I Understand the Golf Ball Company list takes broader aspects into account than just the personal favorite ball anyone plays, but for me Wilson is No. 1. I play zip regularely for recreative round with great results but in certain conditions when the course is dry and I want to really roll the ball on the fariway or check on the greens, I can switch to triad or even staff model with no problems. Congratulations on the great video and keep up with the good job on the channel!
Already placed a donation, I'd like to see raising the channel up to the next level.

Great video. Love the channel. Through July I was rocking the 2023 Maxfli Trifli with straightfli dimple pattern. A couple weeks ago a friend got me to try the Callaway ERC soft with triple track. I've played three rounds and love this ball. Straight, long drives and nice feel around the green. The triple track for putting is awesome. Really enjoying your content. Keep it up.

I'm stuck between Srixon and Callaway, I play Q star-tour divide currently. I will be testing Kirkland signature 2.0 vs the q star. the price range is$1.00 a ball and I have heard good things about them! Recently I heard that Callaway is putting X amount of money into fixing mass produced balls were the center of gravity is off to one side. as many know not every golf ball rolls the same or plays the same! great video!

Thank you very much. Let me know what you find out about the Kirkland versus the q star. My personal results are that the q star blows it away. It's not that the V2 is a bad golf ball, but compared to that divide it's a tough matchup.

Just found this channel, and while I agree with most of what you’ve said in this video, there is one fundamental thing I think I disagree with, and that’s whenever you say “my swing speed doesn’t work for this ball”. Most people don’t realize this, but most golf balls (even Pro V1, TP5, etc.) get 90% compression at only 80 miles an hour. So if you are swinging the club at least 80 miles an hour, which is a vast majority of golfers, you are getting almost all of the performance out of the golf ball. Some golf balls can and do fit a certain swing speed better than others, but I wouldn’t endorse the blanket statement of “I don’t swing fast enough for a tour level ball”. The defining characteristics for a golf ball should be ball speed, spin, and trajectory. Feel and sound and everything else comes second, but if you can hit the ball within the speed target you like, with the right amount of spin and the right height, that is what defines a golf ball.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Hey Joshua, first of all thank you for watching and welcome to the channel!
This is a really good brilliant post. You are 100% correct when you are talking about the compression being 90% with the driver. I have almost zero issues with any golf ball on the driver numbers unless it's too soft and I overcompress it. Golf balls like the TP5, the pro V1, provi One x etc have all had amazing results with the driver.
This is where I think this would be an awesome video I could do to be more specific. The problem I have with most tour golf balls is in the irons. Not even with my hybrids, more specifically my six iron, seven iron, all the way up to wedges. Take the pro V1 for example. When I'm hitting a 9-iron shot, a flushed center hit will go 125, which is my average. However because the compression is so much harder than other golf balls, if I miss hit it even in the slightest I only get 111 to 1:13. That is a huge drop off that usually results with me not even being on the green.
On the other end of that spectrum, if I hit one of the softer golf balls, I do sacrifice a little bit of driver distance, usually around 5 yards, but that miss hit on that 9 iron now is 120, which still leaves me with a makeable birdie putt.
I definitely want to touch more in depth on this with a video. It's a really great point you brought up and I really need to expand on it more. Thanks again 😀

@@GolfBallAddict that makes a lot of sense! And I didn’t necessarily mean my comment directly aimed at you, or your situation, you test a lot of golf balls and know what is best for your game, I was more putting that out in the universe at the common belief that a certain golf ball type or compression number is meant for a certain type of golfer. I think if we can encourage people to try all kinds of golf balls, even ones they wouldn’t normally try, more people will find the best ball for them, leading them playing better golf. I think to your point, a video explaining some of the different golf ball fitting parameters would be great! There is a ball to fit everyone at any price point, and anything that can be done to help someone find the right ball for them helps the game. I love the attention that outlets such as yours, MyGolfSpy, etc. have been giving to this matter, everyone forgets that the golf ball is the only thing you use on every single shot. I think it’s the most important part of the bag, and I’m glad people have been seeing that in recent years.

This is my new fav channel!!! I also enjoy the Callaway and it all started with the hex pattern. I don't know why but I like it's always done well for me, especially the ERC. I may need to try the Vice Pro as I've only played ones that I have found, but those drip designs are sooo cool and perform up there with the better balls on the market.
    Two Q's:
    1. With the new Bushnell will you do any retesting? I assume with better #'s you may do a retest of the top or least performing balls.
    2. And would you ever do a range ball(non-limited flight) baseline vs the test ball? I've watched some vids and it seems like a driving range ball would have better numbers.

