Good for sonya. Stand up for urself. Dont let these people try to take adv of u
She's disgusting.
When did the umpire give Kenin the obscenity violation ?
5:02 - The commentator said she was given code violation.
Players can refuse to play, officials have the right to disqualify players and hand the match to their opponent.
that simple :o)
If it were Serena, they would disqualify her. She lost a point or game for calling the umpire a liar but this white girl can curse.
She may have been right about the conditions on court, but unprofessional of her to curse anyone out. Just call for the supervisor or director.
Poor attitude and low class. She needs to better control her emotions.
The officials make the calls and the players play. If players start making the calls then you no longer have a game. That applies to all sports, and it an't exactly rocket science.
She's a child who has never heard the words no, enough, not today, ain't happening.
Of course if the player is injured and sport career is affected due to injuries is her fault also. It is definitely not a jet engine science to observe that deployed umbrellas are not intended to shade spectators.
@@TheSafariHunter Correct. If she chooses to play on (rather than withdraw) in conditions which she considers to be dangerous, and sustains an injury, that's her own fault. Injuries can hapoen in tennis or any athletic pursuit. Jockeys in horse racing are followed around by an ambulance, and sometimes they end up in the back of that ambulance. Nobody is forcing them to be jockeys. If it's too dangerous for you, do something else.
What you and the judges don't understand about clay courts is stunning. They're tough enough when dry and bad for the players and the surface when wet.
Why is any sport postponed due to weather? Exactly! Can get very dangerous for injury, possibly even career ending, especially on a surface like clay! Obviously, she was right, as it was called moments later! Gotta give her credit for expressing her displeasure, when common sense did not work with this chair umpire!
As soon as she disrespected the umpire so flagrantly, the match should be called in favor of her opponent..
Rude, disrespectful, no class & not very professional!
Quite the opposite , professional means by all means to use brain and body at full capability, not to be stupid while assuming unnecessary risks.
La sortir de la compétition définitivement
Since Sofia Kenin came into the WTA Tour , she has a terrible time of controlling her anger and temper, many hidden issues…… so much talent.😵💫
Another case of attitude overtaking the talent and skill! Too bad…

She has matured since 7yrs old either!!!
The super had too much attitude. One of the things you have to factor in is, is the player dealing with an injury or had a previous injury due to a wet court so the super has to lighten up.
It's easy for him to get cocky when an error won't cost him his career and ultimately cost him millions of dollars. It would help for him to look at it from that perspective. It's not just arbitrary diva behavior, a career and millions of dollars are on the line for her.

I find it very interesting that Kenin didn't lose any points or games for cussing out the umpire???? Serena lost a whole game just for calling the umpire a fraud/liar, at the US Open.
"thief" was the word Serena used, not that it's any worse or better
Because there's an escalating penalty scale in tennis for repeated infractions. First you get a warning, which Kenin got. Then you lose a point, then a game, then the match. In the US Open match with Osaka, Serena was given a warning, then lost a point for the next infraction, then a game for the next.
The ump in the Serena match was full of it, though. It was absurd to penalize her for calling him a thief after he took a point from her. "Thief" is an extremely tame criticism - not even close to an obscenity, and it was certainly an understandable response to the point penalty which she felt was unjustified. I didn't like Serena's behavior that day, but the ump's reaction to being called a thief will go down as one of the lamest penalties ever given in tennis.

That is one of the tamest names I've heard a player call an ump in 40 years of watching tennis. I didn't say that _none_ of the penalties were justified - just the "thief" one.
She know how her footing is on the court and they had to stop it anyway they are ridiculous at these tournaments. Those players shouldn't have to be forced to play if they think its unsafe and it's easy for the umpire and director to say it's ok to continue they're not out there, it's not like the lines are dirt they are plastic strips nailed in the ground.
She had the option to not play. I like Kenin, but sometimes players can act like divas.
yeaaah tennis is a sooo dangerous sport !!
But the opponent didn’t say it was too slippery, only Kenin said it. Ump will stop if both players say it’s not safe.
Swearing at an umpire is unprofessional, she is very bad-mannered plus the set is almost lost, she has to blame something. More respect for the game and the public, she really neefs to think about who and what she is
The umpire deserved it. The lines on the court are made of a plastic type material and is very slippery when wet. They should have stopped play a long time before they did.
@@Stratisfied22that justifies this behaviour?
@@blue_red_screen Yep and this type of behavior brings more fans believe it or not.
I am with Kenin on this issue. She is probably worried about the potential risk for injury on a wet court. This her career, she is under a lot of pressure. The supervisor seemed pretty dismissive of her concerns, so I can understand why she got upset.
Obnoxious players don't get favorable judgement calls. That seems to escape Kenin. She seems mentally challenged.

Chair umpires need to realise that it is the players that are running around down there.

Swearing at an umpire is unprofessional, she is a brat, her father should teach her manners besides tennis.
Also, to those people saying should be the players to decide if is to dangerous, if this was the case, the player will want to stop the game "because is dangerous" just because she is tired or loosing the game , and if the court will be really dangerous but she is winning then they will want to continue anyway. Players will use this rule to their advantage.
The umpire is not a random person from the street and knows about court conditions, players are not better than umpire to decide.

I think Sofia, for her long term success, should explore a change of coaches. I saw her play live in San Diego last year and she is clearly very talented, but there seems to be a continued underlying aggravation which, in the short term, can be a great motivator, but can really be a grind. She is mature enough to go to the next level of continued success, injuries notwithstanding. I thought the supervisor’s demeanor was very unprofessional. Thank you for the video!

That's why her career is nowhere
in the end , it's the players call weather they think it's not right to play , since they are the ones who could sustain injuries that could render them out of the sport for good , so you lose a match if you keep your health. play was stopped a few minutes later so who was right?. i particularly like how the chair umpire got out her chair and walked over to where the player would be standing on the serve line and moved one foot around for a sec. then declared it was o.k. , you can't get a "feel" from the court like that , looks like it was all about her ego, not the players.
Im not defending her actions...but to me this was the culmination of the horrible start to the year she has had. Prior to Rome she was 2-11 for the year, with one of those wins coming at the Challanger level. This after she had her health issues and struggled for two years and then finally had some good results at the end of last year just for this year to be a monumental dissapontment. Again, not saying that means she should have conducted herself this way, but I do believe that the evidence very much shows that this was not all over a single incident of playing conditions. To me, this was 5 months of unbelievable dissapointment and frustration that all burst out at once right here.

You shouldn't be allowed to sit down in the middle of a game like that, especially for this reason. Unreal.
Yes the behaviour of tennis players changed unbelievably, they stop games endlesslycdiscussing decisions plus they take time as they will and talk to their teams between points. It is also interesting how are they allowed and tolerated for this as this is all forbidden and prone to punishments in tennis..
Sofia Kenin was pointing out what she knows that the courts were unplayable, and then after Kenin won the point, NOW! they call the court unplayable because of the same rain as before.
