Due to a copyright issue with the background used in the battery section, I had to trim the video between the 5- and 6-minute marks. While the key information is still intact, I apologize for any disruption during that segment.
Your thoughts and analysis are some of the best in the hobby, not having you on the podcasts is and will continue to be a massive loss, but I can't wait for you to occupy the space on my watchlist with more videos of your own ❤
Great comparison! To me I'd go for the Ally X since it's compared to it's introductory price, but if we can get an Ally for $400-500 or so, then that's another question. For the moment, I'm happy using moonlight and my Odin and not have to worry about configuring all these graphic and TDP settings to save my battery.
In my country the Ally Z1 extreme is for $440 (Including the bank discount offer $35) . Otherwise it's $475. I have purchased it from the Asus website.
I just bought an open box Ally for $352. For an extra $450, the Ally X doesn't make sense at all. Of course, Ally X doesn't have open box yet. And even if it did, it wouldn't be less than about $700, so it's still the same.
Good video and a great point at the end there about who this is for and I’m the guy that was just entering the windows market for the high-end device with the X. I completely love it.
So, a question, is it possible to set up specific power profiles for each game and let the system change between them whenever I start to run the game? Or this can only be changed manually?
Thanks got tired of arguing with people saying its a tremendous upgrade . Yes its nice but not a worthy upgrade if you have the og one. I got the X last week . Yes its been better all around experience but not a 800$ dollar upgrade experience. I put a 2280 990 pro 4 tb in it so now im at a 1200 $ upgrade . Am i happy of course . Should i have waited yes but i felt i was missing out on the better features that should of been in the lauch model last year . Cant wait for the next chipsets either the claw 8 ai plus or the next rog ally or even the go 2 ! 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and yeah it's not a big performance boost more of a streamlining of all the components and a more user friendly experience, the gameplay is smoother and the QL upgrades are very nice but for users that are happy with the og ally the upgrade won't be that dramatic. Until Intel can get their drivers on the same level as AMD I'll be sticking with team red, the next generation of chips looks very exciting.
I'm considering getting the X, do you think it would go on sale for holiday season? I have a steamdeck that I use for retro stuff but would love to have this for college inbetween classes to play games that require more oomph to them.
It'll probably get some kind of discount at best buy but I wouldn't expect any crazy deals on it, if you have access to a best buy and open box ally X is a great option.
If you do egpu video, can you try the finals and cs2? I looked at some videos but performance differs between games drastically. One guy tested with 1070 and 4070 and in some games fps is the same because 4070 is bandwidth limited. I had xg mobile 4080 with my ally but its not stable and performance drops drastically when it gets hot. I would like to buy ally x and try egpu with my 4070ti super and if its good enough get rid of my pc for that. Nice video btw
Hey Im sorry I completely missed this comment, unfortunately the only egpu I have to test with is the radeon 7600 m XT. The 4070ti is going to be bottled necked by USB 4 but it'll still be a good 1440p experience, have you checked the thermal paste on your xg mobile or done any cleaning ?
i sold my OG ally for 400, now goin to best buy to pick up my ally x for 448 after tax and from the og sale..im goin on long flights in the next couple months and need the extra battery life.
If steam deck oled could somehow update the power cap (performance) it would blow the ally x out to me. Because I’m not familiar with handheld windows that’s the only reason I’ve held off on ally x n just sticking to deck oled for now
Unfortunately there's not much more valve can do to squeeze power out of the deck and keep it stable. If you don't want to jump into windows bazzatie on the X turns it into a more powerful deck with the same UI.
They both have the same screen, the prices I listed were retail since I don't think it's fair to compare used to new prices, but yes the first ally is a great deal.
@AishTalksTech sure but the retail price for the Ally is down to 650 new, not 700 anymore. And it's on sale all the time. You should compare the prices right now. The Ally is 500, and the Ally X is 700, both new.
In my opinion the oneXfly is one of the most esthetically pleasing handhelds available today, Ive never owned one but I got to use one for a few weeks and even though the software isn't as good as AC on the Ally it's still one of my favorites.
@@AishTalksTech I agree with you man. The Onexfly is such a pretty machine but the Ally is overall a better experience. I just feel like they missed out on not adding a 16:10 display onto it to close in the top bezels.
@@AishTalksTech Thankfully theres other options for that reason. I feel GPD and OneX are improving the most in these fields. The mainstream ones are great for most things though.
Edit: This is actually a great review. I just felt a little like there was some bias in the comment sections of TH-cam vids more in favor of the Ally X than an IPhone 16. Soon I will have the Ally X bought and paid for with my hard earned money. Internet trolls who think otherwise can go touch grass.
Well it's the same chip at it's core people just got excited because it fixes most of the issues the original Ally had and has some nice improvements, I don't think any I said in the video says otherwise.
@@AishTalksTech I apologize for my original comment. I was just a little ticked off at the time because I felt I couldn’t get such an expensive piece of tech. I’ll be purchasing it in a few days though. I need the upgrade. Battery life is my main gripe with the Ally Z1 Non-Extreme.
I have powerful gaming PC and all consoles and I still want it. Sometimes I want to just play some casual games and sitting on sofa or on the terrace and play some games instead of sitting behind the desk. But SteamDeck did justify that need. So I hope this will change it. I want Windows on my handheld
A lot of people do especially if you're using fsr it'll render the game at a lower resolution like 720p and upscale to whatever you have it set to, that's why I show raw performance at both 720p and 1080p.
People that work away from home or want there pc experience on the go . 7 inch screen at 1080p or 900p looks like 4k cause of pixel density. Also for the price your not gonna get a setup that's comparable especially getting the og z1 extreme for 400$ or less used . Not saying it's the best but it is a great experience wants you get them setup

Used market for ASUS ROG ALLY for £325 for base and £400 for 2tb, it’s such a steal
It really is, it's amazing how much you can play for that price.

I agree for 400-500 the ally is a great deal. To Asus's credit armory crate makes it very simple to adjust TDP.

I have purchased it from the Asus website.
Great review! Although there's not huge difference in FPS at 25w/30w, there's a huge improvement in temperatures!
Thank you!
Yeah the temperatures are way better and gameplay feels smoother ok the Ally X
Picked up an Ally for £300 on ebay basically new condition, seems the best bang for buck of all handhelds as of now.
It really is the Ally does almost everything the X can at a fraction of the cost.

in Indonesia,.. Rog Ally X price is almost Twice Rog Ally gen 1
Oh that's a rough price, but luckily the gen 1 Ally still does most of what the X can.

Got ROG Ally With 2TB SSD and Cetra Wireless ANC headset for 430€. Such a steal.
That's a solid deal

In armory create you can create per game profiles.
