Huh, never would have thought Elincia would be the first WAIFU to be on the overrated side. From what I've seen, people tend to underrate her if anything, but the comments showed otherwise I guess. She uses the Imbue skill really well...if that helps at all. As long as she's out of one-shot range, it can help her in P4 with self-sustaining, but if you're just using her as a staffbot then it doesn't matter. I was actually surprised that Fiona was noted for her Savior skill and not Imbue, which is a much stronger version of Renewal on certain units. Not like super amazing or anything, but I think saving a turn of healing through self-sustain could be useful in some situations.
But Savior is the skill that would technically help Fiona the most since if she takes damage she dies anyway (though the value on Savior is being able to fight while rescuing so ???????????) and you shouldn't factor skills or items characters come (unless getting the skill for free capacity cost is helpful for the unit)
Imbue is stronger than renewal on almost any unit. Even if a unit has 60hp (which is the cap for most non-laguz), Renewal will only heal for 6hp. Meanwhile most units will just, by chance, get at least 6 magic by the time the late midgame rolls around, at which point Imbue becomes better for most units. It also helps that most prepromotes come with really good magic stats for no good reason, so you're guaranteed to have a bunch of units that get at least ~15 healing from Imbue.Poor renewal, it was treated unjustly in Radiant Dawn.

People always look in units in a vacuum, assuming max stats, best weapons and infinite time against infinite enemies with plenty of time to heal.

Muarim and Elincia have something in common. When they come back in part 4 their combat is okay enough to help. Unlike Muarim she has access to 1-2 range, a flying mount, staves and an existing speed cap that is high enough to be usefull. Also no transformation gauge. I would still rate her 4 stars just because she stands out as better then the 3 star units for me.
They're also really hard to spell correctly if you're drunk.

Its funny because Elincia literally wanted to aid Ike back in POR, and he kept saying no, up until the end. Same thing happened in RD after the Greil mercs saved Elincia from Valtome's henchmen. If she was allowed to help in both games, she would have been a lot more useful and would have more chances to gain levels up, hence be upgraded by 1 star in both games.

Thanks for making this vid. At the very least, there was enough talk about Elincia to warrant a video, and she really is a very interesting unit that I'd say deserved the attention.
I adore Elincia, both as a character and a unit, but I won't say she's anything more than 4 stars. It's crazy how a unit with flyer utility, Canto, arguably the best staff utility in the game, good bases, fantastic growths, plenty of room to grow, and a Prf, infinite-use, super-light Brave Sword can be anything but 5 stars, but that's FE10 for you.

hey you forgot the best thing about her: she is the only unit, which is able do deal damage with a staff equipped
Elincia screentime is non-existant in radiant dawn : in part 2 , the epilogue last 1 turn and she is in the easiest part 4 chapters with another chapter lasting one turn , her screen time outside of the tower is basically the duration of the prologue of radiant dawn ( where whe doesn't have amiti ) and her first chapter in part 4 where she has trouble one rounding and surviving .
That being said , she is a decent candidate to bring in the tower along the furry kings , giffca , jill and haar and oliver .
So the key takeaways from this video are.
1. Radiant Dawn is a mess
2. Availability is a factor
3. Radiant Dawn is a mess
4. Her combat is average or gimped in maps that aren't 2-F
5. Jeb is a mess

Plus IS and Nintendo budget cut the world map and proper support convos. I kid you not, there's an unused world map theme for radiant dawn. If both features were in the game, it would have been a solid 9/10 instead of 7/10 for me. The battle save for easy/normal is easily the best thing they included in RD.
Battle Save is in Hard Mode as well, but I agree with it being great.

Having a grading rubrix for each game would help us understand the grading. I propose from 1 to 5 of:
A. effort to result ratio
B. Availability
C. Utility

@endgame now in my first PT of the game. I think I’m gonna bring elincia for staff utility and occasional quadrupling enemies. I was able to get her a bunch of kills on the previous map so now she’s level 10. I’m actually still at endgame preps because I’m super indecisive lol.

