I say he's like Alpha Kurisu because he takes the place of the 'bad guy' Suzuha hates, but it is uncertain if he is even alive by 2036 in the Gamma worldline, as all we know about him is second hand information from Suzuha and what we can guess from Moeka.
Very beautiful and emotional scene. Really, Hououin Kyouma isn't just the man who believes conspiracy theories and blabbers nonsense. Hououin Kyouma is more than that. It's his persona which protects Mayuri, which won't give up, which gives him the courage to move on, which his friends love and help him keep moving forward. (It's also the persona which hides his insecurities) It's the spirit of the lab and essential element of S;G's spirit. Losing it is one of the reasons why S;G 0 is sad, and why Hououin Kyouma's revival is very emotional for the labmems and those who read the VN -atleast me-
When I played the game, the moment he did the first "heh heh" i knew what's going on and saved the game, and then with trembling hand pushed the Enter button.... and darn it, I was so happy! I'd been waiting for this moment since the start of the game! The true Hikoboshi, the hero is back! Omg, I can't help it, gonna rewatch once more...
My favorite part of this scene is when Okabe is announcing Luka, Faris, and Suzuha as lab mems. Luka and Faris smile after their names are said but Suzuha frowns lmao

the hiyajo sephina joke is the only reason why I even like the anime's version, also because it was the long awaited revival of our mad scientist so you cant not like it. But the VN has much better impact in it, mainly because its in the kurisu route and not in the mayuri route
Holy shit this got me pumped, I saw it coming, and when he started laughing...my god, I've never had such chills. Only people who have played through the entire game themselves know that we all waited for this moment from the very beginning, and it took such a long time to get there. Worth it. From sad to mad scientist again!
With the anime over now THIS SCENE IS SO GOOD IN THE VN AND ANIME. BY GOD ITS SO BEAUTIFUL. When i first played this scene, I slowly had to put down my controller and just cry. Cry for about 5-10 minutes in my chair bc i was just so happy to see him back. Seriously the most emotional scene for me. I never felt such genuine happiness as i did then.
So I'm guessing it was this Okabe "Mad Scientist" that sends past Okabe the message about deceiving the world during the real ending playthrough. That's really neat how they tie these two endings together.

Eposide 21 was like a shock for everyone, and it's surely what everyone was waiting for including me for sure, the return of the mad scientist I've been waiting from the first eposide 😭
This is my favourite part of the VN. I also liked the scene where Okabe found out that Daru and Maho rebuild the Phonewave. That fight was an important moment.

Late response but Alpha Suzuha never knew Okabe, only by reputation. She was just a laidback person period. In Beta she has memories of the more moody and PTSD version of Okabe plus she was a child soldier so she has no chill at all.
I like Suzuha. Other people may call her total honesty "transparency", but that trait of hers is what makes her all the more lovable. She's true to herself. She's dignified. She doesn't live like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Oh I know she had to hide her identity before but we all know it, she's been always THAT honest. She may have been selfish in some world lines, but she takes all the responsiblity, she deeply regrets being like that, not that we can blame her, considering her situation during those times. She's hardworking, she's devoted to whatever mission or duty she takes on, she's sweet (especially in Steins;Gate 0), she's amazing. Her figure is even a plus to all that (not that I deny anything). I love her.
It's also of my favorites. Also, according to other scene it seems that the person he talks through the phone is not an organization anymore, but Kurisu.
By the way Im kinda sure Hashida wouldnt mentally made it, and I think that by the 1st season in anime Suzuha went crazy after she couldnt find the computer, and that is not slightly close to Okarins suffering

You know what, I didn't cry when Mayuri is dead, when Kurisu is dead, when Kurisu supported Rintarou to return beta line, when Suzuha's life is revealed and so on, but this scene got me so hard that my tears uncontrollably falled down for so long😢
Come to think of it, how long would be roughly equivalent to the time he was repeating and redoing over and over again (including the times he had to travel back in time to return to this moment since 2025) is it clear that that was months, even years, if that is the case then what would be the mental age of okabe?

