If you think Yastremska was just faking her injury, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but let me just say that if you're doing something for the past 10 years like carrying heavy bags around, it won't seem heavy at all. These athletes are quite strong because they train very heavily. You won't be able to serve a tennis ball at around 200 kph unless you're strong. These tennis players are much stronger than they appear.

@@tennisobserver995 Is there any data suggesting either of those things? There's always been a lot of tournaments. Have you seen any stories on the balls causing injury?

I grew up in the 70s and I don't recall these sorts of injuries. They are working these athletes like race horses. There's no consideration for their health or spirit at all. I can't imagine the stress they go through from tournament to tournament. So much incredible pressure to win as often as possible. i hope her injury isn't long lasting. This was going to be a solid match.
Players in seventies had no injuries, because they were mediocre. Too much strength involved with today"s game, they need to change the balls, courts, & equipment. Sampras would serve & the point was over, he was winning so much, but his serve blowing by opponents was so boring that people quit coming to matches, but Sampras couldnt win himself out of a paper bag on clay courts. Anyway changes was made to powerful servers that they never got to be number one no more, because of many changes, but the major change was 2 different racket strings vertical, & horizontal. They need to make changes, but not make changes to help boring players like Sampras. There are so much injuries that today"s players only want to win the big money paying grand slam tournaments. Djokovic has won so many grand slams, because he is the only player that wants to play in the money playing Australian Open, because the Australian Open is in the winter time when most players want to take a rest & are out of shape, so to avoid injuries, & take time off & be at home, & cut travel expenses.

Womens tennis in the 70's and 80's had a very small number of actual top players who would blitz 6-1, 6-2 or easier through the field barely facing any opposition until the 1/4 finals at least. Totally different sport today.
I was at the match. It all happened so suddenly, caught everyone by surprise. We were all expecting an exciting match, people started waiting more than an hour before the match to stake out the good seats, it was a hot day and the side of the stadium with the back against the sun was completely packed 1/2 hr before the match. The practice schedule said Dayana was supposed to practice with Sakkari until 10:30am on that court but they never showed. The match started >5 min late. When it happened we just saw Dayana holding her stomach and walking towards the back, then the umpire came and soon it was all over. I hope she'll be okay. Emma showed a lot of empathy, gave Dayana and nice hug and led the fans to cheer for her, she knows what it's like to be injured and they seem to be friends. She was also very sweet to the fans after, they all loved her and ate her up. First time I ever saw Emma in person she is very pretty but very skinny and delicate looking, I'm afraid Sabalenka will blow her off the court😟.
If you notice, the ball boy struggles to hold the umbrella over emma raducanu, what does she do? Yep she takes over and holds it over both of them. What a lovely person Emma is.
Very good observation! You're the first commenter to say something about that 👍. I would be very surprised if Emma was in any way rude or disrespectful to other players and especially the Tennis fans. She always graciously gives her time for autographs and selfies. All umpires would do this, just calm down.
Actually, most umpires would probably go down to check on a player in such situation, but most would not go automatically in such a short time as Nouni did. And that's why many think it's commendable.
Picked up those bags pretty darn easy....just sayin'
Thanks for posting.
I want a refund of my tickets!! 😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks for posting. However, respectfully, I can't really concur with your comment on this video. I'm playing it right now on my computer screen and it's an LG 4K HDR 55-inch TV. And it looks and sounds fantastic. This video is really taken from a true HD feed, unlike some of the tennis highlights in youtube which says full HD but are actually 480p feeds with the contrast just driven up. Besides, you're the only one who says so. Maybe, there's something wrong with your system or your internet perhaps?
Cudos to the umpire.
He certainly did something commendable. Thanks for commenting.
A 5 minute video of a withdrawal... It's not a bizarre end of match in my book.

Yet there are some people who think the least you could do to reinforce a human behavior is to praise it if it is positive.

Yastremska always pulls this stuff! Whenever she's losing she fakes an injury to kill her opponents momentum!
I haven't watched that many Yastremska matches to make an informed comment on your comment, but I do appreciate that you took time to post a comment.

