Ok, let's get to the facts:
-23 years old karting driver with 15 years of experience, gets thrown off the race by an accident.
-He then tries to throw a kart part into the driver who took him off.
Alright, he was in anger. But he's 23 and have 15 years of experience, which driver who has so many years of experience would do the same act? Is he not used to accidents in motor sports?!
After the race, he had enough time to cooldown and apologize for his 5 y/o behavior, but no, he decided to assault the driver.

Yeah, this goes far beyond being a mere Maldonado. Ippolito's DSQ suggests that the CIK is not being entirely truthful and that he did do something wrong in advance. Nothing would ever justify what Corberi did, but considering he was in with the likes of Stroll and Russell back in the day I reckon that, if he'd done stuff like this before, we would've heard about it by now, especially after this incident was filmed and revealed. Worse yet, this happened in an event that he entered seemingly for fun after a break from 2017 to 2020, and he was only mid-pack when the collision happened, so it's not like there should've been anything at stake here.
I'm going with a combination of 2 factors: mental issues (owing in no small part to having an utterly psycho father) and Ippolito crashing into Corberi on purpose.

I was a race director at my local track for over 15 years. I have also been involved with the FIA/ASN western Canada Championship. If this happened at my track, he would have been kicked out for throwing the nose pod and fined. For the attack after the race, he would be banned from any future events and I would start the process of getting his license revoked. Just pitiful.

Hi there, i wanted to share a story with you guys wich happend to me back in 2019 i was 12 years old at the time and taking part in a local karring championship ( it is a small town so no tv broadcasts or anything ) so there was this guy who joined in the championship. I must say he looked alot like mazepin spinning all the time but since then he has imporved, anyway the championship starts, and 3/10 laps in he suddenly is right behind me ( me being p5 and he p6 ) and there was a nice hairpin comming up, so i did what any karting driver would do, try to defend , so once at the hairpin, the guy goes round the outside and i had the inside, as he is comming out of the turn, he all of a sudden moved to the inside line, hitting me in the back causing me to spin out. I was very sad that day, but what cheered me up was his sportmanship, right after the race he came to me with some fries at my garage and apoligized and we shook hands and now he is my best friend... It was a pretty crazy experience hitting the wall that hard ( there is not alot of runnof area ). So thats my story i wanted to share with youguys, i could've also decided to throw a part of my kart at the dude but i didnt😄 thanks for reading tho.

After the race I topped the leaderboard, and unsurprisingly my brother was mad that his little brother beat him on his special day, and like any 14 year old that thinks he's hot shit, he decided to fight me (Back then I played Rugby and was just as big as him so I kicked his ass.) After the race, once i've been called by the sporting judges, I've asked them to take my licence away because I was fully conscious about my irreparable mistakes, but as they showed me, they don't have the power for doing it, it's written in the international rules, so please, don't be against them, they were just doing their work in the best way they could. For this reason I've decided to don't take part to any other motorsport competition for the rest of my life, that's not a self justice, it's simply the right thing to do. My family has been in karting since 1985, we've seen it grow, we've seen the best and the worst part of it. This episode will be remember as one of the worst in our sport and that's something I'll never forget.
I'm not asking any indulgence, because I don't deserve it. I will totally agree with the punishments required.
I'm writing today to say sorry even if it's not enough, because after all the bad things that happened during this event, the worst ever has been done by me, a guy who love this sport and after the worst day of his life will still remember his good racing memories. Thank you"

@Lord Mahaveer Maldonado Conspiracy theory - the boy was forced into karting by his father, and felt he had no way to make anything of his life other than karting, which he secretly hates. The only way he could escape his father's pressure was by getting banned from the sport by some other authority.
Therefore, he thought of the most illegal thing he could do and waited for an opportunity to make it appear caused by anger. When he got driven off, he had planned to throw something on the track, so he grabbed the only piece of debris from his own cart and threw it believably, but ineffectively, on the track.
Fearing that would not be enough, he then proceeded to start a fight in the pits - not actually injuring anyone, but making sure his behavior was inexcusable.
Later, he finds out that the relevant authorities can't actually ban him for life, and has to paint himself into a corner - tying his father's business reputation to his very public, very loud promise never to kart again.
He then goes on to chase his dream, his scheme successful. Whether his father is aware of his scheme or not, his career is unsalvageable, and therefore his future is his own.

@BallersKingdom Have you ever raced karts? I’m not talking about those rental karting places but the two stroke karts and especially shifter karts, they’re fucking intense some F1 drivers even say shifter karts are more physical than F1. The races are always intense and really it’s just a lot of fun, obviously all of the drivers in karting wanted to race cars but who knows maybe because they dont have money ( one the of world champions right now said thats pretty much the reason why they cant get into cars ) or they just race to have fun. Some drivers also coach other karts and help the kart manufacturers develop their kart. Another reason is that karting is the easiest type of motorsport to get into, if you have a kart and the track is open you can practice with just a few preparations unlike cars.

That's soul crushing. Granted it's hard to let an incident go when adrenaline is flowing, we've all been there, but it's very dangerous to retaliate.

Be honest, this incident reminds me of a video from a motorcycle road racing event in Indonesia (I forgot which city hosted the event) that went viral in 2017. In that video one of the riders who wears a high visibility vest was crashed into the barrier by another rider until he fell off, and runs away from him. The hapless rider then waited for the rider who dumped him earlier to come around while picking up a sandbag used as the track's barrier, and then throwing the sandbag towards the rider in question once he comes around. I forgot which rider was hit by the thrown sandbag, but the rider which was hit by the sandbag fell off and try to pick up a fight with the rider in the hi-vis vest who threw the sandbag towards him. Eventually those two were disqualified from the event. One glimpse at this incident reminds me of that Indonesian road racing incident, which I think would land a blow similar to Little Boy Atomic Bomb to the respective motorsport discipline.

Jos Verstappen fractured a guys skull in the late 90's over a karting dispute (long before Max). Then theres the allegations and charges from former partners, plus the time his own father Frans dropped charges against Jos.
Wouldn't be suprised there were incidents with Jos during Max's carting career, but all hushed up
Really hope Max can be a different type of guy that his father was, however the Ocon incident in Brazil 2018 has me worried.

Some good rehab for Corberi would be a drive in either Rally or Australian Supercars. Both are hard, rough sports which involve a lot of grit and resilience. Particularly in the Bathurst 1'000 (Today, actually), if you're taken out you don't abuse the other driver/s, you just go into the pits, get fixed up and keep going. Similar for Rally, but you take the damage on the chin. Little too aggressive through a corner and bend your control arm? Get it to the end, that stint won't be your last for the day (unless it's irreparable). Find a stone or tree stump on the road and push your strut tower through your bonnet? Doesn't matter, keep going.