Overall, I totally get your arguments, but for someone who plays the game at a moderate pace, so no speedruns but I certainly don't turtle, Elincia is a 4 star unit to me. She can KO safely when she needs to, rescue allies well, and staff. Canto gives her great utility. If Elincia were available for 4-3, I think she would be held in higher regard because she would eat that map alive. But Tibarn would do it even better so I digress.
Two things to bring up, Elincia being a staffbot has a niche in Endgame only shared with Mist that she can bless a Wyrmslayer for Ike or a Trueblade you trained if you so choose. That makes 4-E-3 way, way easier when you have someone doing effective damage to Dhegensia and his allies aside from a Dragonfoe equipped Laguz royal. I know it sounds like sacrilege to not bless the Amiti, but Elincia won't be killing the last two chapters, she will be supporting. And to be fair blessed Wyrmslayer is way better for 4-E-3 than Amiti for Elincia's combat so....
Also, Elincia is the only magic unit who can equip Imbue. She can practically heal all her HP back by herself every Player Phase when combined with Renewal. That is pretty nice, too. A self-healing support unit.
Unless your team is skewed you should be able to deal with deghinsea regardless. I don't think the imbue thing is all that important considering staves heal the user as well
Elincia is a goddess. An amazing woman and a fantastic unit, not the best but still very very good.

While I don't think it will change your mind i think that should you want to it's very easy to pull off triangle attack shanagins in rd since even if you don't want to train to much tanith and sigrun come with good bases and are likely to get a few kills in the dessert maps. So you will have some guys ready to use that will crit a fair amount.

Mekkah, do you think Nomah from FE 2/Gaiden and 15/echoes warrents an episode of W.A.I.F.U.? Or perhaps, some sort of unit analysis? I just think he gets a bad rap from the community when he's more than just a heal bot.
I've always liked Nomah but it's hard to rate him really highly cause he's never around.
Nomah has very little screentime and has bad stats. He can do things, but he doesn't do anything major.

I don't know about gaiden but in echoes nomah is kind of mediocre. His main issue is his 8 base speed (5 due to fire) in act 4. even with Excalibur his 12 base magic really holds him back from doing meaningful damage without a crit.

Even after all this, i think shes a 4/5 unit, when you CAN deploy her, she feels incredibly useful. Shes not a star of the game like Ike Haar or Tibarn, but she is damn good of a unit and def in the top10 of actual useful units you get before all the laguz royals join you

Honestly I don’t recall which units you guys having been giving 4 stars so idk if she’s 3 or 4. I’d probably rate her 4 but I’m biased and use her to kill Yeardley for whatever reason. She’s really only very good in one map, but in the others she’s pretty good/fends for herself okay. 3 seems fair enough. I think what really got me and others was Mangs rating her lower than Marcia, who is just super mediocre and never one of the more useful units on your team when she’s around.

Do you think Julia would be fitting for a Waifu Episode? I don't know if she would count as an overrated character because of her Naga Tome and her Performance against Julius and most of the Deadlords. Or as underrated because of her low movement and low defense plus there is not that much what she can do overall besides healing and she leaves for the last two chapters before she can be re-recruited in the last section of the final chapter.
You should do an overrated Waifu on Lute. I think she’s really good and the only thing I see that Artur has on her is that he can get an instant C rank in staffs when he promotes. Artur is considered top 5 units in SS but Lute is no where near that. Care to explain?

The problem with Elincia is as you say, she is not in enough chapters and she is very dependent on being RNG blessed. Although, Eh...on the Archer thing because nullify is a skill she can learn as a scroll in the Gambit level and Giffica has the scroll as well. Also remove mercy as soon as you get her and sell it for a profit later in the game! Anyway, when the stars align perfectly she *can* be a 4-star unit when it doesn't she's a 2-Star unit which is why I say 3 stars is a good rating to give her in my opinion. Realize when they rate units they can move up or down in the scale based on how well do and the levels they gain overall. Which is why you can go from zero to her with a shitty unit with enough investment at least in my opinion.