😂😂Radacanu the 🇨🇦 one hit wonder
Well, we won't know for certain about that until she retires which is still a long way considering she's only 21 years old. But even if she doesn't win another major, she has already achieved what 99.9% of all WTA players could not. So she's already accomplished something big and I think should be given credit for that.

Thanks for commenting. But with all due respects to you, I find your comment very funny because of its absurdity. You, my friend, probably are a fan of Qanon, if i may say so.
This Yastrembska is doing it so often . Once she retired when she was 1 point away from match point for opponent and ...she retired ,she didnt want to lose
thanks for commenting. This one appears to be a real injury. If she's faking it, she deserves an Oscar for her acting.
She got paid to throw the match 🤷🏾♂️
Thanks for commenting. Raducanu was the favorite in this match, so for Yastremska to throw the match probably doesn't make sense .
2 of the biggest quitters on tour when matches don't go their way. Although this time it seemed like a legit injury. Raducrapu is always faking injuries when getting pounded in matches.
thanks for commenting. She had three surgeries last year so she might really have had minor injuries those times she retired, but one can never be so sure.
@@tennisobserver995 Everyone has injuries.....But the both of them have the same patterns their whole careers.

Radacanu won a match!😂

This doesn't look good, Dayana is a very good player I wish her well
Thanks for commenting. Dayana really has the tools to make it big. She just needs to fine tune her game and improve her focus in games.
She looked out of tune the first two games. She couldn’t serve well. She pretty much handed her game to Emma. She was probably injured before coming in. So unfortunate but that’s sports. You have to keep pushing forward until you drop then you take a sick day except prize money and points don’t wait around. A fast recovery to Yas..😢

Does that ball boy not know what to do with that umbrella, it’s all over the place.
Thanks for your comment. I noticed that, too, not just in this match. However, it might really be hard to keep an umbrella still if a 20+kph wind is blowing.
What stood out also, is Emma really looks concerned about Yastremska's injury, knowing only too well how difficult that is for a player to have to contend with because she also has struggled with injuries the past year.

Despite the rewards the players are really asked to play far too much and far too often. Injury has no time to ease or calm down. But it was dealt with quickly and quietly and hopefully the injury is just a pull and nothing more.
Thanks for commenting. The WTA scheduling of tournaments plus the frequent change in balls used in different tournaments is really causing a lot of injuries among players. Too much focus on making money over the welfare of players.
@@tennisobserver995 Is there any data suggesting either of those things? There's always been a lot of tournaments. Have you seen any stories on the balls causing injury?
@@markoshun Thanks for commenting. Yeah, actually I read articles where top players attribute frequent injuries now to the frequent changes of balls from tournament to tournament.
Of course there's time. For example there's no reason she had to play San Diego last week or Linz immediately after AO.
@@XDF745 thanks for commenting. Yeah, they have options not to participate but are forced to because they need the money and matches to improve their skills and their ranking.
Big money now compared to the '70's when Open Tennis was in its infancy. More at stake ...more pressure.
@@myronhelton4441 Thanks for your comment. There was so much in there to digest. People usually don't make long comments but you are an exception. You must have been a tennis fan for so long.
💉🤔?
First time I ever saw Emma in person she is very pretty but very skinny and delicate looking, I'm afraid Sabalenka will blow her off the court😟.
thanks for your comment. This match would have provided Emma a very good workout for Sabalenka as Yastremska is also a big hitter.
If you notice, the ball boy struggles to hold the umbrella over emma raducanu, what does she do? Yep she takes over and holds it over both of them. What a lovely person Emma is.
Very good observation! You're the first commenter to say something about that 👍. Yeah, that is probably one of the reasons why Emma Raducanu ranks second only to Osaka with the most followers among active women's tennis players. Everything about what Emma does and says tells people that she is a genuinely lovely person. Credit goes to her parents who have raised Emma the right way.
I would be very surprised if Emma was in any way rude or disrespectful to other players and especially the Tennis fans. She always graciously gives her time for autographs and selfies. I have experienced a very rude conversation with a young ex player at a tennis tournament last week in the UK, felt like I was being talked down to-that person is now off my xmas list! We never know what a player is like in public, but Emma constantly shows her disposition is very friendly.
