I remember looking through the bridal portion of the Sears & JC Penny catalogs for hours as a kid in the 80s mesmerized & trying to draw those beautiful designs from the pages. I also remember being a flower girl in those 80s double weddings & thinking I would be an old lady before they ended😂 But they were awesome. You look beautiful in your Mom's dress, it is a beautiful gown still today. Just found your channel from your comment on 80s Obsessed's "Pretty in Pink Fancy Dress" video. Really glad to have found your channel, enjoyed this video, thank you for unlocking some very happy memories I had forgotten. I can't wait to go back & watch the other episodes & look forward to future ones. I would really love to see a video on 80s jewelry or how to find it/similar styles, have been searching this topic for days & haven't seen where anyone has made this yet.😞

I liked the V shaped headband wedding veils back in the 80's with the tear drop shape pearl that hung from the point of the V.

@@turnbacktothe80s When I was about 6 years old in 1989 my family was invited to a wedding. It was my Mom's cousin's daughter who got married. Her wedding dress was the kind of 80's wedding gowns with the poofy sleeves on the shoulders and I remember I loved her V shaped vaile headpiece. I have pictures I can post on my Instagram at merbareh82 if you are interested in seeing her wedding gown.

@@turnbacktothe80s True, I never see myself getting married in my Mom's dress either. My Mom Married in 1977 and I thought my Mom's dress was too 70's for my taste, even though it was pretty on her. Funny story though back when I was a kid in the early 90's my Mom and Grandmother were down stairs in our basement and pulled out my mother's wedding vaile to look at it. My grandmother kept my mother's wedding gown and vaile safe in my grandmother's old Hope Chest. I came downstairs into the basement and spotted my Mom's wedding vaile sitting on top of the chest. I all of a sudden got the brilliant idea that I wanted to play "fashion designer" with my Barbie Dolls. But I "needed fabric" to do so. So, I grabbed my Mom's wedding vaile and used the tulle fabric as my material. I thought to myself, "Hmm, Mom already had her wedding so it is unlikely she will never ware this vaile again. And I'm sure as hell not going to wear her vaile if I got married cuz its too 70's. I want my own dress and vaile that I want to pick out for myself.". So I grabbed some scissors and I started cutting away at her vaile. Not to long after that, my Mom comes down stairs and notices that her vaile wasn't on top of the Hope Chest where she left it. Where did it go? Then she saw pieces of her vaile on the floor of the basement. OH MY GOD, BOY DID SHE GET MAD AT ME!
Loved the interview! Have you thought about interviewing other family members about what life was like in the '80s? If so my personal question for them is what were some of their favorite things about the '80s and what are some things they'd like to bring back if they could?
Also I'd like to suggest a "What I've learned today" segment but with facts and trivia about the '80s! - maybe even incorporate funny '80s commercials as a transition occasionally lol
I plan on wearing my mom's wedding dress! She got married in the 90s but it wasn't a new dress so it was probably from the late 80s :)
