After some research, I decided & bought a pair of Under Armour Tribase Reign 6's over a pair of Nike Metcon 9s. Yesterday, I had my Back Day and man, everything that Jake said in the video was true. I did heavy conventional deadlifts (went up to 375lbs), elevated barbel rows and to check the potential of the shoe, I did 2 sets of barbell forward lunges. The shoe performed really well and been a great assert. With being comfortable and super supportive to lift heavy weights, this shoe stands in the Top 5 in CrossFit shoes. Hi, new here to the channel, starting at the gym soon and looking for a lifting shoes and now I'm between this and the adidas t2s, this one is way cheaper here in Brazil vs the adidas so I'm rlly inclined to grab these
I got the 5s for 30% off a few months ago. By far the best cf training shoe. My only gripe is I prefer 4/5mm drop. I like the comfort and flexibility. My second favorite training shoes are strike movement haze trainers. Looking forward to trying these out.
@@thatfitfriend how would you suggest sizing between the 5s/6s? Almost all my shoes are 11. For the Reign 5 I went with half size smaller 10.5? Thanks!
How does the width of these compare to the nano 2.0s? I currently have those and altras that are the same size, but I have to go to a wide (2E) for a brooks adrenaline running shoe
Thanks for the sudden hype of Reebok Nano recently, causing the shortage of sizing. I have decided to go with this shoe. Simply it's also cheaper and toe box feels a little wider compared with nano x4. But I prefer the arch support on nano.
these or dropset 3's for primarily lifting with some agility explosive work? I have the Reign 5's and like them but a little worried these are "less" of a lifting shoe. If the Reign 5's are fine for my jumping/explosive work are the dropset 3's comparable in that regard?
I've had the Inov8 G300s for about a year now ( got them because I was developing some ankle tendonitis). I was thinking about getting a pair of these next. Would you say these are better?.. in general and for someone who has gotten mild PTTD.
My thought...if you like the G 300 and they've been working, stay the course. No need to change what's been working. If they haven't been working, lmk, then we can discuss!
@@thatfitfriend I see i see, so I dont have super wide feet but I feel like the G300 mid area may be a little too narrow for my feet. I think my PTTD is coming back because I have been getting slight flares up or subtle aches in my arch area (not really flatfooted). I've been wearing them for almost a year now so I'm not sure if it's the sneaker or me. I should note that I have been wearing the G300 pretty much every time I went to the gym, leg day or not. The insoles seem flat so idk if that plays a factor as well.
Idk if it was just the pair that I got from under armour, but they felt like the material for the upper was already stretched out if that makes sense. I think it's just not enough structure to the upper for me. I have narrow feet, one slightly less so than the other, and wonder if that's why. Definitely returning them sadly
Would you recommend these for a wide neutral foot, I tend to roll from out to in, mainly weight training but as of late have started to dabble in some interval/HIIT training, with the occasional run. Currently running a pair of new balance fresh foam and I’ve got tibialis posterior shin splints.

