing, i kinda _want_ my mineshafts to be lit up so nothing spawns in them cuz its annoying lol
    #9 unfortunately these days a lot of mods have custom renderers that are incompatible with Optifine, Sodium actually also has much better compatibility with mods than Optifine, especially on Fabric. Optifine does a lot of aggressive changes to optimize the game's rendering as much as possible, whereas Sodium does not change the behavior of how the rendering works (and imo it actually gives better performance improvements too lol).
    #10 dig a 2x1 hole if you want to dig straight down and stand inbetween the 2 blocks, i mostly use this for creating a mine shaft, instead of building a staircase that goes down to where i want i just make a hellevator that's 2x1 with ladders so i can go back up and water at the very bottom so i can just jump straight down. this method will always allow you to see what's below you before you fall, so you'll never be surprised by a giant cavern or lava pool below you.
    #11 if you're not concerned about time, cover up creeper explosions by using an alternating checkerboard pattern. so like:
    + + +
    + + +
    + + +
    where left side is one layer and right side is the layer ontop of it. this will use less resources to fill the hole back in, and if you're on an older version of Minecraft where Creepers have a chance to also destroy the blocks they explode, that can be very useful. this pattern also prevents mobs from spawning in any of the air pockets you leave behind in the patched up creeper hole. obviously dont try to replicate this pattern exactly, that's basically impossible due to the way placing blocks in minecraft works, but something clsoe to this pattern will save you precious blocks at the cost of a bit of time.
    #16 tbh just get some mod like Treecapitator (for older versions of MC) or Falling Tree (for newer versions) its way more convenient, people say these mods are op but, like, do you really think the experience of cutting 100s of trees for hours is really all that exciting, enriching, and a memorable experience?? really?? who cares, just give me the wood so i can build the stuff i want to build lol
    #18 looking at their eyes is a great way to lure them to you so you can get their ender pearls. alternatively, a lesser-known feature is if you wear a carved pumpkin on your head they will totally ignore you.
    #19 place torches on every face of the mob spawner. this will prevent it from spawning mobs entirely, so that it isnt annoying and dangerous to wander around until you set up some kind of mob farm for it.
    #21 see what i said about #10. as a bit of something added, the most optimal mineshafts is every 2 blocks, in each direction you prefer to make your mineshafts in (X, Y, and Z axis). i personally also like to make a 3x3 room, and each wall of this room i extend outward as far as i like, and then on each wall of these new hallways is where i do my shafts every 2 blocks.
    every 2 blocks is optimal because the entire surface of the space between each shaft will be entirely visible, so you'll never miss anything in the walls of the shafts.
    #24 back in the day i think this was fine to do, but with the existence of beacons and netherite its a lot more important to save your diamonds for actual practical purposes. plus, building a giant diamond or netherite beacon is way more class imo anyway :)

  • @Hexasan

    rule number 9 is just not valid for versions starting from 1.16, sodium(and other fabric optimization mods) is(are) just better and every single optifine feature has a fabric mod equivelent which is problaly better
    optifine isnt open-source so mod devs cant make their mods work with optifine, they can just hope it works with optifine, which isnt a problem with most fabric optimization/qol mods

    A really minor unwritten rule I always follow, if you're just after wood to craft something and don't care what kind of wood it is, use birch trees. They grow faster than oak, and don't have the chance to turn into the annoying gigachad tall trees with branches that are exceptionally annoying to cut down properly.
    I've seen so many early game tree farms be slow and inefficient because they get the tall trees that need climbing in to cut them down or just burning. Birch bois solve that problem. Same with dark oak, since the tree is wide enough that you can spiral up them to make sure you get every log. Not to even mention that birch + dark oak is a really nice-looking contrast for builds.

    A diamond hoe is one of the best things to spend your diamonds on.. A diamond sword, pick, armor, etc can all be got from villager trades, whereas a hoe cannot, plus with the last couple of updates adding more and more blocks which the hoe breaks very fast such as leaves, shroomlights, nether trees, etc, they are very useful.
    Couples tips:
    If you accidentally look at an enderman and are unprepared, keep looking at him, and he won't attack you until you look away, so just back away to safety.
    When you get to the bottom of your mineshaft, use a stonecutter to craft stairs with the stone you just mined, this will save you lots of time and stamina in the long run.