3 stars did surprise me. I feel like she should have been 4 stars, mostly because she's a flying prepromote with an infinite Brave Sword with stat boosts, so she's a great unit without any investment. The drawbacks to her is having the bow weakness, a Tier 3 class which means low XP gains and the fact that you have to unequip Mercy from her. In my opinion, a good unit without investment is enough to push at least to 4 stars from 3. 1 and 2 stars should be for units that are actively bad, while 3 in my opinion is units that can only be good when you actively use them a lot (Erk in FE7 comes to mind here. A good unit, but requires you to use him continuously).
Unequipping Mercy doesn't take a lot of time though. It sucks if you forget about it, but it doesn't really hurt her that bad.

In a game where there are a ton of units and You are switching sides a lot. also The units leave and rejoin later chapters. There is a lot to factor in.
3 stars means the unit is useable, It's average, It's not a bad rating for someone who isn't around much. i don't know why people are hurt over it.
Elincia is serviceable, not super great but decent. You can use her without too much trouble and she aids allies with healing.
Unlike most of the Dawn lot in Chapter 1 who you have to constantly baby for most of the game. All you have to do is keep Elincia away from arrows like every other flier.
I was surprised at the three stars because they give three stars to pretty much everyone who is somewhat useable. If I remember correctly at least Mangs gave Edward 3 stars. To me, they are so wildly different units, that giving them the same rating is kinda weird.

Though Elincia and Edward are different units and are used differently they share the same common ground as being useable, Not top tier but not bottom tier either due to them having a flaw. Weither it be bases, growths, join time or their availability, also them compared to othered units that do the same things. In Edward's case he is competing against Zihark. Elincia isn't fighting against anyone as to say but her availability is low.
To me a 3 star is basically saying this unit is useable, so deploy and use them if you can. but this unit might have trouble now and again.

The star system isn't great for which units to use honestly, so far it boils down to "3 stars? Yes. 4 stars: hell yes 5 stars: this unit should be deployed even if you had to bench 3 others" Radiant Dawn nerfed staves so hard, not only do you have piles of good healing items but you also lose enemy phase on your healer...because they equip their staff.
More like "Mini" waifu. Seriously, this is essentiall your fourth longest waifu (assuming we count the Amelia and Lyn videos as waifus, which they in essence were.) Not dissing the actual video, it was amazing, but why "Mini waifu"?

Honestly, I give her 4 for her endgame. I feel like it's better to rate the units on what they can be when they are there than what they could have been if they were in other places. For instance, Nailah is broken in part 1, but in the endgame, she's not on par with the rest of the Laguz Royals or even other units that could be trained, so also 4 stars (being broken in part 1 isn't really that special since multiple units take turns being that unit across part 1). Opposite extreme, Ilyana has great availability but she is just not good because she isn't really that great across every chapter she is in despite having one unparalleled matchup in endgame part 3 with a blessed bolting. Her best niche is just simply giving her goodies for the Greil Mercenaries in part 3.
It's tempting to factor in availability, but I feel like it doesn't really add much to a character except dreaming about what could have been. It can make a unit seem wrongly bad when they are in fact the best unit in the game when they are there (Tibarn).
My main issue with you giving elincia 3 Star was that Marcia got 4 stars. Marcia even with good investment is only slightly better then elincia and doesn’t have the utility of elincia.

I've been playing FE7 Hector normal, and Canas is amazing. He even doubles at base. If I ever play HHM, I plan to use Canas if I am able.
I know I've been saying WAIFU: Salem but I just remembered Heath, who I think is another good candidate.
Elincia’s probably the best staff user for endgame, but that’s still not that impressive.

@@envoy2500 those times are 2 maps before part 4 though, and as mekkah mentioned healing isn't too relevant in the first and in the second only if you choose not to boss skip. In part 4 most of your units don't need all that much healing anymore. She'll be useful in 4-2 but 4-5 is another boss skip. In the tower micaiah will suffice for what healing you need. Her healing utility is not as big as you make it out to be

Although Boyd takes a bit to train I do believe he becomes better than haar combat wise because haar will cap speed at 32 where Boyd will be at 35, Nolan doesn’t compare to these two cuz all his strength and defense suck and hes a mage killer with a cap at 20 res,
