And in this corner we have "another" Acer Nitro 5 gone bad. Good fix Sorin and good luck for this customer with no CPU/GPU fault. I did have a bad feeling though when I seen the 4 amp bolt of lightening, had me thinking the luck just left the building lol. Great videos as always and thanks for the upload. 👍👍
Wow, that was cool! I must have played that back 6 times - never saw an smd cap blow, lightning bolt & all. ⚡😁 I was waiting to see it replayed in slomo.🍕 Nice.
I accidentally installed an electrolytic backwards in a negative voltage rail. Powered up the board and it exploded straight in my face 😂 Luckily it missed my eyes but it still scared the crap out of me.
I am watching this to see what its like when a capacitor blows, I think a capacitor blew up on my new expensive graphics card last Sunday, there was a puff sound and then smoke out the side, the card was only two weeks old. I took it back to the shop and they put it in there test rig and it smoked on there too. I was lucky my psu shut the pc down when it happened, i took the card out immediately, it did not feel warm or anything, and installed a old card and my pc was ok what a relief. Chris
Hey it would be even more intresting to see Sorin fit replacement Capacitors like would he purchase new ones or simply cannibalise similiar items from an stock of scrap materials in so doing replacing with age related items this is common in the auto industry as it helps keeps costs down...So intresting to see how Sorin would go about this particulary since capacitors don't really wear or degrade much when in use.
ey bro sometimes we just take them in what can we do, some brings in a laptop broken both hinges all sides and even the top cover too but we just charge them we are working
IT'S GOOD FOR YOU THAT WAS AN EASY JOB SIR HOWEVER I REALLY LIKE THE VIDEOS OVER 30 MINUTES AND UP BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR GREAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS WITH US SO REALLY THANK YOU SIR YOU'RE SUCH A GOOD AND RARE PERSON
If without schematic, which value will you put? I would remove the last big capacitor, measure it and put 3 new capacitor but not sure because they could have been different from each other.
Sorin when you checked resistance after removing the first capacitor it was around 100 ohms, isnt that low for the main power rail? probably that was the sign that something will blow up.

Please, with the oscilloscope visualize the ripple of the supply voltage with and without the capacitor, make the measurement in the vicinity of the capacitor.
Hello Mr Sorin from Sydney Australia. I'm left wondering how many capacitors can be removed without damaging effects from forward current bias, in other words; Leaving gaps in traces? 🇦🇺💫 P.s after repair should I reduce inrush V and Amps then slowly increase to 19V and 4 amps.⚡
Buna ziua domnule Sorin! As dori să vă trimit un laptop Lenovo Ideapad care nu pornește si nici nu da semne ca încarca, cum fac plata si unde va pot trimite?
Nice sparks lol thanks Sorin great repair, I could see your mouth watering already for your pizza but I’m sure Diana would cook something better then a pizza all day long, does she still have her cooking page I cant find it anywhere 😊
I have exactly this type sir acer nitro 5 i managed to change the second power mosfet and everything was working but after i assembly and plug the charger it never responded and was immediately shorted to the ground with zero ohms now all capacitor inside the Mainboard were all shorted and i know it just one that is making all to be shorted and non of the two power mosfet were shorted because the short is from the Mainboard i have no thermal camera sir what do you suggest i should do sir. Thank you, sir. I'm a big fan from 🇫🇷France 🇫🇷 sir.
It never ceases to amaze me just how many times that capacitors go short circuit and can take other components with them. At least Sorin will now get his Pizza's.🍕🙂👍
I came for the pizza.... double cheese on my bit please! I wish I was smart enough to learn a bit more from the video, but I think I am a little bit wiser (if in doubt, think pizza and thermocam)
In sha Allah Nearly Iwill become my country Sorin, thank you man good heart, best vedio no Editing no noise song mature vedio,am following for more than 4 years
You have to replace the capacitors cause the one left received water and it will eventually explode and only one capacitor is not enough! At least two! And i would replace the one left that received water too! Even if it works, it won't work for long if you leave it like that!
It Looks Good?! Apart from a missing fan, water damage and a crack capacitor it's all fine!! 😂🤣😂🤣 It was only a matter of time before a Capacitor took it's revenge on you!!
Just my thoughts Sorin. 1. 3:13 - Should have checked, cleaned, replaced and reflowed all components in this area, checked mosfet and power rails if shorted. 2. 6:12 - Result of not doing 1.
this guy is a troubleshooting machine ..but i don't like his way of fixing the problem .. most of the capacitors at the effected area need to be changed ..
Who came here just to see a capacitor blowing up? 🤣🤣
We're here for the whole video😊
@@rostomzerrougui yeah, for sure! Evidently it was a joke 😉
yes, I must say.... I expected that.... but pizza anyway ;-)
Loool!
LoL. 😂
You are a genuine man. It's a pleasure to learn electronics from you.♥♥
Damn, from a repair shop without the screws and a fan ....... nice...!!! Great video.
When you removed the capacitor the multimeter was reading around 120ohm resistance which is not normal ... something else was partially shorted
9:35 "no capacitor -> no shorted capacitor, right?"
another way of saying there wouldn't be a replacement for that cap🤣🤣
6:12 there...just for the explosion

Ooo..Its why im using glasses😎
Sometimes it's good to wear safety glasses when working on electronics, that heatsink acted as a shield lol

A mosfet blew up when I was trying to fix a lenovo x300... Multimiter started flying in the room 🤣
You’re such funny.😂
That was a proper laptop!
I can't believe that another technician sent you a device in that condition for you to check!!! LOL 😂😂😂
People not wiping their filthy laptops before sending it for repair makes no sense for me. How are you not embarrassed?
I used to get filthy laptops all the time, it never ceased to amaze me, I would wipe them down every time.
🙏👌👍😂😁😀

Nice and lucky repair😊👍🏻Only 1 q...What about prolly 2R2 rezistor next to the IC? Not looking good🤔Thank U for the video😊

It is so cool that you enjoy the repair, we enjoy watching this video and learning a few tricks...

"I can feel the smell"
what's that powered screwdriver you use?
What a nice EZ Pizza fix!... Spot on!...
Wowww!!! Sorin is worried about a Mosfet and will replace a capacitor????.....I have to seat back and take a pill....jajajaja
Did the customer “stage” this to test you? There seemed to be fresh rosin and solder under the chip adjacent to the capacitors that failed.
Could be coffee, tea, or soda residue. From whatever the liquid was that entered through the keyboard.
Nice sparks lol thanks Sorin great repair, I could see your mouth watering already for your pizza but I’m sure Diana would cook something better then a pizza all day long, does she still have her cooking page I cant find it anywhere 😊
WoOoOoOoW
very nice repair 🤩

I think that all caps should be replaced there, even 2 that seems to be OK

Just my thoughts Sorin.

better that you remove that old cap as well it doesn't look good new ones will be better.
