Romania has no money to send its athletes to the Olympics in Paris this summer, Prime Minister Ciolacu said last Friday. They will ask the National Lottery to issue a special ticket for this. Romania is eaten by corruption, so for a looong time we will not see a Ponor, a Răducanu or a Comăneci :(

Years and years of repetition and hard training! Their space awareness is incredible!
Hours and hours and hours and hours and hours of repetition. The lines are in these gymnast heads and muscle memory.
Probably get a slap if they miss in training.
The most epic rotation was the final rotation of the 1987 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam where Romanians scored three 10s in a row on FX with Voinea, Dobre, and Silivas- now that was epic!

The real drama of the Romanian gymnasts is the number of good gymnasts that never ever had the chance to shine because the competition for the national team was so strong. In those days we had enough good gymnasts for at least 3 national teams. For most of them was just hard work and little to no reward....
And much hunger, and beat from the trainers.
As an American, I love the Romanians so much- so graceful yet powerful . Andreea Raducan was such a sad situation. So many amazing gymnasts from this country.

It is so painful (for us, Romanians) to see the level of Romanian gymnastics 18 years ago compared to today. These exercises would be enough to be on any podium of today's great competitions.
This rotation somehow made me smile, especially when oana ban made the crowd cheer and excited. Anyone else?

Who would get the gist of what they said with a Romanian movie. I'm Romanian, but we're small and might have some known sportspeople etc, but surely no action movies. 😊 So I approve of that comparison.

Romanian Gymnastic Women were judged unfairly at this Olympics Games of the year 2024.Some judges don't like The Romanian!They are still good but they score low because some judges decided to hate us!Besides they even didn't show all of Romanian Artistic Gymnastic routines at Olympic Games Paris 2024.

No hate, they do mistakes or show favours, for years. They have answered to appeals and got 3rd and 4th place. If higher degree of difficulty, maybe would have won mor emedals.

Your hope, unfortunatelly, won't come true. Not in 2024. Maybe much later, when the children of Romania who have the talent and dream to follow in Nadia's footsteps , ( and their parents ) will understand that becoming such a champion includes years and years of hard working, practice, and sacrifices of all kinds...And when those who rule Romania will give more credit, and finances , to gymnastics ( and this , for certain, won't happen in the near future).

Daniela Șofronie performed on "Marbella" by Armik (Spanish Flamenco)
Oana Ban performed on a version of "Conga" by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine.
Cătălina Ponor performed on a mix of "Gia" by Despina Vandi and "Egyptian Disco" by DJ Disse (the Spanish guitar, Flamenco part at the end)
Im proud im romanian.our Girls was the best in entire world and they are a legend in gimnastic start whit Nadia Comăneci .Bravo România .
1987 floor rotation to me was the most epic of the Romanian team at the world's.

Not only the gymnasts were focused, the audiences were also ON FIRE! Clapping along the routines and big applause at the end of each of them. A very exciting team final !
By the way, the triple spin step out of Sofronie was so elegantly done. And Catalina 's performance felt like a big finale to this spectacular team competition.
We were indeed a great crowd (I was there)! It was an electric moment, even xx years ago I remember it vividly! 😆

Yeah for me this is a really great rotation, with good difficulty and hit routines, which built exhilarating energy throughout until the announcement of their win.
But each routine isn't a full masterpiece, a mix of high difficulty, high quality execution, jaw dropping choreography, intense performance.
Without a doubt, at that moment, Catalina was the best in the world, and honestly at peak, for what she did, not even Andrea Raducan would have beat her score

I think this is definitely the STRONGEST closing rotation by a team in the last 6-8 Olympics. I think China did a great job in Beijing 2008 but they had a few wobbles that cost them, but their lead was big enough to keep them very safe. Romania went all out and NAILED it.
Russia 2021 is a highlight too.

Always loved the Romanian gymnasts most of all. I loved the Russian elegance but Romanian girls had such an edge to them and their choreography was the best. They are unique, loved Catalina Ponor but so sad the team is not what it was. Now gymnastics is truly ugly,unwatchable power and no grace or artistry.

As a young Romanjan girl watching this live…I wanted to enroll in ghmnastics right then. I think we were the best dancers besides the gymnastics.