I don’t know what I’m gonna play today 8/17. I can get two dozen for the price of one WILSON Tour. I can’t get by manufactures not balancing their balls like the Maxfli tours, or Triad! So I’ll address the elephant in the room. Titleist is the #1 ball in golf and probably always will be. Every single golf ball out there aspires to be a Titleist or is compared to Titleist. The definitive golf ball test is the week long process that My Golf Spy does every year. After all they were the ones that discovered Callaway was making lopsided balls. The ONLY reason Callaway has improved their game and now actually has some of their staff players playing chrome soft is because My Golf Spy exposed the crap product they were putting out. Here’s an interesting fact:
Titleist golf balls are the most used by the top 100 PGA Tour pros with 71% playing a Pro V1, Pro V1x or Pro V1 Left Dot. Callaway and Srixon balls are each used by 10 players with TaylorMade balls used by 7. Bridgestone balls are chosen by 2 pros. In total 11 golf ball models made by these 5 brands are used by this group.
The simple fact that tour pros choose Titleist and Titleist leads the my golf spy testing EVERY year says all you need to know. I recently won a gift certificate to a local course from a huge outing. I told them I’ll take it in balls. It was 6 doz tp5-tp5x or 4 dozen Pro v1’s. I’m the proud owner of 4 boxes of Titleist pro v1’s.

When it comes to the testing as far as the consistency and attention to detail in the factory process, I completely agree with you. Titleist does that very well. For their tour balls at least. The other ones do not go through such processing.
As far as Titleist being the number one golf ball, this is a misconception from a skewed stat. Titleist offers massive amounts of money to pretty much any golfer turning pro. That's why 71% of Tour players play them. I've seen many interviews where Tour players have bluntly came out and said that if Titleist hadn't offered them so much money they'd play a different ball. That's also why the titleist golf balls cost so much. They spend an absolute Kings Ransom on paying players.
I have tested pretty much all the titleist balls on my channel now, and for an average swing speed of 93 mph with the driver, none of them seem to perform very well and all. (Except for the trufeel and velocity), if you combine this with the value, which is basically none. I just don't see the hype. Titleist is charging $37 a dozen for a two-piece golf ball, there's a lot of competition out there now to fight that.
I have nothing against titleist, I just wish they'd spend a little more time on their mid-range and low range balls instead of living off old praise from the pro v1.

I myself can not stand Titleist balls....never have.....give me a Srixon / Callaway / Vice or even a Wilson Staff Model over a Titleist any day....just my preference ...cheers from Canada

@@GolfBallAddict I guess the definitive results will have to wait until My Golf Spy releases their extensive research backed testing in Arizona. All the balls they purchase are random buys so you get a good sample from balls anyone could purchase at a store. If Titleist doesn’t make the top 5 I’ll come back here and apologize 👍

@@GOLFADDICT65 guess you’re in the minority, Titleist pretty much ran the tables again in the week long golf ball testing they do every year with My Golf Spy. As MGS so eloquently puts it…… every manufactured golf ball on the market today is trying to “be as good as Titleist”. They even work it into their marketing. As good as a Pro v1, as good as a Titleist etc etc. The simple comment that you can’t stand Titleist golf balls is obviously an opinion. Albeit an opinion lacking in validity, knowledge and scientific backing.

I find it amazing after all of your hype that cut golf is not even an honorable mention. Plus you say you are all about value? Callaway golf balks are overpriced and have proven to be bad golf balls by My Golf Spy. I think this has changed my faith in your good balk reviews. Were you paid by Cut golf at one point and now they no longer support you? You should review Piper golf balks and the Union golf balls

Nope. Never been paid by cut. Remember. This list is for an entire golf lineup. That means every golf ball. The cut red is an amazing golf ball, and is definitely worth the hype. However the Cut blue and cut gray are mediocre at best. I do really like the cut DC, but not as much as the red.
So only hitting on two out of four golf balls isn't enough. There's also an another issue. In the last year and a half, there have been thousands of reports of the cut red having cover issues. People just hitting the golf ball in the cover coming off. So the quality control has gone down it cut quite a bit. It also makes me nervous that cut has not released anything new and over two and a half years. They haven't released a ball update and over 3 and 1/2 years. It's just tough to give them a spot on the list when it seems like they're not really trying anymore. The cut red will still always be a top golf ball for me. But if they want to make the list as a company they need to shape up a little.
My golf spy and myself are testing two totally separate things. They are testing golf balls to see how perfectly circle they are and for weight distribution. I'm not testing any of that. They also test with a robot for 115 mile an hour swing speed. I'm just an average golfer with an average swing speed hitting into a net. I honestly don't care one bit if my golf balls are slightly not circle, or occasionally you get one lemon out of a dozen. What I care about is whether or not the golf ball lowers my score. Whether or not it forgives me on miss hits. Callaway golf balls have had an incredible year for that with me.
I am working on reviewing Piper soon. I have currently tested the Union golf balls, and although I haven't posted the review yet, I can tell you the numbers aren't even close to impressive.

I did have them in number four a year ago based on the testing I had at the time.
Great catch by the way. However do keep in mind that the other list was not "worst" golf balls. It was overrated. Like I said in that video, I golf ball can be good but just overrated