Well isn't Steins;Gate 0 basically what we missed between his first trip to save Kurisu and his second trip back in other words, this Okabe and this world is the world where Okabe sends the mail back to him self to give him the courage and knowledge he needed to save Kurisu. Or at least that would be the true ending of this VN even if you don't see it.

Because otherwise that kinda breaks the hole way Suzuha explains it, that it is not the multiverse theory but world lines are just basically probabilities they don't actually exist. But tbh that never made sense, or does each attractor field have it's own reality, and the world lines within those attractor fields are just possibilities which end in the same result. I suppose that is sad in it's own way because both the realities that world war 3 and SERN's subjugation happen still happen and both Kurisu and Mayuri are dead in both those realities. And Okabe has not really changed anything because those realities always existed, or does creating a divergence of more than 1% create a hole new reality.
I'm gonna be honest the True ending of 0 felt kinda weak. It's just him recording the footage for himself in the past (the one you see in the fist game). You see his friends are acting as the film crew and everything while he makes the message. Still, the other endings are all pretty good.
Did you saw the last episode's after credits scene? It almost confirmed that next episode is PR. But if it not enough, the official OST titles also confirmed that PR will be adapted as well as VA!
Don't play the VN; but after seeing various "Japanese Shaman Girls where" videos TH-cam thought it was a good idea to spoil me this scene 5 episodes ago :( Finally became anime today; not disappointed at all by the anime adaptation XD
suzuha mentions how if her or daru had okabes reading steiner ability they would be able to change things no matter the pain or anguish they go through. however i feel she’s wrong. i think okabe is and was the only person who could ever recover from what he saw going inbetween worldlines and failing multiple times to save the ones he loved. i feel even suzuha would have broken mentally after a few tries. i understand that inorder to save the future they needed okabe to try again but for everyone to tell him to get over his pain and that their pain is worse is just wrong. for example lets say steins gate didn’t exist and okabes only options were the alpha or beta world lines. no matter which one he goes to the outcome would be the same. someone he loves dies and the world ultimately ends up in destruction(either sern or ww3) and of course in those worldlines suzuha would reappear asking okabe to fight. it would be an endless loop of chaos and destruction only for okabe seeing everyone else would forget events depending of the world line. so i can see why okabe gave up on trying to save kurisu. but im also glad that mayuri slapped some sense into him and OKabe came to his senses and pushed to find a way into steins gate. cause of course in my opinion kurisu is best girl
Thing is Reading Steiner is not unique to Okabe. Mayuri’s friend, for example, could remember the alpha worldline but it was through recalled memories while she slept (which she considered nightmares since she was always with Mayuri during many of the times she died). Mayuri also had nightmares of dying during the first story, and the true ending of the first game ends with Kurisu remembering her interactions with Okabe in the alpha worldlines.

suzuha mentions how if her or daru had okabes reading steiner ability they would be able to change things no matter the pain or anguish they go through. however i feel she’s wrong. i think okabe is and was the only person who could ever recover from what he saw going inbetween worldlines and failing multiple times to save the ones he loved. i feel even suzuha would have broken mentally after a few tries. i understand that inorder to save the future they needed okabe to try again but for everyone to tell him to get over his pain and that their pain is worse is just wrong. for example lets say steins gate didn’t exist and okabes only options were the alpha or beta world lines. no matter which one he goes to the outcome would be the same. someone he loves dies and the world ultimately ends up in destruction(either sern or ww3) and of course in those worldlines suzuha would reappear asking okabe to fight. it would be an endless loop of chaos and destruction only for okabe seeing everyone else would forget events depending of the world line. so i can see why okabe gave up on trying to save kurisu. but im also glad that mayuri slapped some sense into him and OKabe came to his senses and pushed to find a way into steins gate. cause of course in my opinion kurisu is best girl
Thing is Reading Steiner is not unique to Okabe. Mayuri’s friend, for example, could remember the alpha worldline but it was through recalled memories while she slept (which she considered nightmares since she was always with Mayuri during many of the times she died). Mayuri also had nightmares of dying during the first story, and the true ending of the first game ends with Kurisu remembering her interactions with Okabe in the alpha worldlines.