Hi, I’m in between sizes and noticed you said you have about 1/2 to an inch room in the toebox. I normally wear 9.5-10 with a normal width foot. Which size should I go with? Thanks in advance!
Hello bro. I’m between them, X4 and Dropset 2/3. A little bit of everything, I know X4 are better for that but I don’t like the look of the shoe. Are there any close to the reebok? Thanks a lot for the videos. Keep on the good work. 😎
I’m looking for a shoe that I can do squats, lunges, any lift in, take to trails, and run on treadmills. Would you recommended this shoe or is there a better choice?
which high tops do you recommend for crossfit , i have used nike High top SBs which i love but would like something new. NO BULLS i have also , but with the no pulll tabs i let them collect dust . Please help .
Personal preference, tbh. Most like a plusher ride, but others like denser shoes and feels. Impossible to say which is always more comfortable because I don't know what you prefer and don't want to just share my bias!
I have a question about the ankle area of the shoe: is it completely straight or does the rubber band decline towards the ankle? (Like the ua commit 4) Thanks for the review btw.
Which do you think is the best for the following use case: standing/walking mostly with some occasional jogs (4-5x/week, 1-3 miles/session) with some lifting (squats/deadlifts/compound moves). Someone with a wider foot and like Altras for their wide toe box and 0 heel to toe drop Debating between your reviews on: Adidas Rapidmoves Innov-8 F-Fly UA Reign 6
Debating my next pair of shoes. Between these (UA Tribase Reign 6) and the Tyr CXT1 Wide trainers, which do you recommend next (specifically for hybrid training and big weights for my wide feet)?
Both are solid, but v diff feels with their drops. 2mm vs 9mm is a pretty big diff for feel. What do you prefer? More heel or less? I'd decide based on that!
@@thatfitfriend Makes sense. I figured it would come down to the stack height and heel-to-toe drop. Tyr sounds better for squats and such given ankle and hip mobility while the Reign might be better for deadlifts and versatility (unless I’m backwards with some of the speculation). Just didn’t know which would be better for wide feet. All else fails, I’ll just get both eventually so I can feel them out and cycle through different shoes for different workouts as you have recommended as I have been doing. Thanks, dude!
@@suede2009 Not backwards one bit! I think once you play with the two types of shoes you'll also learn which you tend to bias and enjoy more, too! Let me know which you go with and how you like them!
Just tried it. What can I say. Really really solid shoes. Before my workout session I just measured my old metcons 7 and compared it to reign 6. Initial thought - Metcons are still good, even after 3 years of use and the upper grips feet very well, the feet feels safe and locked. Compared insoles - practically identical, but there is a bit more place for toes in reign 6. But Metcons has very stiff heel and the shoe can't be all-arounder because of it. What about the reign 6? The grip of the rubber sole is incredible, much better than metcons 7. The upper grip is good, but it does not lock feet as metcons to be fair. Did some back squats with 140kg - feels good, pretty stable, did some box jumping - works very nice, almost like basketball shoes. Will try on a treadmill, but I feel that's gonna be good, better than Nike Legend Essential 3 for sure. Thank you Jake for the recommendation, I'm really happy with my choice :)
Your toes seem to overhang a bit on the sides of the insole. Does your big toe touch the side or the end of the shoe? I've been trying to avoid toe touch as much as possible when buying shoes, and doing so sometimes pushes me into the "too much volume" territory
Not really. Tbh, I don't always love doing the insole shot because it's not always reflective of true width when you consider upper and how the foot compresses when you put weight on it/take the overhead shot. I find that I have plenty of room in this shoe and haven't blatantly noticed any friction or rub! What do you currently wear/how do they fit?
Could be. Are you competitive? If so, have you considered other models that are a bit more optimized for powerlifting? Also, do you squat in flats, trainers, or weightlifting shoes?
@thatfitfriend yup I'm competitive. I just want them for deadlifts. Is squat in lifters. I'm mainly asking because in my country these are more Easley accessible than specific powerlifting shoes like notorious or Avancus
👍🏻awesome detailed review!!!! gonna get them as i have tried different shoes for functional outdoor training with macebell, kettlebell & clubbells. I have used adidas supernova - they are better for just running, vans range exp - not too bad yet they are just good for walking, nike downshifter - horrible experience. i still do not want to go into the trend of vivo barefoot shoes. so i am gonna try these ones they seem like they can get me what i need
@@thatfitfriend yep, i got them, it took me some time to figure out the right size & already have done my first outdoor bands & macebell/clubbell workout. found them very comfy, stable, offering a good sole grip for functional & rotational moves. yep. it's been the right choice definitley & they were on 40% off 🙂
My only gripe is the volume. I find myself wanting to try and pull the tongue upwards, only to find it doesn’t need to be. Other than that I love its versatility.
@@thatfitfriend I can’t help but wonder if that was done intentionally, or if was it a miscalculation based on the drop-in midsole. It seems weird to widen the toe box yet reduce the volume.
@@jmoak311 yeah, I’m not sure. I appreciate the dual-functionality but I highhhlyyyy doubt that was the rationale 😂 Prob just a miscalc since this is a first pass at this style of reign
Thanks for introducing me to these sick kicks, Jake. They're now my all-time favourite for both training & daily wear, & I own 4 different colourways. 😂 These sports shoe companies really ought to sponsor you or somethin', considering the amount of revenue you must create for them. 💪
Ayyy, love hearing that! Nooo - don't want sponsorships, that creates biases in reviews. You see it with big media who have allegiances and negotiate product placements/positive reviews. Best thing would be maybe collabing on a shoe one day orrrrr building my own shoe/opening a store to host all of these models All in due time, homie!

