If anyone hasn't, please find some way to play 0 because it explains everything that led up to the video Okabe sends himself from the future to save Christina. It's a fantastic game that kept me engrossed until the very end.

Yeah, I didn't think it was fair that these were only able to be seen by Japanese people who played the pachinko game so I was glad to share this with western fans on youtube.
If you really think about it, Daru matured over the years. He didn't abandon Okarin because of his guilt of not saving Mayuri, but his family's safety comes first. It was the right thing for him to do, (although his daughter is destined to go back in 2011 to meet Okarin and die in 2000) so he made the most of it. He could continue the time machine research but his time with his family will be shorter and top of that, the time machine won't be built until 2036. Knowing that outcome, Daru choose to spend more time with his family. Also, Daru is the only character I've seen in weddings who wears a cap.
Try play a RPG game called Harvest Moon Back to Nature. There are 3 men that wearing cap at their wedding (one is stethoscope tho which is more ridiculous)

Maybe if someone uses the Dmail in the future, even if it is not Okabe, it could change the past into a brilliant future, and that could be part of operation Valkyrie too. I hope we can see more of this history in the future.

this is not the steins;gate world line. This is where the alternate route where okabe chose to save kurisu. Then kurisu was forced to work for SERN to create a time machine. That might triggers again the world war III. then suzuha will travel back to past to prevent world war III and also to convince okabe to reach the world line they believe "steins;gate".
They all have different levels of what you'd consider canon. The faris, mayuri, and suzuha ones are from the VN so they're canon. The kurisu and moeka ones are from drama cds so they're not exactly considered canon but sidestories that add to the main story. And this daru one is based off of the light Novel "Steins;Gate The Distant Valhalla".

Nope. This short was about the timeline in which Suzuha needs to travel to the past. SG 0 EP 8 was when Daru needed to undo the Echelon database from SERN.
