My first truck tractor as an owner operator was a International with a 318 Detroit and a 4by4 TRANSMISSION married box 2 stick. I got the hang of it pretty good, I jumped out of that into a KW with a 350 Cummins and a Fuller 13 speed I thought I died and went to heaven.
I have a few other trucks than the b61. I have a Peterbilt that has a 318 Detroit , 5 x4 with a Henderson rubber puck rear suspension. I would imagine they would have a hard time finding a person to drive it today.
@@Recommended_by_Fred I am a retired truck mechanic and most driver's now days can't even drive a truck with a 2 speed axle they are rare to see anymore. I have not even seen a 2 stick in a little over 30 years ago and it was a Canadian owner operator. One thing in heavy haul and mountain areas a 5 and a 4 two stick gives you alot more gear combinations for heavy loads. On the other hand these high torque engine's have done away with the need for 2 sticks. I love those B61 Macks I think their most beautiful trucks Mack ever built, you did a great job shifting that B61 nice truck.
@@danhuttinger5040 I’m pretty partial to the old Mack too. I have a b733 with Cummins 262. I’m a diesel mechanic too, I rather be under them than in them…. I like to go home every night and see my family!
@@Recommended_by_Fred I mechanicd for close to 55 years I moved up from the old stuff to the computer stuff I worked on heavy equipment for a few years also. I run a couple of trucks for 3 years I was a dirt hauler then I started my own mobile fleet repair business I worked by my self mostly, I was on my own for 40 years until I shut the business down in 2021 it was really rewarding for me I deffintly made more money working on them than running them. I remember that Cummins 262 was a real popular engine when I was a pup.
@@danhuttinger5040 I have strange Cummins for you. It’s a 275/300 has a super charger on the side of it. I don’t know if it was in a truck or a stationary unit.
I'll bet your camera operator had a rough ride in that buddy seat! Good video.
That would have been Paul. I didn’t know I was being taped for a little bit. I think he would ride across the country if given the chance.

I remember the time i tried to drive that truck with you, i was not good at shifting at all!
This truck should have all the teeth rounded of the gears! This transmission is one of the hardest ones I have driven and I don’t know why.
@@Recommended_by_Fred I'll have to pay you a visit and try again sometime!
Yes you should!!!