Jake, Have you done a review of insoles? I keep getting the Z-Liner insoles (hexagonal grid) advertised in my feeds. Seems like a bouncy, thicker insole could replace the drop-in midsole here to give more midfoot volume.
I haven't but now I'm thinking I should try some. It's an ask I receive a lot and want to add more depth for when folks ask...I'll add these to my watch list! Thank you!
Hey Jake! I typically commute quite a long way in whatever shoes I'm training in. Can you suggest some good options for a good all-round lower drop shoe - ideally with some toe-spring - but that's max/decently waterproof!? I'm thinking NoBulls etc, but the waterproof aspect is really important to me. I often coach after training so I'm stood around in the same pair of shoes for a long time,
I've enjoyed my NOBULL High-Top Trainers for that ask and they're easy to clean. Idk many other modern-day trainers that would hit that easy-to-clean/waterproof ask for you. STR/KE and RAD are my faves for casual wear, but def wouldn't deliver in inclement weather, imo
Awesome! There've been other shoes I've loved wearing - Including two pairs of RADs and two pairs of the older Reebok Speed TR Flexweave. I'm almost looking for a mid-point between those two tbh, with as much durability and weatherproofing as possible. The NoBulls - namely the Geo Court trainers (maybe the new Hightop version) - seem like they could fit the bill... Let me know your thoughts man 🤔 - it's super helpful! I'm thinking they're likely less 'harsh' than the OG Trainer - and I prefer their aesthetic over the Trainer+/Impact variants(??)
Currently, I have the UA Tribase Reign 3, and I am very satisfied with them. Unfortunately, their lifespan is slowly coming to an end, and I'm looking for new shoes. I've tried on most CrossFit shoes, but I'm close to buying the UA Tribase Reign 5. After watching your video, I started considering the Tribase Reign 6. Do you think it would be a better choice than the 5? Also, a question about the size. What size do you usually choose to feel comfortable? For me, 46 is slightly tight, and 47 is too loose.
If you can find a sick deal on the 5s save the monies and go 5. They're a solid shoe! Plus, you can always cop the 6s down the road when they go on sale. I like my shoes to fit a little snugger without toe jamming. I don't love when I feel like I'm sliding around or swimming in my models
hi, i am looking to buy one shoe that are good for everything (daily use, crossfit and regular gym) do u think the tribase 6 is better than naxo x4/x3 or metcon 9? I have the metcon 4, and the shoe doesent fit my feet on the side, i try using it and after 10 minutes working out the side of my feet was in total pain hahaha. I allready have a good shoe for runing, and looking for that propurse. Here in brasil theses shoes cost alot, so keep that in mind :)
I have had the UA Tribase Reign 3,4,5 and now 6. I really like the clean design and sock like fit of the 3 with the only flaw being the extremely Long laces. The 4 became wider, looser, heavier, and more clunky….I now wear them to mow the yard. I was hoping for an improvement with the 5 but they introduced an asymmetrical curve of the laces that looks like something went wrong. Now I have the 6 and I love them! Low stack height, minimum drop, firm but well cushioned, comfortable upper with proper laces. I am tempted to buy a second pair and just keep them in the box until my first pair wears out.
I usually destroy my shoes on standing calf raises machines that’s why I buy converse Do you think this bad body gonna handle the forefoot pressure? 💪🏼
I love the BOOMERANG insole from Inov-8. Outside of those, I don't really have other insoles I go out of my way for. I just rock whatever I enjoy from my other training shoes!
Hey, I am a beginner athlete, currently doing 210 pounds of deadlifts, and 80 pounds weighted squats, i have wider feet, i weigh 223.1 pounds, i do basic functional exercises, weight training, some light cross fit, planks, calf raises , lateral squates and stuff Which shoe which u recommend for me UA project rock 6 or Tribase Reign 6. please help
Thank you for the review. I am a die hard Metcon fan, but they didn’t really impress me with the new model, the design is not great (in my opinion) and reviews aren’t great either, which is disappointing. I wanted nobull but it’s a bit expensive to get them and ship to South Africa. So, I ordered the Reign 6 today to try something new! Let’s see how it goes!
Choose based on the following: Metcon 9 if you need them primarily for lifting/CF and want a slightly wider toe box, Reign 6 if you're big on a flatter feeling shoe with more flexibility throughout/slight edge for cross-training
@thatfitfriend It delivered! I tried but with the midsole, It's too tight on my feet. I changed the midsole and it fit perfectly fine. Should I use it like that? Does it affect the long term use of shoes? And On Amazon 1 size up is not available right now.
They are really good so far, I like the midsole, feels very comfortable. The upper part gets bit tight but keeps your foot secured. Nice and fexilbe sole. I'd definitely keep using them 👍🏻
I felt more comfortable in the 4s and the 5s to be honest, more secure in a way. Not that the 6s are bad just maybe not up the taste of everyone... I do keep using them, making rotations
Depends what you want. If you like flatter and more flexible shoes, then yes! Dropset is better if you want a little more heel and like a more traditional training shoe feel
Please help me out. I got the reign 5 for US 8.5 but in time I found them to be too snug. If i'll buy the 6s, should i size up or just stay true to size since the toe box is wide?
I'd go these, buttttt I like minimalist feeling shoes. I think for most, both models will be awesome so objectively speaking - idt you can go wrong with either. If you like flatter/minimalist trainers, go Reign, if you like more drop and built-out shoes, go Nano :)
Great review, Jake ! With the larger outsole surface area, do you think the white & gums would stay cleaner for longer compared to other white trainers 😂 The warp material seems pretty resistant to scuffs, what about the newer material on the 6’s ? And have you seen any other cokourways IRL that you like ? UA’s website are notoriously bad for the product pics reliability! 😂
6s have been solid so far with scuffs! My Fuse 3s are scuffed from tests, but the Reign 6s have been fine, for example. Black/Gum and White/Gum are my faves...and I know...they need to GTFO with those 3D renders and use real product shots. It's legit the only reason they get bad reviews on their site, LOL

