I love to make table runners and placemats. Alot of the time I make them in between quilts. These are cute. Love your tree of life bracelet!! Reminds me of the beach!! Have a great week!
Thank you, I hope you have a great week, too! Thank you for the compliment on the bracelet. I bought two of them, the one you saw and a black one with a heart. Just to let you know, I am planning another table runner video coming up soon. Nothing difficult, just basic and autumn-y!
I love these placemats, Marie. The autumn colors and applique is icing on the cake. The wavy stitches are perfect! These placemats match the leaf potholders. I am having so much fun decorating my kitchen with these autumn colors. Thank you, Marie, keep up the great work!
Hi Tracy! I am so glad that you like this project. I figured that they match with the leaf potholders and the table runner that I did last autumn. Take care and have a great week!
Those are nice and easy placemats. The serpentine stitch is one of my favourite stitches for quilting. I also like how you did the binding, I will give it a try. 😊
Thanks,Marie, I watched your tutorial for the first time and I learned so much: Appreciate that you are taking the plunge to share your experience with us 😊
Thank you, Marie. This was right on time. I just finished your autumn table runner and was looking for a placement project to coordinate and use some of the scraps I created. This is today's project. Love your techniques.
Well hello, and thank you so much for commenting to me, I appreciate that! I’m so glad that you’re enjoying my projects. Last year I had the autumn table runner and the leaf shaped potholder with bias binding, and I figured this kind of matches with it. I hope you have a wonderful week and happy sewing!
Yes, it would work with very well quilt as you go, but I figured there would be more to explain about being careful not to sew too close up to the edge, since we were using the backing as a binding. 🥰
This is a great idea on making placemats!! Love the applique idea. I'm thinking on Christmas placemats and all kinds of applique choices to put on them. Thanks Marie!! ❤
Good morning Laura! Yes, we could do these for so many different seasons, or color and fabric choices. I hope you have a lot of fun with this! Have a wonderful week!
😊I’m greatful for everything you do. You’re so thorough it makes it easy for a newbie like me to follow along. Love the placemats❤ I’ll see about your Facebook too
Hello again! I've seen your name on quite a few videos and that makes me happy to know that you are enjoying my content. I just love scraps and I love making useful items out of them and teaching others to do the same. Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments and for watching! Again, I would like to welcome you to my channel. Happy sewing!
Good morning, Marie. Well, I just finished the Afghan that I was crocheting. Now I'm ready to get back into sewing. I just love Fall. All of the colors of leaves. I have some beautiful fabrics, like you have, to make the Autumn table runner and these beautiful placemats. I think I might make some matching napkins with napkin rings to go with them. I haven't been a subscriber for very long. But I have been going back and watching a lot of your videos. So far everyone that I've watched, I'm saying, I'm going to make that. lol. Thank you so much for sharing your videos.
Good morning Vicki! Yay, you finished your afghan ! I can’t remember if you had mentioned if it was for you or for someone else. I love fall too, and I’m glad that you liked these projects. Last year I made two different leaf potholders, as well as the table runner and this kind of matches with that. Have a wonderful first week of October and happy sewing!
I bet your cousin will love it, thanks for watching, and for letting me know that you enjoyed the project. You’re a sweetheart! Have a wonderful week, Giovanna!
I love your Fall decorations especially the twinkling lights. A favorite season of mine. Great tutorial! I LOVE the fabrics you used. I have been making seasonal placemats or table runners for my family as Christmas gifts for the past few years. I was planning on Fall placemats this year❣️🍂🍁 🍂 THANK YOU so much for showing how to make mitered corners on a self-binding backing! I needed this yesterday!
Thank you so much, I’m still working on my autumn decorations, but at least I got some done, ha ha. I’m glad that this mitered corner binding video was helpful, but now I wish I would have gotten it to you in time for your previous project, by the sounds of it. LOL! I hope you have a wonderful week and happy sewing!
@@MariesScrappyCreations Those things just happen but I was helping my sister self bind a patriotic quilt for her marine vet husband. We worked it out but when I saw your video the next day, I sent her your video and told her where I start watching so that the next time she wants to self bind she has a better method. I am loving your videos now that I found you! Be blessed as you are blessing me❣️
I used to always zigzag with appliqué, and then once I tried the heat and bond, and realized it almost stays on by itself, and then I stitch around it, I love the look. Even if the edges raise up a little bit, the stitching holds everything down. Happy sewing!
Very nice. Love fall. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. Wanted to let you know that I had my knee surgery last week. Dr. Said it was a mess. It's been very painful. So I'll be in physical therapy for about 4 to 6 weeks.
Oh my goodness, Janet. I’m sorry I didn’t respond sooner, but I’m playing catch-up with all my comments. I hope that your knee is healing and that you’re doing well. Do you have someone there to help you? You sad the dr sad your knee was a mess. Did you have problems with i5 for a long t8me before the surgery? They’ve been telling me for 7 years that I need a new knee, but I haven’t yet. Take care!
Yes! I grew up in Houlton, so I definitely know where Patten is! 🥰 My sister lives in Smyrna Mills. Thanks for shouting out and letting me know, I'm so happy you are here!
Hello, and thank you so much for your questions! I should have included that information, so please accept my apologies. When making the placemats, I believe I was using a Schmetz size 12. That is the most common needle that I leave in my machine, since it works well for most projects. When I’m ein something heavier, I’ll put in a 14 or a 16, depending on the thickness of the project. As far as the thread, I believe I used polyester thread on these projects, but I have also used cotton thread without any issue. I tend to use whatever is nearby or matches the fabric the best. The only time I get picky about my thread is if I’m making something like a bowl, cozy that needs to have cotton thread, or possibly a tote bag where I would use polyester because it’s stronger. I hope I answered your questions. 🧵✂️💕🪡
Hi Gina! Here is a link to where I purchased it. I love how hot it gets and the steam... well, I love it all! It's a bit of a heavier iron, but I do adore it because it does what I need it to do. Hamilton Beach Durathon Digital Iron with Retractable Cord. www.walmart.com/ip/25852171
This coming weekend is my craft sale. After that, I will start on Mariesscrappycreations, see what all I can get done for christmas. Thank you for the tutorial, as always, perfectly executed.

Enjoyment & learning achieved! You make such cute & useful items, Marie! Thank you! ❤😊
You are so welcome! I’m glad you liked what I came up with, you’re always so sweet!
Thank you, Marie. I have a table runner with placemats after following your tips. They look beautiful on the table for the season.
Thank you SEW much!! I'm happy to hear about your fall sewing... sounds like you're decorating it all up nice!!
Love your autumn placemats. I do the appliques the old fashioned way, with just glue stick on the back of the appliques. Watched the rerun this time.
Sounds great! Yeah, there are so many different ways to do appliqué. Have a great week, Peg!

This would be perfect for quilt as you go.
Agreed. I’m going to make a Halloween runner soon.

I am so going to dig out my SALSA fabric and do four sets for my daughter and daughters of heart. 🎶💐💖
Oohh, salsa fabric sounds soooo pretty! Please post pictures when you make them, as I would love to see them!

Another excellent project Marie. I have done appliqué before on runners and mug rugs. I use Heat n Bond Lite too. Your runners turned out very pretty.
Thank you so much, Kelley! I love the heat n bond. I used to use glue and other methods, but once I tried this, there was no going back, ha ha.

May I ask what type of thread do you use when you applicate and what size needle are you using on the placemats? They are beautiful !!!
