    You should have done your research before buying the Spider-Man 1 3.5. Gpa had it about 9500-10k when you bought it. I think flipmode was gracious to refund your purchase. Most dealers do not return graded books. Lucky for you your buyer's remorse worked out for you.

    I'm glad it worked out for you in the end. I prefer the previous books colors, but this book does present better and has less defects.

    Personally, I'm not bullish on ASM#1. AF #15 is the book to own for Spider!

      I agree just grab a gold record reprint and go for the big dawg AF!

    That was extremely nice and professional of the seller to offer you a full refund. They did not have to do that, so that's great to hear. I'm glad all parties involved are happy.

    Glad it worked out for you. That was a nice presenting book in my opinion. I think there is a ink remover you can get now where it doesnt affect the book or is considered restoration. But glad you got a better looking 4.0.

    So let me tell u something….. I got a raw book from them I believed to be trimmed years ago. They didn’t think it was, I disagreed and i didn’t want to press it so I just unfollowed them. I ended up selling the book with a warning that it may be trimmed. They may not have known bc trimming can be hard to spot but still they should have refunded me. Keep in mind this was a few years ago so things may have gotten better

    Wow! That's an incredible 4.0. You got a steal of a deal for $11,500 as a Spider-Man #1 like that should go for at least $14,000.

  • @AllenB79
    @AllenB79 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a great deal on an ASM #1 4.0 for $11k!

    You lucked out that he did that. It was your mistake to purchase the book, not his to sell it without informing you. He did his due diligence by getting it graded. It's asinine to think ANY seller should write down all defects associated with a graded book.....outside of a damaged case....especially for a 3.5. Congrats on the upgrade.

    • @boxingfan2469
      @boxingfan2469 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the seller lost out on a sale for not letting the viewers know about those defects. Writing on the book and rusted staples should always be called out. I've not come across a seller not call those defects out. If the seller would have called that out hefore hand he could have gotten a buyer that was ok with it.

    • @boxingfan2469
      @boxingfan2469 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Save both parties the headache and call out the defects. What's the big deal unless you're trying to hide it.

    • @speccollector9740
      @speccollector9740 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boxingfan2469 Seller wasn't trying to hide anything. Sellers pay a premium to go through 3rd party graders ( CGC/CBCS) partly to ease the buyer's mind on the book's condition and grade.
      On top of that, the guy provided high res photos. It's asinine for sellers to have to mention all defects a book has, when the book is already graded.
      If I spend $10k on a book, I look it over 20 times over (hell, I do it for a $50 book) and will ask questions if I'm unsure.
      This guy went through a short period of Fomo and bid the grade. Not the book.
      Anyway, that's my opinion.

    • @danceswithcomicbooks7733
      @danceswithcomicbooks7733 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@speccollector9740the picture was a longshot and didn't show details. But the dealer took it back so it looks like you were wrong. You used "asinine" twice now. Is that your favorite word? Lol

    • @speccollector9740
      @speccollector9740 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danceswithcomicbooks7733 So just because the seller didn't want his name dragged through TH-cam (and whatever other social media platform the buyer's in) , you think i was wrong?
      I didn't even realize I used the word twice. It's clearly a perfect word to describe what transpired.
      I don't know what is so hard for people to comprehend? The seller did well for himself to get the book graded.
      Many sellers will use words like "unrestored" or "complete" or describe books as NM/M or or High grade.....then you receive the book and realize it's restored or it's Fine+ at best.
      He paid extra cash....a lot extra....to get the book graded by the best professional grading company in the planet.
      NO DESCRIPTION SHOULD BE NECESSARY......other than the condition of the case.....ala..."scratched case" " Newton rings" "mint case".
      Now, if he tampered with the case, that's a different animal, but the responsibility is now on the BUYER to do his research and look up notes (which are free btw).
      In this case, he was complaining about something that was VISIBLE ( I'm making sure to Cap everything that needs to be clear.....since you still don't get it).
      This wasn't a $50 book he was buying.....INSPECT it with your eyes at least.....
      Not trying to be disrespectful to you as you were with me.....but the situation is ASININE from this channel's viewpoint.

    They ignored you until you made them look bad on TH-cam. I’ll stick to buying books in person at my LCS or comic shows. I had a similar bad experience on Whatnot. I only buy books that I can inspect in person now. It’s more fun hunting them in the wild anyway. Great video!

    Fix the 3.5. You can replace the staples with some 1963 staples and still get up to a 6.0 blue on the book if you were to resubmit, assuming no rust migration or other major damage keeping it at 3.5. As for the ink, pretty sure you can also have writing on the cover in a 6.0 as well but removing that is also pretty simple with qtips and acetone and maybe some masked BLED therapy. That 4.0 looks great. I think you paid too much for both copies though. I think we haven't hit the bottom of the market drop yet, even on spidey #1's

  • @spinetickspressing