Depends, though. 500-miles for certain running shoes, sure. Some running shoes are actually less depending on the intent. Training shoes can also vary GREATLY since it's hard to accurately track 500 miles per se. I use different shoe breakdown signals in trainers for when to replace instead of miles, for example.
The fit of this shoe is too narrow. I bought the one with the yellow back. When this shoe didn't fit, I ordered the color in this video. I hope they fit. I recommend buying one size bigger.

How does the width of these compare to the nano 2.0s? I currently have those and altras that are the same size, but I have to go to a wide (2E) for a brooks adrenaline running shoe
They'll feel a smidge narrower, imo, but should still fit you I feel
Thanks for the sudden hype of Reebok Nano recently, causing the shortage of sizing. I have decided to go with this shoe. Simply it's also cheaper and toe box feels a little wider compared with nano x4. But I prefer the arch support on nano.
Yeah, v diff lasts for sureeeee.
Does the top of the toe box wear quickly because the rubber sole doesn't wrap over the top?
It shouldn’t. Generally the WARP does a good job with abrasion resistance!
Hi Jake, I have a rollable ankles and I am struggling during crossfit. Will this support?
Ehh, these will have a lower-profile ankle. I'd look into the Nano X3 or TYR CXT-1 Trainer as they have slightly more rigid ankle/boot constructions!
these or dropset 3's for primarily lifting with some agility explosive work? I have the Reign 5's and like them but a little worried these are "less" of a lifting shoe. If the Reign 5's are fine for my jumping/explosive work are the dropset 3's comparable in that regard?
Both would be solid, imo! Think you’d be happy either way and I’d go with the model with the best price point/colorway for ya
These are one of the most acquired taste shoes in 2024, imo! At least now you know these are a miss for ya
Hey Jake, what’s your measurement from toe to heel? Very much appreciate your reply
I'm around 10.5 inches give or take a bit based on my eyeballing of the measuring tape!
Would you recommend these for a wide neutral foot, I tend to roll from out to in, mainly weight training but as of late have started to dabble in some interval/HIIT training, with the occasional run.
Currently running a pair of new balance fresh foam and I’ve got tibialis posterior shin splints.
Heck yeah, stoked to hear that!

Hi, I’m in between sizes and noticed you said you have about 1/2 to an inch room in the toebox. I normally wear 9.5-10 with a normal width foot. Which size should I go with? Thanks in advance!
I'd go 10!
For you, which one would be better to do CrossFit? The Reign 6 or the Nike Metcon 9
@@giuseppeaulestia9203 I like the reign 6 more personally! But I was an older metcon fan so the 9 just feel meh

How long do you plan to run on trails/the treadmill?
Probably no more than 2 miles.

