They have been divorced for 41 years. That’s a long time to be carrying a torch for someone who seems to hate you now. I love Carly and her music. I wish her another love like that before she dies. She deserves better.

I've had a speech impediment where I get stuck on words, specifically hard consonants, since childhood and one thing I used to do is stamp my foot to get the word out. My parents hated that and accused me of "inventing" that method much to my chagrin. It's similar however to your mother's advice. And, yes, people also urged me to "sing my words" as that as we know is also a common trick.
Mick Jagger sang the harmony vocals on “You’re So Vain”, but the back up vocals were done by the same backup singers who sang on “The Right Thing to Do” - Carly Simon who of course also sang lead, then there was Vicki Brown and Liza Strike - if I’m not mistaken.