Hello. For daily walk (non-sport), which is more comfortable, lifting shoes like BSR3 or running shoes like Hovr Machina?
Personal preference, tbh. Most like a plusher ride, but others like denser shoes and feels. Impossible to say which is always more comfortable because I don't know what you prefer and don't want to just share my bias!
@@thatfitfriend do you have any recommended shoes for a long daily walk then? from brand UA and Asics
I have a question about the ankle area of the shoe: is it completely straight or does the rubber band decline towards the ankle? (Like the ua commit 4) Thanks for the review btw.
I think I know what you're saying. It declines a bit and the cup doesn't run directly vertical. It won't be as pronounced as the Commit 4.
dropset trainer2 or reign 6 , which one will you pick for powerlifting style training?
Both are sick, but I'd go Dropset 2!
Which do you think is the best for the following use case: standing/walking mostly with some occasional jogs (4-5x/week, 1-3 miles/session) with some lifting (squats/deadlifts/compound moves). Someone with a wider foot and like Altras for their wide toe box and 0 heel to toe drop
Debating between your reviews on:
Adidas Rapidmoves
Innov-8 F-Fly
UA Reign 6
Thanks for your help! I will get the F-Fly’s
Llevo 6 meses entrenando con estas zapatillas, son la mejor compra. Me compraré un 2do par de zapatillas de otro color, las amo ❤.
That’s awesome to hear!
How would you say the toe box width compares to the PRIMUS TRAIL II FG?
Trail is wider throughout and at the tip of the toe box! Base of the forefoot is kindddd of similar but Vivo still takes the edge there.
Heck yeah, love this analysis and feedback! Stoked you're enjoying them
Your toes seem to overhang a bit on the sides of the insole.
Thinking of getting these for powerlifting. Do you think its a good idea?
How about Tribase Reign 6 vs. Metcon Free 6?
Reign 6 for lifting and CrossFit / Free Metcon 6 for short runs and HIIT
👍🏻awesome detailed review!!!! gonna get them as i have tried different shoes for functional outdoor training with macebell, kettlebell & clubbells. I have used adidas supernova - they are better for just running, vans range exp - not too bad yet they are just good for walking, nike downshifter - horrible experience. i still do not want to go into the trend of vivo barefoot shoes. so i am gonna try these ones they seem like they can get me what i need
Heck yeah, keep me posted on how you like them!
@@thatfitfriend yep, i got them, it took me some time to figure out the right size & already have done my first outdoor bands & macebell/clubbell workout. found them very comfy, stable, offering a good sole grip for functional & rotational moves. yep. it's been the right choice definitley & they were on 40% off 🙂
is the performance good for cross-fit running? like, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, even 1.4km.
Yeah, they'll feel a smidge heavy, but they can work for those distances!
My only gripe is the volume. I find myself wanting to try and pull the tongue upwards, only to find it doesn’t need to be. Other than that I love its versatility.
Yeah, that’s my concern for some with these, too. That’s also why I like taking the insole out for some sessions and getting a barefoot feel
@@thatfitfriend I can’t help but wonder if that was done intentionally, or if was it a miscalculation based on the drop-in midsole. It seems weird to widen the toe box yet reduce the volume.
@@jmoak311 yeah, I’m not sure. I appreciate the dual-functionality but I highhhlyyyy doubt that was the rationale 😂
Prob just a miscalc since this is a first pass at this style of reign
I had to go back to my 5’s for a while, and am so glad to have the 6’s back. I really missed the extra width and flexibility!

Jake,
Have you done a review of insoles?
The laces aren't round anymore? 😳

I allready have a good shoe for runing, and looking for that propurse.

@@thenoblesavage Sounds like someone with a shoe review site should make some sick insoles for training and lifting...
@@cmoorhead1 Nice, how will you compare them with other ZERO drop barefoot shoes like Vivo/etc ?
Do you recommend them for powerlifing?
They're not bad, def not as optimized as other models, but if you're solely looking at cross-training shoes for that ask then they'll be fine!
I usually destroy my shoes on standing calf raises machines that’s why I buy converse Do you think this bad body gonna handle the forefoot pressure? 💪🏼

What do you refer drop in the midsole? 🤔
Drop-in midsole is the thicker insole in this shoe. It's an insole that serves/doubles as the shoe's midsole, too
Metcon 9 vs tri base reign 6?
Choose based on the following: Metcon 9 if you need them primarily for lifting/CF and want a slightly wider toe box, Reign 6 if you're big on a flatter feeling shoe with more flexibility throughout/slight edge for cross-training

Do they have a wide toe box?
Decently wide. Works fine for me E/EE width feet and others have reported liking the width
My orthopedist says 500 miles and a shoe is worn out. He is a runner and does some crossfit and a health fanatic
For wide feet?
Depends how wide! They’re decent for E/EE widths but will fall short past that
